Can his powers be enhanced to give them DPS life?

Devs better start changing some numbers and stats already, as an atomic dps main, i can say that AoE attacks are sufficient but when it comes to 1v1 targets, it is just too slow and the power consumption makes it worse. One thing I've realised by losing %20 of my damage after changing to tank role, I still can damage, heal and use less power. This means Atomic is pretty good at tanking but not even close to being good at DPS.

Which can all be accounted for with.. wait for it. Skill. If you orbital a boss that has the tendency to jump around or charge and you miss. That is 100% on you. If you drop your supply drop or SC during an invulnerable state and lose out on the buffs/damage. That is on you.

So explain this to me that you keep not answering. What if the other player also has latency issues yet still comes out on top? What if they too face rng issues yet still comes out on top? What about me? I don’t even art swap get still come out on top. There will always be something to blame for things. Rng happens all the time. You keep taking these conversations as absolutes when we keep saying that there is a difference between using the scoreboard and scoreboard chasing. I personally do not scoreboard chase and yet I rarely get out dpsed. When I do get out dpsed I don’t pout and moan blaming outside factors. I’m happy to see better players than myself and find ways to improve that fall within what I’m willing to do.

How many times have we been in a raid and Slim had to tell me to start using my SCs lol. So you know damn well I’m the furthest thing from a scoreboard chaser lol
  3. Dev72 Dedicated Player

Never called you a scoreboard chaser...so, let's not take that out of context. We can play "what ifs" all day long...what I am not understanding is that you place everything behind "skill" when you know damned well that skill doesn't relate to certain factors not within the control of the player that has an affect on the outcome.
  4. DeitySupreme Unwavering Player

I never said that skill was absolutely everything. I’ve already explained that MULTIPLE times which you yourself keep ignoring. However skill ha always been and always will be the main factor. Everything in the game can be overcome with enough skill. As I’ve stated multiple times over and over, all the stats and gear are all amplifiers to the individual player skill level. A lower geared and more laggy player can overcome and out perform a better geared player with less skill. This is just basic. All the excuses in the world do not outweigh actual skill.

Orbitals keep missing? Learn to predict enemy attack patterns.
Keep waiting buffs due to invulnerable phases? Learn the different phases and plan accordingly
Have some latency? Learn when adds spawn and how they move to pre fire attack’s accordingly
Keep messing up rotation because there are to many overlapping mechanics? Practice loadout and rotation to the point of muscle memory to free yourself to focus on the other rng things that are happening.

Skill is and always will be the deciding factor on once performance. All the excuses in the world doesn’t change this very basic fact.
  5. Dev72 Dedicated Player

Why are you contradicting yourself? First you say skill isn't absolutely everything...and then say everything can be overcome through skill.

As said before, excuses are used to defend fault...I have never defended fault of the player. I am citing reasons which uses facts and logic that affect outcome.

Stopping to do pick-ups. That's a choice behind reason.
Stopping to do mechanics. That's a choice behind reason.
Choosing to not prefire or prefire during latency. (Arguable considering the margin of error, and prefiring also still results in loss of damage due to however many tics of damage not initially registering.) That's a choice behind reason.
Missed rotation when a portion of the tray is red, again arguable behind lag accompanied with latency. Can't hit a power if it is red and in a perpetual cool down...That is a choice behind reason.

The list goes on and on, and certainly isn't affected by your own skill level.

Overcoming does not mean an absolute. It’s not replacing everything else. It’s using what you have at your disposal and making the best of the situation you’re in.

Stopping to do a pick up will not result in being doubled. Blocking during a skull will not result in being doubled. I do all those things regularly and still rarely every get out dpsed. I have out dpsed players fully geared on my farmer toons without maxed arts and with roughly 200sp while using orcl and cyborg for passives siting at 405cr. Skill was able to overcome being out geared. Does that mean that I can take out all my gear and still do it? No. But skill helps overcome. Again not talking in absolutes like you.

Just yesterday I was in TTe and I was top overall damage and second boss damage by a few mil. The dps ahead of me and behind me were both art swapping while I was not. I also had 7 pick ups. We also all did mechanics. Rng could’ve played a role into being lower boss damage. But you know what else could’ve played a role? The other dps was just better. Both were swapping, I out dpsed one while one out dpsed me. So art swapping itself was not a factor in being out dpsed. The player effectively art swapping (IE skill) however did.

Rng happing does now automatically dismiss the scoreboard entirely. You can effectively use the scoreboard to gauge the capabilities of the players while also using the actual raid to further back up the data. If you were in a raid and you can see what was happening then you should be able to use game play in combination with the board to have an educated assessment of the quality of the players.

