Consolidation request

I’ve come and gone from this game for years

Basically we need vendors for anything that can give feat points
Finding all the vendors and remembering which episode they are in is the most frustrating part of returning and wanting to catch up those SP.

Don’t even get me started on trying to rummage through 10 years of seasonal vendors to find which things are feats

most of this games population are die hard players watching dcuo slowly disappear. We are trying to hold on to this game to have some fun before it completely dies off and we no longer can.

I’m not asking you to make me quit path of exile with the most revolutionary dcuo update in 8k 500fps unreal engine 43. Just make the game less of a maze so it can be played more with less loading screen purgatory
  2. Obviously Well-Known Player

The episode and seasonal feats are separated by list. The teleport list has an episode number to help correlate. The house of legends has vendors for most if not all of the base game styles that have feats attached. The game is an MMORPG meant to be big.

Let's be real here, travel time isn't the real reason you barely play. Putting everything in one vendor wouldn't make you play this game more. It's just a request to remove any requirement to familiarize yourself with the games maps and locations, and actually promotes playing the game less than more.

Yes, requests that promote reduced playtime are transparent and are not changes the current development direction will be making.
  3. Linus Active Player

The reason why I don’t play is precisely because I’m too busy trying to find everything I’m missing from when nexus was relevant to now. So I spend all my dcuo time catching up very slowly then eventually I find something else to do irl and repeat. After getting max cr this is my constant struggle and is so yucky feeling for lack of better words.

I play Poe regularly that’s my daily driver so If you’re familiar with that game you understand that I’m willing to do amateur rocket science to learn everything I need to be as efficient as possible with my time.

I have over 14,000 hours on dcuo between pc Xbox and p5.
I genuinely am sick and tired of having to either google or gamble through a teleporter with 10 years of dcuo content. The list is far too long to actually remember where a specific omnipotent catalyst is or an augment you should probably try to max. especially if you play and leave often.

Nobody wants to remember this junk either
To be honest with you I’ve been lost in dcuo since sunstone matrix came out lol game felt like Mario 64 style random at times but now it’s just clutter on clutter on junk.

They’ve done a decent job making this game move on from wt hod days even after messing up the mail rooms lol but it could simply still be simpler. Nobody wants to run through 36 teleporters to see what they missed out on during their hiatus
  4. KidKretz Committed Player

okay, ngl, having read all this, sounds like you are still in the watchtower and have yet to discover house of legends that has 1 teleporter system and every episode via a list that you simply select, which you can match up with the feat list episode number.

    good luck and have fun!
  5. Linus Active Player

I think you’ve wildly misunderstood me somehow

Regardless. There are too many episodes and too many times to teleport. I was giving examples of how far we have come from the days where 80 something cr was the cap. The game was cluttered even then. They’ve done some consolidation. They need to do more since we have 10x the items now.

I’m from the days before artifacts existed. When we crafted mods and ran exo routes and ran scrims all day long.

I’m simply trying to explain how this game could improve to make people less tolerant than me to play it more and get hooked.

I love black desert online but combat too hard and gives carpal tunnel and I’m -1,000,000 cron stones with no progress
I love path of exile but combat too easy and relies on leagues (season wipe)
I love dcuo because the combat is fun but it is a major pain to locate necessary items

Out of all these games dcuo is the most new to mmo casual player friendly game, but it has the most unfriendly system. Although improving, it leaves a lot to be desired.
  6. LowFlyingMoon Loyal Player

Lol... So, you missed out on 36 episodes and now you're expecting that you should just go see one vendor and be all caught up? Yeah, that will probably happen, because it's in the game's best interest, that you should be able to be a top-tier player just by logging in once every couple of years.

This forum has really fallen down from the level of comprehension and discourse i remember

Orbit smileb4death super patriot balkan and i created content for this game until PvP died which led to far less information on this game.
I’m giving a suggestion for future players to have less frustration.
my perspective as someone who has 3 accounts 21 toons all with 500+ sp before the days of using tokens to unlock feats

If this game is to continue the game needs to be less running around to find outdated unusable junk for feats and more playing the actual game
This game is a cathartic grind for currency
Just like every other mmo out there
The reason why people play those games and not this one is heavily due to everything needing to be googled or looked up on youtube.
This isnt the glory days where there is updated info and various content creators to follow

Im not a developer for online games but i mod single player games and have people download my mods. I have a decent understanding of what people like to play and how they like to play it. It’s not a simple drag and drop for all vendor items, i get it. But why in the world would someone play dcuo for 4000 hours to catch up to everyone else when its frustrating enough to make you want to play any other mmo

Im never leaving dcuo im here till the end. Plenty people refuse to return to this game for the reasons I’ve mentioned.
So we need to get with the times and adjust accordingly. 80% of this games content is completely unplayable especially if a villain with very few league options unless you intend to meta slave min max this game 40hrs a week to farm elite plus.

With that in mind just give a chance to the casual players to farm marks
have a t1-t5 vendor where they can just buy everything they missed
while i battle tank top dps every raid and help them progress out of the mud because im just here to push buttons and farm.

