Just another note to say that it's completely ridiculous that:

a) this is an issue at all; it wouldn't exist if the devs simply put the name of the damned style on the damned box, instead of forcing people to make these lists.

b) that this problem has made a crucial part of the game -- completing styles -- a minor hell and it's NOT BEEN FIXED IN TEN YEARS, despite numerous complaints.

I am aware of zero benefits that have come from this bizarre design choice that seems designed to only provide frustration and anger.

I can forgive a stupid design decision, but NOT FIXING IT IN A DECADE is beyond unforgiveable. It's practically criminal, or should be.

Clearly the devs have never understood just how frustrating a part of daily DCUO-playing this inability to tell what styles are in loot boxes with unconnected names. What the heck is the darned point of putting other names on the boxes and keeping the actual style names a mystery that we have to solve via this sort of thread?

I do understand your frustration, but you are also being a bit hyperbolic. This has not been going on for ten years. These unattuned pieces have only existed for 4-5 years if I recall correctly.

That said, 4-5 years is still way too long for something that is intrinsic to many in the game. I would say most players enjoy playing this game because of the styles it offers and the ability to diversify our characters with our own sense of style. I know at least a handful of people I have played with who mentioned they play this game because it most closely resembles another superhero game that existed before it, and the main draw to that game was character customization through styles.

Totally agreed, there should be style detector on gear boxes just like on usual gear.