But I’m done replying. It’s clear that we won’t agree on this.
  7. DeitySupreme Unwavering Player

Or you can try to find better set ups? What’s your loadout? Rotation? Arts? Allies? What’s your set up? Because I can pretty confidently assume you’re not using an optimal build and then blaming the power itself.

it seems that you also forget the problem of the unequal travel mode in competition, super-speed is too comfortable compared to other travel modes that can hardly play properly. I am really shocked to see how this difference did not once shock the devs in more than 11 years of existence of the game...
  9. Dev72 Dedicated Player

Now you are just putting words in my mouth and claiming I am using absolutes...I am not.

I have never said anything about anyone being 'doubled in damage".

You can have your experiences, and I can have mine. No two runs are the same, and no two outcomes in relation to board numbers will be exactly the same...which kind of proves my point.

I am with you..I am done talking about it.
  10. DeitySupreme Unwavering Player

Sounds like a you problem. All my toons are flight and have absolutely no issues getting to places before speed users.
  11. TI99Kitty Loyal Player

My main is Superspeed, and I can confirm. A lot of the time, I can pass Flight toons. But sometimes, they can keep up with me, and once in a while can pass me. And that's just on flat terrain, running in a straight line.

If there are obstacles, Superspeed has to either go around the obstacle, or go over/under it. Either way, it takes extra time. Meanwhile, Flight is taking the most direct straight-line path.

I’d lone for them to remove the scoreboard and have been saying it for years. They never will though. At this point you can use a testing dummy to see how much dps you’ll be doing in any situation. It may not be accurate to a particular raid or alert, but it will still be approximate.

But before removing it I would like them to rework the testing dummies in our league halls and personal bases. Where you set up the testing dummy with specific criteria like boss health add health for damage etc. for healers I’d like them to be able to set up the dummy where it’s taking damage where the healer can get a sense of how much heals they are pumping out. I’d like it to be set up to where the dummy is doing damage to you like have it to boss level damage add level damage, and maybe have it do a near one shot “skull damage” to see how much a tank can tank through. For trolls I’d like them to be able to power heal the dummy setting how fast it’s going through it’s power bar to see if the troll can keep up, make it to where a troll can see how strong their control effects work on boss type dummy’s, adds etc b

I know that this will only give an idea of how much dps you’re doing how good you are healing etc. but it definitely shows your potential.

But raids aren’t exact either or any instance circumstances can vary and the toxicity they derives from the scoreboard can be juet plain vile, and if a run is struggling more often then not the one who is lowest in damage will be kicked unless it obviously a tanking healing issue, when most the time it’s a pick up, ignore mechanic issue (from my own observations)

Also another thing that it hinders is any art that could have a “synergy”

I wasn’t an eog person I don’t even have full 200 arts now I have exactly 3- 200 arts.two dps and one tank. Eog is a good example of an art that more people would use if it wasn’t for the score board, as it’s used right now it’s obvious what some do with it I’ve seen it several times now. The dps wirh eog will spot out who is doing the most damage prior to the first boss fight and will make sure when it’s time to drop the eog circle under that person, now their damage out goes up, and then person who gave them their damage is mad.

Eso has abilities that do this and some do massive damage when another person interacts with an ability. Because of the scoreboard this will never be, cause I guarantee most dps would never use an art where it provided a synergy that a member interacts with it will give that group member Heavy damage towards the target, and why would they use that art? I with the way the community is today I don’t blame people from walking out of the orange circles from eog.

No scoreboard tho and this is no longer an issue, and groups begin to work together more. When someone’s down most people would pick them up, there is a mechanic to be done no problem going to help with it.

As it is now especially in pug runs a mechanic pops up and someone can be standing right next to the cog and wait to see if anyone else will come press it I’ve seen this in TTr/e so many times, whether it’s someone down or one or the mechanics. Pops up.

Will it 100% fix these issues no but I’ve played other games without a scoreboard and the community in group content is a whole lot more team focused even in pug runs then I’ve seen in most my pug runs on dcuo.

Anyway that’s my opinion and my own observations/experiences. If anyone feels the need to “correct me” don’t worry you’re not in any danger of losing your scoreboard with me posting this. Just take it for what it is my opinion and my own experience

Funny thing is that I only learned to do it because I hated using speed and getting stuck on lamppost when I first started playing. What’s even more funny is that my first toon was an electric speedster because the flash was my favorite hero growing up. Electric is still my favorite power but I hate speed. Not to mention the speedster mechanics made me hate them in game haha (zoom and them with their constant moving around and pulling us in lol).

ah well, it's me? so in that case, why do all dps try to play super-speed to be better at dps?

Because most people don’t actually test things out and just switch to whatever they are either told or imagine to be the best set up.

Some good insight here. Thanks. Here's my question for you guys who've been here- What criteria has the game operations team cited as its trigger for past individual powerset adjustment efforts? Any dev quote or link? Consensus among the players seems like a longshot for sure. Take care
