Booster Buyer Remorse

I don't typically fall for gimmicks, but last night I took the gamble. I really like some of the newer aura styles and materials in game, so far I have been pretty unfortunate to actually obtain them either by using in game cash and the broker, or actually getting them through the time capsule system.

I wasn't especially impressed with the version of the material offered, no offense, just not as cool or elaborate as some of the other versions I have seen produced, but the tint-able metallic aura looked really neat to me. I mean, there was this guy flying around with one on in the WT, all I can say is wow.

I decided to roll the dice, see if I could be the one in a trillion lucky guy, buy a bundle and hit it big. I mean someone has to win right?

Well I failed. I ended up with the red filament. Bummer. Not exactly the color you would choose for someone who presently a green lantern. I typically like the aura's to match my powers color if possible and red wasn't going to cut it. I didn't put it on.

What to do. I still felt relatively lucky, lets try a second roll of the dice... Purple filament. Great. Maybe swap back to mental? I decided to keep trying until I get either a Green filament or the uber coveted tint-able. I pressed my luck.

Third roll, green filament. Well at least I can match the color of my power, right...? I slipped it on, only to see the little parts of it were yellow... great. I failed to notice the color variations in the pics in my haste.

Green and Yellow highlighted aura lantern? Not exactly cannon. Its doubtful I will use this aura simply because of the yellow highlight tints it has.

So I'm $30 down, and relatively little to nothing of any real use for me. Sure, there are the other items that come in the bundles, but the meat and potatoes of the booster bundle will always be the auras. If anyone is purchasing the bundles simple for the other items, not the auras, please stand up and let me know...

In short, I failed on three rolls to get what I really wanted. I knew the odds were stacked against me. I am an adult. I took the risk. I failed. Percentage wise, that was the predetermined likely result. Today, I have some remorse for seemingly tossing $30 away in a matter of just a few minutes. This wont break me by any means, but it was far from money well spent. I could have opened how many time capsules? Not that I have been buying keys, mind you.

After my experience, I will be less inclined to do so again in the future. You guys got me. Congrats. You dangled a little carrot and I chased after it like a big hungry rabbit.

Whats your booster bundle buying experience? Did you get what you coveted?

For those that are going to purchase a bundle, good luck to you, I hope your luck is better than mine.

Atleast you got what you paid for, you got 3 out of X amount of different auras that all share the one and the same loot table, with the rare chance of the material in there aswell. Unless you're premium, you're also able to sell those auras for a quick and decent amount of millions if you haven't already.

If you still have them and the price has dropped more than what you wanted to sell them for, then hold on to them to get max value in a few months from now. Compare your sitation to what you would most likely end up with after spending 30 bucks on a Time Capsule and it should instantly put you in a better mood. ;)

Thanks Zneeak! I have already pondered the options, to hold the auras remaining unopened until a future date, sell them for quick cash, or possible transfer them to an alt. I could have gotten several collections from the time capsules mind you, they aren't cheap on the broker either so I am unsure if either method is better than the other.

Think of these as investments. Hold onto then for awhile.

I usualy move the materials/rare stuff to shared bank so I don't acedently use it and sell the auras thats got a decent prize on it :)

    Really??

For $30 he got 3 common Auras that will be worth very little $$$ on the Broker by now.
In ONE day the price went from $30M to $3M.... less then $3M in some cases.
How much do you think those will be worth later today?? or tomorrow??? or next week??

For $30 with TC... he would have roughly 10 pieces of gear...... 10 emblems.... and 10 collections.

The Collections alone would allow him to make more $$$ on the Broker then 3 common Auras.

The red was around 3.5 last night, the purple was even less, so your prices are about right.

Compound that with more booster bundles, time capsules, and additional cooler auras becoming available in the future... I am probably just going to eat them over time when I find out they didn't go up in value at all.

Had I spent that $30 on time capsules, I could have gotten a lot more than two items to work with to make a tidy in game profit.

But if he hangs on to those auras for a few months (for best results maybe a little longer- 6 months-to a year) he will be able to sell them for much more than they are currently going for since they will be very rare. Like the poster said earlier, think of them as investments.

But in 3 - 6 - 12 months, there will be new auras... cooler. better. more desired.

    Define "awhile".

Some Common Auras from previous years like Glimering sell for less then $2M.

Sure some sell for more then that..... but it took like 2 or 3 years for those to be worth that much.

Holding an aura for 3 years hoping it will be worth maybe $5M+ after 3 years???

reading your post just made me more determind not to buy any BB
i'll buy 1 or 2 auras from broker and that's it
but if they let me choose the aura when i open BB,i would probably spend atleast $20-$30 like you did
buy one i really want for main, and 1 or 2 for alts or to stack or sell on broker and keep my in game cash for
    other things

Yeah, you guys may be right in that the market might not improve much for the more common auras in the BB. But choosing to wait for a better market due to scarcity that is a possibility (even if it is a small improvement) is surely better than selling in the guaranteed over saturated prices the market has now.

Yes, but he got what he wanted. Would he be able to say that with TCs? Would he be wearing a single aura right now? I think not.

Right now the Purple one is $2.75M..... and the Red is the most expensive at $4.8M.

But it is still early today.... so odds are prices will be much lower by the end of the day.

Yeah... spending that $30 on TC would have been a better option.

Last time I bought BB was to get the Cosmic mat.
I bought 8 BB with real $$$... and 4 more using ..... Loyalty Points?? or what was Daybreak Cash at the time???

And after spending the equivalent of $120.... I got ONE uncommon aura.... and the rest were ALL common auras.

And the common auras were worth very little $$$ on the Broker.
So selling the common auras to buy a Cosmic mat was NOT an option.

So I had to farm for $$$ the old fashion way to buy the Cosmic mat.
    Bought 2 Cosmic for $60M. A third for $100M.

So I understand how you feel.
I pretty much swore I would never buy a BB ever again after that.

And how much have you spent on TCs since then?

    No I didn't get what I wanted.

What I wanted was the metallic, what I initially settled for was the green filament, only to see it has yellow in it and is useless to me as a green lantern, IMO...

Time capsules I would have had far more chances, around 30, to get something of value.

Of note: There were 3 or 4 of the metallics last night selling for $98 - $125 million on broker, pocket change for some, but not for me.

My post is neither to encourage or discourage the purchase of booster bundles. I am an adult, I took a swing, I missed. Better luck next time, should I fail to temptation again.

A single Aura??? (EDIT; Oups..... it turns out he did NOT get what he wanted :( )

With TC he would have MULTIPLE emblems for his character.
Heck he could have emblems for MULTIPLE characters.

He would have MULTIPLE pieces of style for his character.

If he is not at end game he would have MULTIPLE pieces of gear for his character.

Heck with a bit of luck trading selling the Collections or emblems he does not want ..... he could have a FULL set of gear/style.

But instead.. he has a SINGLE aura.

Are people forgetting that common collections, emblems, and gear pieces often go for cheap on the broker? Some are worth about 2k. So, depending on your luck, for $30 in TCs you might only make 60k but selling the items. And the least expensive auras are still going for over a million, so you'd get over 3 million from 3 BBs.

Don't forget that with TCs the rare collection for the to item in the capsule is the only thing that really retains value. Most everything else continues to fall in value, especially common and uncommon items.
