Didn't say that they did say it was, was just pointing that his example doesn't really work here as the DS Batsuit was never an exclusive (and also still available)
They would have been (bat)suited ( :p ) to have used the re-coloured Plasma's as "an example"

This talk about exclusive items is silly. Did Sony say at the time that these gifts would be exclusive forever? Or are you just assuming that?

Let me tell you a few things about Sony's trust. On PS Home Sony was retiring well known styles. They made announcements that these styles would no longer be for sale, forever. "Get them while you can". They would be exclusive for all who bought them as no one new would be able to get them. One of these was the hamster outfit. I almost never spent money buying things on Home, but they convinced me to get it. And after it expired a group called the Homelings which used the outfit as a symbol of their club complained. So Sony went back on their word and brought it back. Daybreak can do the same thing if they see demand.

Another thing is in the late 80's Sony put full page ads in newspapers in Latin America saying "Beta es para siempre. Palabra de honor. Palabra de Sony." = "Beta is forever. Our word of Honor. The word of Sony". Ten years later Sony made their last Beta VCR. So for Sony forever is 10 years. Do not trust any explicit declaration. Don't count on exclusivity. If people want the old styles back don't be elitist.

Except we aren't talking about Sony. We're talking about SOE/Daybreak.

In 2005, SOE threw the NGE at Star Wars Galaxies, and one of the results was that Jedi (which had previously been a profession that took a lot of time and effort to unlock) would be a playable profession from the start. As a way of acknowledging and thanking players who put in the time and effort to unlock Jedi, they gave exclusive Jedi robes and lightsaber crystals to pre-NGE Jedi players.

The game finally shut down just over six years after the NGE, and in all the time those pre-NGE Jedi gifts stayed exclusive, regardless of the number of threads requesting/demanding/pleading for those gifts to be made available to all Jedi players. They could have opened those gifts up to post-NGE Jedi players after they announced the shutdown of the game, but they didn't.

As far as DCUO goes? As the OP pointed out, it's been about eight years since the hack, and guess what? Those hack gifts are still exclusive to those players who were a part of the hack and its aftermath. Same goes for the pre-order exclusive items. And the one-year anniversary cape. And the items tied in with particular Booster Bundles.

There's plenty to criticize Sony for, and SOE/Daybreak have made more than their fair share of mistakes and missteps. But when it comes to "exclusive" meaning "exclusive," SOE/Daybreak has a pretty good track record of holding to their word.

Players can want those old styles all they wish. But that doesn't mean they are entitled to them, especially if they missed their window of opportunity for getting them or simply don't meet the criteria for getting them.

Just a point of clarificationing: those items aren't exclusive to the players who were affected at the time, butt to the characters, only three out of seventeen characters have those gear, because they were the only ones created prior to the hack

It is with extreme caution we would consider bringing back past items like these. They were special gifts from specific times meant as a sincere thank you.
