So during the latest event there have been tons of times where someone just sits on their fat *** and gets event currency while everyone else does all the work. Today we ran into one who wouldn't respond or move and so each person in the group tried to kick the person as we didn't want to do all the work for them to profit off of. We were unable to kick the person and got a message saying we couldn't kick "110011blahbla whatever the rest of their name was". Now no one was in combat as we were standing right inside the room and hadn't triggered combat yet so it wasn't a case of combat stopping you from triggering a kick. This needs to be fixed. If you can't fix it so people can actually kick someone who is being a parasite/leech then change the event so that if you do 0 damage or aren't in the room you get 0 rewards!
There's a 5 minute timer before you're allowed to initiate a kick so that is working as intended. However I do agree with you that zero effort should equal zero reward, I've been saying that for years. They have the tech to make this possible because it's available in PvP arenas.
i dont know if this is a bug or if this is intended.... how come 1 person can start an event / all group content. why is there no requirement for all group members to be present before the start of any group content. i'm guessing you should be able to kick anyone before things start. I have way more problems being not allowed entry because someone could not wait for everyone.
That 5 min timer is way too long for an event as the content is so easy it can literally be finished in under a minute.
Just had one of these and ITA- non-contributors should not be eligible for the rewards. It took 7 minutes to get through it with a tank, a healer, and one of my alts dps'g solo with his meager 84 SP. The person eventually showed away so they had to have walked off as soon as they accepted the invitation. It's gross. I get being sick of some instances, I run these seasonals on multiple toons myself but... that's 100% a self-inflicted problem.
Yea it’s really bad for this Homecoming event. I’ve only experienced it a handful of times during the Tides of war event, but I’m experiencing everyday for the Homecoming event. These players are very aware of what they’re doing because they’re the first to leave the instance as soon as loot is dropped.
Unfortunately not a bug, as there is no separate timer for events vs regular combat. I remember from before there was a timer and people just kept kicking until they got their "perfect" group assembled. I have yet to run into a leech for this event but I don't bother running it as much as the other events because there's no point for me, most of the stuff from the vendor is account bound. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see leeches trying to farm collection pieces. I hate event collections with a passion.
In my experience, the worst is Witching Hour and Seasons Greedings. Valentines 2023 was especially terrible for me, but this year not so much. I'm guessing because Witching and Greedings last so long is that people get burnt out by the end but, again, people shouldn't queue it up if they're not going to contribute. Fortunately, I didn't run into a single one during Tides of War or Spring. I'm sure I did last year at least once (first time I ran those) but not enough to dread, "let's see who's going to be lazy in this run," unlike those other events mentioned. Still, I know it all could have been luck on my part with those. Anyway... the timer has its place and is valid- as you mentioned, people kicking to get their "perfect group" vs. going "screw it, we'll do it live!" and that timer giving the person they wanted to kick a chance to prove themselves. There's a balance to be achieved and I think The Lorax nailed it- PVP rewards are already based on participation. The programming logic is already there so, IMO (and experience programming things that aren't games), it shouldn't be a stretch to work that same logic into event instances.
My 2 cents worth: I get annoyed by people who jump into content (events) and don't move. They just stand there and do nothing. This needs fixed!
