i thought i read somewhere that all powers are going to recieve melee range bumps. we've seen this from celestial and it doesn't seem to bump them to ice-earth-quantum ranks. i expect ice-earth-quantum will also get these bumps making them further out of balance. is the goal here really balance? i don't understand how celestial's changes bode well for this since it's been said there will be no nerfing [read: lowering] of damage numbers and celestial can't come close to the FOTM powers even after update [and before the FOTM powers recieve even more, if smaller, buffs].
Celestial according to devs is balanced. All other powers will be tuned to be around that level of damage. Thus meaning OP powers will be toned down.
i don't see how that's the case with the following points from mepp's own post: All powersets will have melee (<7m) damage increased. This plan does not nerf powersets. if you take ice-earth-quantum output and tone it down to celestial's... you're going to see [just] claims of nerfing.
Yes but many powers have melee damage registering while they are mid range, devs won't call that a nerf but a fix, hence mepps post. Players will claim nerf when it's really just fixing things that are broken and adding in the powers midrange
Fire and gadgets got melee buffs, even though fb spam and emp is considered melee damage. I don't play fire, but gadgets right now is a top tier dps power
Clariciation is needed... Ice does MELEE DAMAGE AT MID RANGE...this will be adjusted based on range to target. Mid Range Ice toon will do less damage than when in melee range, therefore, Ice toon within 0-7M will do more damage than one that is 7-13M distance. Not nerfing going on, just adjustment to the range of AG and damage potential. As Derio pointed out some in the community will call it nerfing but the truth is, it is not a nerf but a fix to the ranges. Ice DPS currently does 32K on Live at melee range. The goal is to get mid range to 30K and true melee to 35. Ice true melee damage will get buff and mid range will be nerfed, the end result is a fix. Nothing big... Same can be said for all burst powers. Celestial is within those ranges. The problem for Celestial the damage is not instance like Ice. I can see powers also getting adjusted based on interruptions, making it harder to maintain the AM after an interruptions.
