Can we ever choose to NOT receive loot?

I run into this issue every other Thursday. I log on, "Hey Roomba, wanna do X raid?" "Nah, little buddy. I don't want to do the Normal before the Elite, because I refuse to pay into a replay badge based system anymore. I need to do the Elites first so I can slowly chip away at those Elite-specific styles and feats. I only get two opportunities a month to run Elite raids without resetting them"

It'd be great if I could play whatever content I wanted in whatever order I wanted, without having to choose between elite styles and casual raids/friends. It isn't fun watching more and more of your friends get turned off by the game, only to find that the game tells how you how and when you can play with the few you have left.

Another common occurrence is if youd done a couple of duos or alerts, and you know a good drop is coming your way soon... and you're gonna raid soon. BUT WAIT. Your friend needs help in an alert. Do you A) Help your friend because that's what normal people do but potentially sacrifice good raid loot; or B) Tell your friend later, cry yourself to sleep, but then sleep like a baby knowing you're getting a good raid drop next time you run.

I'd suggest something we can check off while queuing in: "Random loot only, no boss-drops". This could be changed up until the first boss.

TL;DR: Make it so we can turn loot "off" so that we don't blow our chance at elite loot in lesser content.

I wish this can happen ill help through the content but ill be lootlocked for elite version which makes me not want to do it at the same time

so this will be another way to "cheat" the system and make it "less random". i wonder how this will be considered since it will affect RB sales.

Well how about this. Before you go instance you decide. You either chose yes id like loot or no u wouldn't. That way you can't cheat system

how many items have you salvaged? (feat) :p

imho, there should not be weekly resets, but resets every 5 days from when you complete it. (for raids) :D
Like it was in Warhammer Online. a 5 day lockout from raid content you have completed.

I remember parking an alt outside Lost Vale. When an unusable loot drop occurred, if quick enough, could login to alt, join group, enter raid, RUN to boss area, and roll on loot that others didn't need on, so that your alt got it. ...its nice to have two roles per character in DCUO.

hehhehheh, that was the land of Only seeing Boss Legs and Feet. hehhehhehheh bosses so big. camera control'ish.

Ohhh, if DCUO's PvP phase were altered to be a WvW map with objectives..... /imagines. hmmmmm.
Due to there being relatively no gameplay value from rank 30s scalping rank 5s in PvP phase, and fairly no value to PvP cities with the ability to manually enable PvP flag in PvE phase.... yeah. that can be done. Make PvP phase a WvW map! control points of interest to gain help at the won point of interest by a Iconic character. One more reason to discontinue PvP gear, and add max toughness to all gear. per role. flat out. Let Combos, buffs, debuffs, attacks determine PvP, not toughness. one less math equation to do per ever.

Will it be zerg vs Zerg? most likely. can mega server handle it? with limitations of quantity in instance. Can we destroy buildings? not yet. Are there power ups to grab for you and your group? maybe. Do we beat enemy players defending a location and win the objective? Yes, but if an enemy NPC is there. Your side must beat that NPC too. Why is Ace-O-clubs in the game as a location in Metropolis? I've no idea. What about Metropolis CAO dam? your guess is as good as mine. (objective wins lead to, flood the city and Villains win!!! then reset the city. and try to destroy or save the city? /shrug. Heros win... meh. not likely. what would that be like?)

We should also be allowed to customise where the group loot indicator appears on-screen. Its always been distracting that its right smack in / near the center.

For new players, its good to have it front and center. But after a while, its better to just leave it to the side.

Ideally, the time bar indicator for the group loot can be customised to be shown or hidden.

crap just lost a long post in here. what did i say in the post? ****

Then I'd ask you to re-read my OP. I don't want to have to decide between "rewards for difficult content" and "playing with friends". Isn't that the whole point of an MMO?
  10. Roomba Dedicated Player

Yes, but raid purples are better than duo blues.

I'm not sure you understand how loot works. In this game, each boss has a set of "rare drops" aka "good loot". In a nut shell, the longer you got without getting one of these drops, the higher your chance is in getting one... to the point that you're guaranteed a rare drop on the 5th or 6th drop (I forget which).

So yeah, if I've gone 4 drops in a row with crap loot, I'd rather go into a raid to get a good drop from there, than a duo, where I'd only get a crummy blue.
  11. AgentX44 Committed Player

uhm, what's the difference? I would say it's still "cheating".

But wasn't that what you wanted?
And FYI, duos don't affect the "bad-luck counter" for alerts and raids. And it only affects the current T7 content going forward. So if you go to a T6 raid to help friends, it will not affect your counter
  12. Roomba Dedicated Player

Ahh okay thanks. But I know it still holds for alerts, and obviously the normal raids.

I'm saying, I think it's silly that just by participating in normal content, that I decrease my chances/forfeit my right to POTENTIALLY receive "good loot".

If there are other people pinching pennies like me, doesn't this encourage elitism? Why would I help pugs when it slows my own personal character development?
  13. AgentX44 Committed Player

I understand where you are coming from. But we should also think about this as a business. Maybe if DCUO went back to being subscription only, then we can do this. But I would think they will lose more revenue by going that route. Like they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

We once had that type of lootsystem (a few drops to split between the group) people complained it was unfair. But regarding the lockout or loot drop system, it forces me to play very rarely which is a good thing for me personaly but bad concidering there is nothing to do in-game.
  15. mexmex Dedicated Player

Yes this is why I only run with my main the two latest raid and duos or solos so I log in just to hang if Im loot locked i get to do only one or two raid per week, and dont risk my chance to get something screwing my chances of get some purple I dont need
  16. Sapphire Melody Well-Known Player

I'd argue this hurts the game more than the potential loss in RB. If I can't play with my friends in an MMO because it will hurt my character progression, something is truly f*d up. People get frustrated and feel pushed into spending money for things they don't really want to spend money on because of these things. Frustrated people leave the game, leaving it with less money, people to play with and reccomendations to friends.

And btw. it's stupid enough you have to complete the normal version every two weeks to play elite. This whole concept is just so...wrong.

RNG luck is BS in general.

Do you realize that Duos and Alert bad luck has no affect to raids loot drops? Totally different system......

Problem solved, now you can help your friends without worrying.

You are correct that solo and duo loot does not affect the "bad luck" limiter, but it does count on alerts. If you get a purple drop from DPR or DPE your luck limiter is reset. It also resets if you are running relevant raids (that give marks) but technically has useless cr gear ( such as UMR).

I understand where the OP is coming from, but really expect no changes as Replay Badges are kings to the money side of this game.
