    1. Balance a few NEW OP legends, starting with Shazam and Black Adam, despite all the testing and feedback from the community, you ignored this and released them "as is" and what a surprise they are OP.
    2. FFS please fix the 14 second respond bug, its still happing, its been 8 months.
    3. Invisible people- this happens now almost every match someone is invisible, and is un-targetable and is free to block break and wreak havoc as the see fit. its been going on for weeks now.... why can you not pick up on these issues up and fix them?
    4. Its still laggy and buggy, especially on how the latency of the immunities are calculated, how can you possibly get double immunity, or get block broken immediately after you get immunity. And its getting harder to break out of stuns. AGAIN.
    5. Maybe re-look at the other legends and maybe look at a re balance then and ask yourself why some legends are suddenly more popular than ever ( i.e. Catwoman)

Sorry to across as rude, but i raised half of these ( and did a truckload of testing and videos that took a lot of my time showing these issues) nearly six months ago, I got so frustrated I took a long break and came back and am very, very disappointed to discover they ARE still an issue.

Oh DCUO, you have failed your paying customers.

Don't waste your energies. My old league mates have made countless, time consuming posts on the forums about the issues that plague PvP, it's been months after months, and no nothing's changed. I would usually invite an old PvPer back to DCUO with open arms, but to be honest, there's not much here for any of us anymore. I say you go on another couple months... I'll go with you :) when we return hopefully things will be back in order.

Yes, like Thumbs said, don't even bother. They don't care about PvP -> no money from it.

This issue will never be fixed. It's persisted in one form or another for the better part of four years. To their credit, from time to time the development team has made significant efforts to try to fix this issue. Not sure where it stems from but it may be their hardware, something to do with ps3 support (though this does happened on the PC) or some of the coding with the core combat mechanics that simply cannot be or will not be removed from the game. My suspicion is that too much is being asked of their system at the moment of a counter / immunity and all the required messaging that surrounds it.

Waste of a post. There is no effort made to fix pvp. DBG wants devs to focus on PVE as thats where the money is at.

I don't get that thinking. There is a very decent part of the population made up of competitive PvPers that have unsuscribed because of how PvP is. If the devs showed any significant effort towards improving PvP in smarter ways than they have in the past they could very easily get a good chunk of those subs back.

It is probably the quickest way for them to get a bump in subs right now.

It would take alot more than that. Plus you have to look at time and cost to fix pvp. PVP is free nomatter how you put it. However putting in cost to do gu, release the new season requires resources.

So you have to ask yourself, would the devs be willing to stop maybe 1 or 3 GU that work on fixing power balance issues in pve to perhaps work on key fixes in pvp. Considering they have had ample time to think about this. And seeing how they wont even stop to fix simple things, I doubt they will fix pvp anytime soon or let alone set a GU aside for one. Not to mention all of the post in this section of the forums have not gotten any recognition or word from the devs saying that they plan on making some major changes sometime soon.

Keep in mind even if they did say it, it would be later down the line. Kind of like when they said they were going to look at support roles, that was back in gu48, here we are 4 updates later and still nothing but more power balance fixes for pve.

So whats not to get when history has continued to repeat itself. I know some friends who would come back just for pvp. But it would take alot more than just fixing pvp. There would have to be a new season, with new feats, new maps, etc, on top of the general fixes. That is something devs just wont do.

While I can agree with sentiments in this thread in general (and I am not saying all players here, just to clarify) are not receptive to allowing SOE/DGC to make money from PvP. 1) They more or less said "no" to premium paid for maps via Last Laugh, 2) they don't want new twists added to the game modes via stuff like Home Turf, Weapon Mastery or any additional type of consumable (which used to be apart of a DLC at first) and 3) while players will buy Legends characters it is not a secret that female characters won't sell well limiting what they could make in terms of characters.

It is not unreasonable for them to create a "competitive rules" set that would display the fancy unbalanced addition or certain premium maps that would exist normally. If you won't allow them to find a way to make PvP a part of their business model I don't blame them for not focusing the (free) time the community wants them to spend on it for no real gain.

Now yes all of those PvP players that I was referring to will quote, bash and ridicule me for stating the truth of the situation but there is a reason a lot of other competitive game sell map packs or gameplay additions and it is not to "look cool."

The best way to look at the PVP problems is too look at how long these problems have existed, what has been done to sort it, and look at the characters they are selling for PVP.

    Its broken.

    It has been for ages.

They release new characters for legends. (people buy them)

    What problem?

    Done.

    Money talks, that is all.

I complete agree with you, the issues with counter immunities and juggling and breakout etc ebb and flow... its definitely a server side latency issues.. But the issue never really started until immunities were introduced, ( which i love by the way the mechanic itself is fine ) however iI feel may be adding to the issue from an information latency /coding perspective....... or around this period changes were made to coding and hardware which hasn't helped. Probably why they wanted to get rid of it... to try and help alleviate the issue.

I get pvp as a whole. but I want to talk specifically legends.

They had such grand plans for it. making it an e-sport out had such potential..... its crazy addictive ( when it works) and its slightly easier to balance than the multiple tiers of arena pvp. But it just never gets attention. Then to they deliberately release unbalanced OP toons to ensure people will buy them, cause it means an easier win, so they can keep a viable revenue stream. I get it. but it makes me sad.

The feeling I get is that for the last 6-12 months or more.... the game has been going into a bit of a nose dive, the strategies for the game development and marketing seems to be very reactive and continue to change daily, there is little clarity of vision, it feels scattered and sporadic. Obviously changing companies is a big ticket item, and will involve change to everyone including the consumer, but so far tis been a rocky down hill slope.

