The devs promised a higher concentration on story, and they certainly didn't let us down. The story in this episode is very engaging, and quite an interesting look at how people with exobyte powers would have to adapt without the help of Oracle or Calculator. The whole saga had twists and turns all the way. I was very surprised early on when we found Voivode's sidekick dead in the snow. In the 14 years of this game, we have never had a scene with a dead body before. Then to discover that Constantine was actually the bad guy not long after was another twist, and an enjoyable little side quest to rescue him. And then the main solo...probably the best ever in the game. So much to explore, so many puzzles to solve...and a bunch of feats to reward that exploration and experimentation. I have already run this on a bunch of alts, and enjoy it even more each time. Then there's the question of the death of Voivode at the end...is she really dead? I suspect she may return in future chapters. And the appearance of Indigo One was also a surprise...and raises speculation about the future. Is it possible that this story, that begins in a rural village, may eventually lead to an intergalactic conflict and possibly a visit to the Blue Lanterns' homeworld? Then to follow all this with an outstanding new open world and enjoyable dailies and feats to be achieved, and the whole thing is off to a great start. I enjoy the idea of having to break into pairs for the raid...quite unique and a lot of fun. My only criticism would be that if we are going to do a flashback Neron raid, it would've been nice if they had included a Constantine voice-over, explaining in a bit more detail how the flashback directly relates to the current crisis. All up, I would give the ep 8.5 out of 10, and am very much looking forward to the next chapter.
Actually... There were a bunch of dead bodies in the Justice Leage Dark's "Chaos Gotham" map... They lasted a day.. and apparently were made to edit them out.
Solid take as far as the story plays out in general! Respect Without restating you, getting "into the weeds" or piling on to nitpicks about this chapter's launch, I 100% agree with your premise- the team really went for it with storytelling! I dove in a little late (as most players tend to in the Tuesday release era), and thankfully, the servers seemed more settled than I expected. Hence, I could better enjoy some things the weekday live tastes couldn't. But yeah, not getting into that right now, sticking to the shape of the story. Fam, I was blindsided in the most beautiful way... *Bo0m* Lantern arc... after nearly a decade. The DCUO creative team is killing it right now. I've mentioned the art team's brilliance recently, and I'll prob chime in on my favorite new gameplay focus elements soon, too. For now though, to the writers *salute* You got me, and the secret sauce was the curveball approach, just like the op mentioned. Kudos on a good job, and thanks for making it back to the Visible Spectrum. I'm looking forward to what's next, too. Sidenote- I'm not the Wanna See (and talk to) a Dead Body target demo, but Luzia's path to the Indigo Corp needed more than KOs *pours some out for Jack and Volvo (maybe)*
Except for all those dead Amazons and cops and dead souls and gangsters and every other sort of victim throughout the run up to level 30 and throughout the game.
What I meant was we have never had a character that we are looking for killed in a scene like this. And the vast majority of npc "bodies" you are referring to in the game were not dead...they were knocked out. One of the things that separates this game from most fantasy games out there is that we never kill our foes...we knock them out.
Haha Love this, but sadly for the cause of villany, if you watch those npcs land on a surface below, you watch em sprint away with zero health. But yeah, I get it and it's a great share LOL I've been giving those shoves again, too since the catalyst thing happened. And yeah, Johnny is dead dead... disturbingly dead even. For the other random bodies on the ground, I guesd we each get to draw our own conclusion without having confirmation. If smackin people unconscious was enough to get put in Indigo rehab, Batman and at least half the heroes out three would be "Nok'd up" by now.
Ok, I concede that villains can push people off the tops of buildings. And I also admit that in the Amusement Mile Funhouse, villains get a mission to set cops on fire. But these are relatively rare deadly events within the game.
Interesting point about character death! I always thought that all NPCs just get hit and get up. And the scene with the dead body was really powerful.