    TLDR:
I apologize for the incredibly long tangents. I've been wanting to get this point across for years now while I still have passion for this game.
The devs have done some wonderful work at improving quality of life and I think a few more changes would make this game far less frustrating. This could all be resolved with a checkmark that glows when you accomplished that items feat, I understand that is significantly more difficult than what I'm suggesting, which is why I am asking for a vendor.

  9. PlayOffline Active Player

What they need to do - is get rid of feats already completed. They serve no purpose at all remaining within the feats trees.

You’re talking about 4000+ feats now - most of these are in episodes.

It’s infuriating having to search through each episode/TC/seasonal etc, now for possible missed feats you may have accumulated, and missed buying over onto other toons, because they no longer show at the top of the episode any longer (I’m guessing this is just another bug that was never fixed)?

Completed feats should be removed from the list entirely! It would slim down the lists, make it less daunting to look at, and traverse. It’s so bloated now, it takes way too long to go through all the completed feats and unconpleted ones.

Feats in general need to be looked at. Especially older ones, and how to access them. For both returning and new players. Depending on your server - access to feats can be almost impossible.
But… we all know by now, that the bosses don’t want you to go back and grind. They want you to buy your way to “success” a customer grinding out older feats is a busy customer. Busy customers don’t spend money, they’re too preoccupied having fun/engaged (for free)

Oh, I see - you just wanted to talk about yourself and what an amazing player/content creator/modder you think you are. Nobody asked, but carry on.

Yes i agree, there’s plenty the devs could do but i think we are at a brick wall when it comes to engine limitations. Feels like whenever they try to make big changes we end up with huge bugs. But im still willing to push for anything. Anything at all. i feel like the cup has overflown so long that we are swimming.

At this point anything to simplify the gaming experience would be nice. It gets to a point where you think, “bro do i really have to go search for this specific vendor for the 800th time” there are multitudes of feats. Auras, accessories, augments, omnipotence, hair… the list is endless it seems.
  12. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

I don't think people are confused by the request, but in your own video, you show the flaw in the logic. You said you don't want to look through the feats to see if you had the augment feat done. You didn't even look in your own inventory and see that you had the BOP catalyst there at max already. You did that AFTER going to the BOP vendor, and then said you'd probably have to run stuff in BOP anyway for marks or other feats, meaning that trip to BOP was going to happen anyway, yet you counted it against as wasted time. You then scroll through the bank and look at old incomplete OP items and talk about what it would take to get that stuff done, farming marks and such.

You don't need a single vendor...you need a feat tracker or maybe a notepad so you can scroll through and note where you need those feats.

Having 40+ episodes of Purple/yellow/elite-gear/catalysts/styles/plans/trinkets all jammed into one all encompassing vendor won't change the fact you don't know if you've already maxed a head augment if you don't check the feat or your own inventory. Looking in the bank for an old OP item would only help save the feat search if that OP item is complete on that toon (and still in the bank).

Now....if you only ever run 1 toon, perhaps having a single vendor would allow you to check off any gear/style you haven't yet collected as they'd be green vs yellow in there, but not everything is a feat...so unless you are down with just buying EVERYTHING, you still need to go check and see what you need first. And if you aren't running on just 1 toon...you wouldn't for sure know you didn't knock some of that stuff off on an alt, and bought it over on your main.

    Good luck with the request.

After hearing you from my view seems more of a overwhelming issue (almost it did happen to me), i will try to give a couple of advices:

-About feats for solo, duo, alerts and raids, as soon as you get inside open the scoredcard or the "onduty" menu there should be a tab with the feats of that particular alert, just in case you didn't know (and it's really useful).

-About arts and omnipotence gear. In general terms there is a lot of them as you can see, my advice is at first only focus on the most recent episode (Kaznia) and on your favourite episode from "world of flash point" to the most recent, start doing those to get on track and do not get overwelmed.

Why those? Well Kaznia due to be the most recent and more leveled which you have thought about it already. The other (one between flash point to Apokolips) because you can easily buy the resources, previous to that you cannot buy everything. And also you have the space on the inventory to not have to erase the rest.

Oh and just another tip, for feats you don't have to upgrade both episode augments, just one of them is enough.

I do hope that helps you a little bit.