Also the engine is ageing quite badly when you look at the other MMO's out there... ( destiny, ESO and final fantasy) it does look like a hi res PS2 game sometimes. And with the increased market competition on ps4 ( there are a number of therm now) out there, I feel that daybreak is heavily focused on ROI and profit and cutting unnecessary costs to continue to try and make as much money on this game before a sequel ( if it happens) is released or they need to shut servers.

They have already stated that Everquest is the next crown jewel and that is where they are focusing their time.

Sad but true I loved you for nearly four years DCUO but you are fading my friend. Its sad but inevitable I guess.

I agree with all of this. The saddest things for me? Is the no female characters.....this is really sad, some of the best characerts in DC are female and have not been added to legends which is shame.

And of f the back of that, is how long it takes them to release a legends character.... and then sometimes how BLAND they are I mean a complete cut and paste job...
  13. PsianideUK Well-Known Player

Yes... I absolutely believe that the additional layers that have been added to the combat system over the years has caused the system to trip over itself, I've been saying this for a while.

The thing is, changes were going to be made, step by step, while taking note of how combat felt with each change made before making the next.
Unfortunately several people refused to see the bigger picture and threw conniption fits at the first planned change, removal of immunities. This wasn't a change in a vacuum, it was a testing phase. But it had to be done on live as it needed to be tested in the wild, across all servers and taking all skill levels into account.

But no, certain people wouldn't let that change go forward, so the devs reverted it before it got live, those players got thier way. And where are they now? Playing other games, as pvp in this one is broken.

You want to blame someone for pvp still being broken, blame the the people who couldn't face a major change to combat being the FIRST step, one that could easily have been reverted had it have had a chance to see how it effected latency in combat on the live server.

    Cheers!

It saddens me, when I heard they were removing immunities I thought the same thing, this might return combat back to being much smoother without the continued latency issues. ( which were ZERO prior to immunities) its a shame, I wish the dev could do a test server change and see if that made a difference and educate people on how this could make pvp better.
  15. PsianideUK Well-Known Player

The change was on the test server, and a couple of the bemoaners made a video or two cherry-picking the one issue that occurred, which ironically was caused by the counter windows being too long.

The issue is there are not enough people on the test server, and those that are are the same group who strongly oppose changes to the core mechanics, which is why we're in the situation we are today.

Big changes like this need to be tested on the live server, its the only way to see how it really effects combat in a variety of situations, player abilities, connections and setups. And if it really is a mistake, its simple enough to revert.

This will never be an esport game, and the days of Sony (as was) throwing a few grand at the odd tournament are over. All aspects of the game need to appeal to the main playerbase, which is largely casual.

I personally am worried about the pvp part of this game, as I saw a similar situation occur in my last MMO of choice, City of Heroes. Pvp ended up being a handful of people "scrimming" each other using nothing but Psychic blasters, a Radiation controller and an Empathy healer. And open world constisted of Twixt teleport foe'ing the last few villains into the drones at the hero base. For the short time the devs asked for feedback, they were bombarded with abuse from the "hardcore pvpers" and ended up ignoring pvp and any attempts to fix it... Then the game folded.

I can fully understand why there is a green name wall of silence regarding pvp at the moment, I just hope they've decided to change things as they see fit, its the only sensible option at this point.

    Cheers!

This was not even close to the reason. There were multiple issues, the "issue" you're referring to was simply in 1v1 situations. The removal of the immunity meant 2+v1 situations meant the single player should avoid countering whatsoever. Discouraging the use of counter mechanics is just poor design, it's essentially punishing you for doing something skillful.

And they also happened to be some of the most knowledgeable and skillful players in this game. One in paritcular being one of the top duelists, Legends and arenas players on EUPC since they've played the game and also being the second most skilled player I've ever played against in this game.

We are not in "this" situation because of those players, we are in this situation because the devs have stopped caring and the players they decided to listen to for their "one last try" had absolutely no idea what they were talking about.

Ah... I was expecting you at some point.

I'm not going to back-and-forth with any of you, I have better things to do with my time so quote me all you like. Anyone who has been around on the forum knows what happened, I was simply bringing the op up to speed as they were away.

    Toodle-pip old bean!

The scenario is basically the case anyways with blue immunities against skilled players so you've just pointed out how Blue Immunities can be used to exploit those less skilled when in fact Blue Immunities were introduced to help those less skilled and new players. You just illustrated why Blue Immunities need to be removed or changed.

I added the appropriate text to what you said because some of the most skilled players I've known in this game left with Blue Immunities being partially the reason why they did so.

This is where you are by far the most wrong here. The devs didn't stop caring. The overreaction and pigheadedness of those who were so against the removal of Blue Immunities that they railed and railed against it made the devs throw up their hands in my opinion. The players they decided to listen to did and do know what they're talking about and saw this as the opportunity that we ALL have been wanting to rebuild pvp from the ground up. The overzealously ridiculous outcry against what was the FIRST step in doing this, with absolutely no willingness to compromise by yourself and others that were with you, is what caused the situation we're in right now. Stop looking at yourself as the paragon of pvp for this game and realize that there is a whole community of people that play it and want it working well and those people most likely don't agree with what you consider to be "skill".

I still don't see anything about counter immunity is somehow an exploit. You have used this phrasing several times, but have not yet actually given any reasonable explanation as to how it is an exploit.

And as for skilled players beating less skilled and new players, that will happen with PvP in any form in any game. Removing blue immunities wasn't going to change that. Skilled players would still know what is best and how to use it, heck they would probably be the only once who would know how to counter a counter reliably. If anything that system puts those players at more of a disadvantage.

    Oh God... please move on.
Blue immunity being removed as of now would result in a disaster... more so than we have now. I don't think it should be removed at all and Im not swaying from that.
Though there's other things that need to be majorly toned down
