City police announced Thursday that Jerrell A. Brown, 32, was the driver of a vehicle that struck Harris while he rode his bike around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday near South Salina Street and Brighton Avenue on the city’s South Side.

April 8 update on COVID-19 in MN: 39 dead Gov. Tim Walz said Wednesday he’s extending his stay-at-home order for Minnesota through May 4 as state leaders work to slowly reopen parts of the economy without worsening the spread of COVID-19. The new order means bars and restaurants will remain takeout-only for roughly another month. Landscapers, however, are exempt from the extended stay-home order, allowing golf courses, for instance, to begin grooming courses in anticipation of opening.

Lonnie Dench, whose wife, Wanda, sent a text presumably to her grandson but actually to Jamal Hinton four years ago, died over the weekend, according to Hinton, who spent the last four Thanksgivings with the family. "Wanda told me all the love and support he was receiving put a huge smile on his face so I thank every single one of you guys for that!" he wrote on Twitter. Hinton, 20, previously had tweeted that both Lonnie and Wanda had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. As of Thursday, Wanda was no longer sick, Hinton said.
Eagles TE legend Pete Retzlaff passes away at 88 Legendary tight end Pete Retzlaff, a co-captain of the Philadelphia Eagles' 1960 NFL Championship squad, passed away Friday morning due to natural causes, the team announced. He was 88. "We are saddened to learn of the passing of Eagles Hall of Famer Pete Retzlaff. Pete was a revolutionary tight end and one of the most productive players in the history of our franchise," Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement. "He was a five-time Pro Bowler, a key contributor on our 1960 Championship team, and of course his number 44 was retired after he established numerous receiving records over his 11-year career. But Pete's legacy goes far beyond the success he was able to achieve on the field. 94-year-old resident at Hanover senior community dies from COVID-19 The Harmony Collection at Hanover notified their assisted living community that a 94-year-old resident who recently tested positive for COVID-19 has died. Mark Hubbard, a spokesperson for the community from McGuireWoods Consulting, confirmed to 8News that the resident passed away at a Mechanicsville hospital. The news comes one day after 8News reported that one resident and three employees tested positive for COVID-19.
Arrest made in shooting at Melrose Street and Self Circle A Jonesboro man was in custody Friday in connection with a shooting that killed another man, according to Jonesboro police. Jonesboro police said in a Facebook post that Adrian Bellinger, 19, of Jonesboro was arrested in connection with the shooting of Robert Green. According to an online jail roster with the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office, Bellinger was booked into the jail around 8:10 p.m. April 10 on a homicide-murder-1st degree charge. Jonesboro Police made an arrest in the afternoon homicide of a 30 year-old male.
25-year CPD veteran becomes second officer to die of COVID-19 complications A second Chicago police officer has died of COVID-19 complications, the department confirmed Friday. The officer was a sergeant in the Area Central detective division. His identify is not known at this time The department currently has 151 confirmed cases of COVID-19 after 17 more were announced Thursday. The officer's passing comes after the death of 21-year veteran Officer Marco Di Franco, 50, who was laid to rest Thursday in a private burial service.

Goodies star Brooke-Taylor dies with coronavirus Comedian Tim Brooke-Taylor has died at the age of 79 with coronavirus, his agent has confirmed to the BBC. The entertainer, best known as one third of the popular 1970s show The Goodies, and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, died on Sunday. Goodies co-star Bill Oddie called him a "true visual comic and a great friend". The third member of the trio, Graeme Garden, said he was "terribly saddened by the loss of a dear colleague and close friend of over 50 years". "He was a funny, sociable, generous man who was a delight to work with. Audiences found him not only hilarious but also adorable."