Your post seems specific to tracking down feats you might be missing.
I feel like, in comparison to years past, they've made it a less of a maze.
The seasonal vendors now allow you to tab through years.
If you're on PC or have a keyboard hooked up, there's now a keybind for feats "G"
If you're in an instance, there's a tab on the On Duty menu now that will show you the feats related to that area/Episode (though I'd love if there was an instanced world version of this on the Map)
Catwoman in the House of Legends will sell all current episode gear if you don't know where to go, Tempus will sell the stuff before that, and the other rooms in HoL allow you to catch up on all your style feats for cheaper than buying gear. No need to worry about rare drops in the vault anymore. Rather than "pays your money and takes your chances," you can just focus on playing instances and eventually you will get those styles.
Many of the things that were previously behind paywalls are now available from the daily rewards vendor, Dr Fate.
Make sure you do the storyline in order (ie: talk to npc/solo/duo/alert/raid), in order to open up instanced worlds.
I know it's daunting to come back after a long haitus, but they really have improved things.
There's actually a really helpful community on the official DCUO Discord who can help you get caught up. Although things do tend to devolve into artifact discussions, it can't hurt to reach out: https://discordapp.com/invite/dcuo

There are a several things I have in mind for making this system more intricate and make sense but a vendor like this seems more realistic for the devs to actually consider.
For example things to make this system feel excellent
Check marks that glow which indicate if the item feat is complete
Vendors that hold feat items specifically
More feat tabs that hold all augments etc type feats in them specifically

The list goes on and the devs have a lot on their plate so I’m trying to nudge a direction where we can not feel completely overwhelmed.
I recently brought 4 friends I met in the army to dcuo and they are all nerds like me. Techy and mmo gamers.. They all got to 450 cr. 100-150 sp so far
And my suggestions are stemming from a mixture of my years of play and their most common complaints summed up into my poorly explained rambling.

Thank you, I genuinely forgot they added feats to scorecard. I often waste time getting stuck scrolling the old fashioned way

And the struggle of finding the augments and specific vendors etc for Omni items for me is more the fact that the content is often dead, nobody is there unless with friends so it would just make more sense in my mind at least to try and push these vendors in the HOL

It just feels like a dreaded mind maze, when in reality all I and whoever I’m running with want to spam Omnibus sm or whatever. Goal in mind to generate a sense of progression asap via sp from vendor items since specific feat hunting is far more stressful for groups to accomplish equally but the treasure hunt necessary really kills time and morale.
  17. Cyfaill Well-Known Player

To forget the scorecard feat tab is a classic and most people not only forget it but also didn't know about it.

On the vendors i disagree, i prefer to have each "thing" separated, in my case when i'm focusing in a item (let's say the back of flashpoint) i just need the stuff related to that, anything else is getting on the way and making noise, for me is way easier to travel and not have to read the description to buy what i need and avoid what i do not. Also if i'm not interested on a item i can forget about it until i want to (let's say you are upgrading brainiac helm and you don't want the Athena's for the moment). In fact i was really happy when they resorted the feat list and put the styles on the timecapsules or the episode you can find them instead of putting all styles on the same page.

About feat hunting, it's going to sound really ugly and selfish but.. well it could be worse, Have you checked my signature? The "Weekly periplo" part in particular. It is not exactly a guide (and now i don't have the time to continue it) but since you brought some friends and i do presume you are playing together from time to time, maybe it could be worthy for all of you (if mind serves right you told you are 4) to use it as a your own periplo (travel in english), to sum up it was a weekly idea to get feats in alerts and raids with random people just check it.

Ps: Lately i'm talking too much about the "Weekly periplo" maybe is the destiny trying to tell me something hehe.

This is great, definitely gonna try it out
There are tons of feats where the queue just doesn’t exist and my buddies need are in desperate need of 50 pointers all over the place.

I do truly hate being the leader calling shots and hand holding my friends even though I’m often tanking. I think the game should be fun and relaxing, not a second job where someone is constantly yelling that something is being done wrong.I just want to hop in a group, think little, push button alot with simple clear communication.

This may be my means of accomplishing this.
  19. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

I can get behind most QOL changes suggested, but also temper my expectations around the game we are playing and the team working on it. I don't see some glowing checkbox working well, and even if it did, does it account for feats done on an alt you COULD unlock the same as feats you already have done? Similar to the 'single vendor' idea, I'm not sure the end state is going to resolve the issues you'd like resolved....not completely anyway. Could be something could be listed on the items to indicate it IS related to a feat at least, then you'd know you have to look it up...but even then, it might be misleading as some vendors have feats for 'buy one of' items and if you saw all 3 were labeled for some feat....would you potentially buy all 3 items where only 1 is needed? I'd guess someone would.

I'd rather see something in the feat list to filter 'vendor feats' apart from feats in OW or runs, and maybe even a 'warp to area' tied to the feats list. Where for a vendor or OW feat, you can immediately warp to that location? I'd guess both of those would be doable, and as you'd already be IN the list, you would know the requirements and if you could unlock from an alt. 2 things that having items IN a vendor alone doesn't do.

This right here is absolutely brilliant
Ive always wondered why we have warp options directly to content from the map but not the feat tab or journal
From a coding perspective it’s probably alot alot of work to keep it without bugs

Similar to labeling items as feats, im sure there’s a simple way to tag each item and have it paste a generic “this item has a feat attached” but dcuo engine is dcuo engine and there’s probably years of stuff they cant even lay a finger on anymore without a terrible cascading effect

I am glad they play a lot of things safe the way they do to prevent duping, out of map warps to kill boss from outside play area, item loss etc.. so we can only hope something can be changed to improve qol since a lot of times they get inspired to start something but lose motivation on the smoothening out the edges part.
