Can his powers be enhanced to give them DPS life?

You assume an equal footing or minimal contribution from lag/latency…but they do exist

But it’s white noise compared to the impact of experienced gameplay vs inexperienced gameplay.

Pop a trinket in a hallway where there’s 1 group of adds vs at a boss fight where you can sustain damage on a target for the full time of the buff…THAT makes an impact on the scoreboard, not the “white noise” of latency/lag.

No one will take anyone seriously who says you can’t get a ‘sense’ of a run from the scoreboard and I don’t think anyone is taking the specific numbers on the scoreboard as gospel…

The scoreboard has serious flaws…supply drop healing on NPCs…but general senses can be garnered.

There is no such thing as equal footing in this game. If that were the case, everyone would be producing the same numbers which kind of goes without saying...and alludes to the flaws previously mentioned; that is if everyone in the run is of the same CR level and have comparable stats.

If a player pops a trinket on adds, means that either 1) They realize they have better AOE than single target so they can show at least they are producing some sort of numbers...or 2) they know that the trinket will be on cooldown during the boss fight which allows for an extra pop of said trinket during the run.
  3. Plowed In Loyal Player

    Equal footing, meaning equal opportunity.

There is 1 enemy and everyone can use what’s in their toolkit to help reduce its health to “0.”

Experienced gameplay vs inexperienced gameplay and stat differences will account for the majority of the gap (chasm) between players, not lag/latency.

I've seen people talking about "not being the power but the person using it".

Dude, what world do you live in?

Of course, there is a difference between, just us taking you with that power that is ****, against the top dmg in a plus and we see how you do.

Yes Plowed that’s pretty much what I was arguing. That while there may be latency from player to player it’s not a big of an impact as Dev is claiming. Looking at someone who out dpsed you or me and saying it doesn’t count because of latency is just an excuse. What’s to say they didn’t have more latency issues than you?

The number power factor that players a role into performance is skill. The better the player the easier time they will have in their chosen role. This is the difference between a tank dying within seconds of pulling adds and a tank not dying unless there are team wipe mechanics. The difference between a healer not being able to heal raids without wipes and/or other healers or a healer being able to solo heal in a smooth run. And so on. If you suspect latency issues then as a player you need to adjust accordingly.

Regardless of level of impact...It is still an impact even at 1% or lower but, still above 0% which still affects outcome making the system flawed even at that percentage. If there wasn't an impact at all(meaning no latency exists, which we have agreed...it does), my position would change...which is a reason...not an excuse.

A reason is a cause or explanation based on facts and logic while an excuse specifically justifies or defends a fault, which is what you are using defending the scoreboard.

    End result...board numbers mean nothing.
  7. Plowed In Loyal Player

Don’t let “perfect” be the enemy of the “good.” Theoretical “white noise” can be dismissed as incidental…you can still get a general sense/good measurement of difference between players with the scoreboard.

No one is claiming that there is surgical precision with the numbers on the scoreboard, which is the bar you have set with your argument.

At this point we’re talking past each other..

If that were the case...there would be no DPS comps...nor anyone running ahead of the group so they can get their numbers in which often results in toxic shame behind a flawed system and measurement of what is considered "good". Completing content should be the measuring factor...not some number that measured "good" in a flawed system that we agree there are flaws in..in some way and percentage.

"Incidental" whether intended or not will always be a factor, especially in a game predicated on RnG, and is yet another issue entirely that affects those numbers as well.

Again, for all intents and purposes, it works, even with its inherit random errors.

It’s silly to think that everyone who plays this game would put their “bravado” aside simply because of statistics…that most don’t understand.

If you don’t like the attitudes of those that are competitive, then stat away from that crowd. You need to be able to lay back and laugh at the kid running full speed around the track while everyone else is walking…but only if he’s talking smack to you. If he’s keeping to himself, who cares, he’ll help you get done faster ;)

If that’s the case there wouldn’t be any esports. If 1% is enough for you to dismiss the rest of the results that that’s 100% on you. There is a reason why there’s an acceptable margin of error in every field. At this points it’s just excuses.

