Community Misconception?: It Is Not Weapom Mastery Combos Vs. Awesome Mechanics

    I keep seeing people compare the WM combos Vs. AM mechanics. I just want people to realize that... That is not what the Devs are balancing the AM for.

    YOU WILL BE USING WM COMBOS REGARDLESS OF THE AWESOME MECHANIC USE.

    The debate truly is, the Awesome Mechanic Vs. Weapon Mastery Power Crits. That is what is being balanced against eachother. I keep seeing people say the combos make AM's redundant. No no no no no. That is a misconception. You will use WM combos REGARDLESS. You are actually choosing between the Critical buff or the AM.

    Sorry. Just something I felt needed to be communicated to people.

    When WM was first announced it was said we could chose to use it or not. Now you are saying we have to use it?

    Hm. I'm looking at the chart personally. Picture;s worth 1000 words. The picture clearly depicts Clipping to be under AM... maybe the Devs could be clearer

    That's a good way of thinking about it. Basically, utilizing the "Awesome Mechanic" only nerfs your might crits--it has no effect on your precision damage.

    According to people analyzing their combat logs, the precision damage is accounting for over 60% of their damage. So it seems we're not really having to choose between AM or WM as the devs intended, but only between AM and big might crits. That's probably why the awesome mechanics don't seem all that awesome.

    I've heard people suggest reducing the precision damage of WM combos by say 50% percent, then increasing the might damage from nailing WM combo timing by the same percentage. Redistribute the precision-to-might ratio basically. It would certainly make it a true choice between WM or the awesome mechanic, and it might be cool seeing your powers crit for 10k+ all the time.

    Personally though, I have problems with both AM and WM. The bloated damage from WM encourages people to only use weapon buffs and spam combos without even using damage powers. It also forces the devs to artificially lengthen T6 content by giving everything a ton of health, which is boring. Content shouldn't be long because things have a gazillion health, it should be long because it's tactically challenging.

    The awesome mechanics are also really boring to play, honestly. I'm either trying to power my pet every 6 seconds so he can do damage for me, or I'm just spamming 1 button on the same target for days. Ya, the damage is impressive but jeez it's boring.

    I'd just like to know, with any real certainty, if throwing mass terror to set up my terror PI is going to negate my might crit. I don't have access to the test server and I've seen these comments split down the middle. Can I use MT to apply the PI and use Terrorize and still get the might crit? So confused! Argh!

    No it will not. Mass Terror ITSELF will not get the might crit. Other powers are unaffected

    Don't worry, the tooltip is in place but mass terror isn't actually negating your might crits.. yet.

    You guys confuse me to no end what the heck are you talking about I thought it was a choice between Precision Vs Might damage. Giving Precision and equal footing to Might Clippers.

    Weapon mastery will always be the enemy... Right now, it's the biggest problem I have in this game. Powers should preform as well as they do with or without WM. WM should be an option, not a forced way of play in order to stay competitive

    Thats my biggest issue with it. I absolutely hate how slow it is. If I see another explosive shot mastery combo go off, im going to snap.

    I want to be able to ignore it all together and use my actual powers to do damage, not have to rely on overpowered weapon attacks to take the bulk (roughly 65-70%) of my damage.

    If people want to combine them, thats great, they should be able to do so. But I should also be able to have an actual alternative to weapon mastery that doesnt involve me using it in any way, shape, or form.

    I still think that you shouldnt be penalized for using 1 DOT and hope they fix this. Right now if you use 1 DOT and not the awesome mechanic you are still penalized from the WM crit.

    I would be happy if they only give us Electrocute... really. It's not in the awesome mechanic tree, they can make it so electrocute only benefit from the polarized PI and that is it. It's not part of the awesome mechanic either, and it looks so beautiful T.T

    Now that I think about it...what are our WM options without any dots up ? SP, Wired...Robot sidekick ? :rolleyes:
