Cape with Emblem

A simple idea for a monthly reward... a cape that can show the emblem you are wearing. For a create-your-own superhero MMO, I'm kind of surprised this style isn't in character creation.

When it comes to the cape, instead of just the simple classic cape, I am thinking of something more like Nabu's Chosen without the neck collar.

I think they've said somewhere before that the reason we haven't gotten this yet is something about having trouble getting the emblems to display correctly and stay on the capes because of how the capes work and how they move and what-not (but of course it's easier if the emblem is baked into the cape's model/texture like with the Superman capes I take it). BUT, we have gotten stuff lately they've said similar things about before eventually finding ways to make it work, like the two-tone capes (which I'd love to see more kinds of). If they can somehow get it to work, I would absolutely love to see it!

I am no developer, I guess it just seems so simple that you don't realize the physics that is involved in making that idea come to life. When you have one of if the most popular characters in the comic universe, Superman, in your game who has an emblem on his cape, I just think that that should have been one customization item that should have been there from the get go.

That's so interesting as we had a similar thought and tested it, but sadly our cloth system ended up not being able to work with our emblems. So sad, but we'll keep looking for more ways to add more emblems to our gear!

May I suggest an idea? an accessory in the form of a flat transparent circle, which is located approximately in the place where the emblem would be located and on which any emblem can be placed .... several options are possible - front, side, back....

Something like this might have been possible a few years ago, but it wouldn't be now. The games Cape Physics has improved over the years. Stick on the House of El Cape and then something like Herald of the Black or any recent Cape really. Theres a noticeable difference, especially on the upper half of the Cape. If you look closely you can see the older capes are basically just "bendy Rectangles", and very stiff in the upper half of them. The newer Capes flow more naturally.

The problem with all this is if the accessory was, as you described, a transparent circle, circles don't ripple with the wind, they don't have folds in them. You'd end up with a static emblem constantly clipping through the Cape, likely ending up on the underside of the Cape 80% of the time.

Better tech and better animations always come with more problems and bugs than the older systems, it's just how it works. Theres more variables. Emblemed Capes (Capes with built in Emblems) work because they're just drawn onto the capes themselves. It's not an emblem being placed on it afterwards. It's like the usual "we want bigger emblems" request. The legends characters are basically naked, with texture added, and Emblems drawn on.

Could it be done on a cape that had a top section that's rigid (non-cloth)?

I appreciate the response, I guess if can't be done, it can't be done.

A suggestion... if you can't put multiple emblems on a single cape, why not just release sets of capes with past emblems or those from character creation imprinted on them, like how DCUO released two-toned capes, and have that as the monthly reward. When it comes to future emblems, whether on vendors or in time capsules, instead of just the emblem, put some of the emblems in a pack with a cape that has the emblem attached. Maybe that would mean less emblems being released, but honestly, how many different emblems do people use vs. how many are in the game? In the end, having a bigger variety of capes with emblems on them that having matching chest emblems is all that I'm really looking for.

Could you guys consider/look into adding emblems to the Dresden 7 shoulders? They're huge and flat, perfect for an emblem.

Or maybe a variant style that displays emblems?