There is a difference between using the scoreboard to gauge performance and scoreboard chasing. It’s not black and white. The board is a good tool when used right. But just like every tool it can be used wrong.
  11. Dev72 Dedicated Player

I laugh at them regardless....especially when they start all that chest beating...that is before I leave the content. They want that SB so much...they can have it. There have been a few occasions when a player runs ahead of the group that I just sit back and watch....followed up with a quick little group text with "So...what did we learn?" after they subsequently get Ko'd.
  12. Dev72 Dedicated Player

Ok, so you would use a flawed system as a 100% factor regardless of percentages within the margin of error....got it...

That board can show the rest of the field who is probably the best DPS and content still won't get completed...In otherwords, you can be a great DPS and still suck because that value means so much over working mechanics and completing the content to the scoreboard chaser.
  13. Plowed In Loyal Player

Quite frankly, that sounds a little “jerk-y” as well. People make mistakes and have different paces at which they play. If these are random players I would default to asking questions first, rather than presuming to know that they’re scoreboard chasing…

I’ve been caught before too, “Oops, not in tank role, shoot…”

You can also get a sense of who is chasing and who isn't. Especially when running with those affiliated with "elitist" leagues where they have a history of SB chasing. Those with a history of being a dick behind the SB gets no tolerance from me.
  15. DeitySupreme Unwavering Player

Again… There is a difference between using the scoreboard and chasing the scoreboard… You keep saying it’s a flawed system. If 1% margin of error is enough for you to dismiss it then literally everything is a flawed system. So why even play games? Why even comment? Sorry but this is just coming off as excuses to why someone beat you (not you personally).

If you get out dpsed by 10mil in a raid where they had 120m and you had 110m then that is still a large enough gap to realize that they have better damage output. You keep saying that the latency would put you at a disadvantage without acknowledging that everyone deals with it to some degree. Just because you have it and got out dpsed does not mean that they didn’t beat you while also having it.

What if someone was working mechanics, or ran into RnG issues when they were prepping up a art swap, and doing pick-ups..etc? There are other factors behind just an existing latency effect that affects the SB. Especially...when a player drops their pets, then swaps their orbital..then pops that orbital with DKS, then swaps to Larnae's, then hits their super clipping that with a buff trinket and supply drop. That is easily 8-10mil damage right there alone that could easily be interrupted.

But I guess all that doesn't count..."Ooopsiieee.. He messed up behind a situation out of his control...which means I am king top dog."
  18. Dev72 Dedicated Player

Hmmm...noted...With that said, we should all not be so judgmental when considering factors around the SB. TBH, we would be alot better off if it weren't there to begin with.

On that we agree. It’s a relic of the PVP-focus the game had early on.

  20. NameOrNot New Player

I would really like to see new capabilities for the current powers so that I can imagine a new build, because currently, since the release of each power, they have received no novelty except to undergo nerves see a visual redesign for some, but I would really like to have the possibility to rediscover my power through a new gameplay and question build, it's almost always the same thing see for others impossible to really change like the green lantern.

I don't know if people here know a certain Guild wars 2, but in its last years, Guild Wars has allowed professions (classes) to have new gameplay through new weapons, I don't know if DCUO can add new provisions, but it would be really nice to be able to rediscover our power through new capabilities specific to each power currently existing.

If really, they are no longer able to develop a new complete power for any reason, they could at least make the effort to open a new way of playing the powers that already exist in the game, without artifact, even proposing new Supercharge, it has been more than 11 years that we have been shooting on the same thing in DCUO, so novelty would not be too requested now.

The iconic powers, okay, they're there, but frankly, seeing 50 people with the same abilities, is really not fun in the long run, and then, if I buy a power, it's to play the power in question, not end up with an iconic power build!

Please thank you for your thoughts has something about it, instead of drowning us in a rain of artifacts and allies, which I think is currently more than enough now!
