So this is the second time I've seen this same vile toon running around, and I'd name them here but not only is their character name horrifically anti-Semitic, but I'm guessing the blacklisting rule would protect them. This time, they were dressed as a Klan wizard, top to bottom. How and where do I report this? Why are extremely offensive terms like what shows up in this toon's name not filtered at name selection?

Really would appreciate a PM from someone on this.

    Take a screenshot,

Log in to the Daybreak Support website > https://help.daybreakgames.com/hc/en-us

Click contact support in the top right hand corner

Complete the support ticket > attach the screenshot along with a message

They will then take action as deemed appropriate, you will not find out what, if any action was taken however.

Bit late for the screenshot but I can do the rest. Still would like to know why these kinds of anti-Semitic things aren't filtered for.

If the name is racist then you can just report the name and they will take action because they will find the player.

The reason things get around the filter is because despite best efforts people will use other letters and variations of letters to make it appear the same, commonly for example you will see people use uppercase "i" to look like a lowercase "L"

It's a game of cat and mouse because you can't generally account for every possible variation in a filter because there's literally heaps to consider.

Nah, not this name. It's entirely in English with all normal letters. It's just entirely unfiltered for.

Probably just an omission, chuck the support ticket through and I'm sure they'll fix it up. If you were really curious, chuck the guy on your ignore list and wait to see what his name gets changed too ;)

All support tickets of any sort should be filed here: https://help.daybreakgames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I hate the bigots and haters in the game and hate even more those who make apologies for people who violate the TOS. Thanks for doing your bit to fight the good battle.

Yeah, might have just not thought of this particular thing. There's so many horrendous names people can come up with there's no way to think of them all as you first set up the system, so a few are gonna slip through the cracks and have to be squashed as they come up.

if you're on a PS4 and have a YouTube account, you can also submit a video clip of the interaction - if there was any chat channel interaction taking place this handily encapsulates it.

Hit the "Share" button, Square to "Save Video Clip" (or just "Share Video Clip"), then title and describe the clip, upload to Youtube, when the upload completes? Go to the Video in your channel, select "Share", YouTube will give you a link, then submit that link along with the ticket.

And if you don't want to put it on Youtube, you can save it to a USB and then put that USB in the computer and transfer the file

This is another one of those threads thats like, ummmm are you new to the MMO world. there have always been kids, jerks, thieves , nice guys, and every type of person that plays this game. it in my opinion is ridiculous, if it is really really a horrible name that is easily spotted on a minute by minute day by day basis in populated areas and they are being #$#$ w#$# they will either just go away or be banned eventually. i think if you start taking away the creativeness to create any name, that takes away from the experience.
i agree very dumb names that any serious person playing the game would not use if they planned on having the character for years, would not use, yet if it is that bad, they stay around making a big fuss in chat and spatial chat, they will be dealt with, but we can't snow flake out on every single name even if it could be offensive to some, because something is offensive to EVERYONE if you wanna be like that.
just a bi product of the freedom in mmos and i don't believe it should change, and i have to say this "EVEN HAVING TO READ AND REPLY TO THIS IS PROVING MY POST" but i don't in anyway conquer the names referenced in your post or any names that would be racist to anyone at all. i am speakin in big picture terms like we should be thinking, and going over stuff case by case, ergo letting the developers and CSR in game support do there jobs, we dont need to come on here and do there jobs for them, not in public at least.

Nobody's talking about taking away the ability to be creative, okay?

You can be creative without being deliberately pejorative and openly offensive on a level designed to provoke a reaction based on the fact that it picks specifically at a person's racial or cultural heritage. Hell, if that's what you're defending then I'm pretty sure the safe bet is "you're not actually all that creative to begin with", but we're not here to debate that.

The kind of things you laugh at (or complain about) say more about you as a person than you realize; making a crude, vulgar joke can be fun sometimes (I ran a character called DUTCH OVEN briefly, until it occurred to me that there really are no solid fart based attacks in the game - pun intended) but when that vulgarity comes from a place that singles someone out based on things they have no control over then you're not making a joke, you're bullying someone, and if someone wants to call you out for it? They can.

In this system we use the tools that we have to do so, as opposed to just walking up to whoever and making it really uncomfortable the old fashioned way. One of those tools is reporting, one of those tools is asking your peers - "Is there anything I can do?"

Teen's not blacklisting anyone, he's asking for how to file a report so that in-game mods and support actually CAN do the thing you're suggesting they do.

But like I said, the things you complain about say more about you as a person than you realize.

It's pretty much impossible to catch everything. You try to catch the big ones like ****, *****, ****** and ****************-***-*******'*** but it all boils down to things like thinking "no one will ever name their character that", the person or team doing filtering never thought of that or the last time there was a major pass made over filtering the term wasn't considered offensive (or at least offensive enough to enough of the player base to warrant inclusion). After that it just becomes whack-a-mole.

When you come across something like that the proper method for handling it is what Proxystar listed above. I know it's a bit cumbersome (any method that takes you out of the game is one that needs serious revision) but it's all we have.

Yeah there's also the matter of individual terms that on their own are fine and common and even part of identity for some people so you can't really ban them, but can be put together in screwed up ways. I've seen people with names referencing things like their ethnicities or being disabled and they very much should get that. Unfortunately, someone could put another word with one of these to make a very mean and bigoted name. The latter should be dealt with as it happens, but it's not really fair to not let people include these parts of identities in their names and basically erase them over the occasional jerk. I mean, I have autism and would be bothered by a name making fun of it, but I would be MORE bothered by a massive game and company, especially one all about expression and a form of identity, just saying "you can't acknowledge this piece of yourself or others, you don't get to take pride in who you are and share that pride."

We have chat logs from the game, so all you need to do is open a ticket with us at http://help.daybreakgames.com to report foul chat. The name is even easier to catch/action/report, just let us know what it is.

The filter is manually updated over time, and it certainly is missing things. When they get reported, they get added to the filter periodically.

    THANK YOU!!

I am sick of the people using the rhetoric that reporting racist/sexist/homophobic names and comments is limiting freedom/creative. No, you can be fully creative and funny without playing into bigoted beliefs. It's not a matter of being a "snowflake" or not, if someone has anti-semitic terminology in their names, we as players have the right to report it. The report option is available to us for a reason.

I always see non-racists telling anti-racists to pipe down. I suspect that some day America’s reputation will be hijacked by racists and that’s how America will be known to the rest of the world. Is that better than snow-flaking out?

I will say that around Halloween they were tryna say that ghost Halloween costumes were racist, when i was younger my mom certainly dressed my black @zz up as a ghost a few times bc we didnt have money for a costume. I guess that made me racist? Lol You sjws are without a doubt stripping away freedom of speech and expression in the real world, that non arguable.

    Now as for in dcuo,
I know what style the op is talking about, im just confused as to what the devs thought people were gonna do with that style when they put it in game. Same with the **** gas mask..

Im 100% against anti cheat regulations, name profanity filters and anything else that can be used to restrict people expressions, or get them banned for being in a mission with someone who is hacking but themselves not be hacking.

I think that if they add new profanity filters alot of us will find that our names might be questionable, especially some leagues. I was in a league called hittas once, which is a slang for hitmen. Id imagine that name wouldnt make the cut.

It’s not about doing their jobs for them. It’s about helping them do their jobs. That’s why they created a forum for us. And that’s what the thread is trying to do.

“sjws” are not obligated to make anyone’s freedom of expression comfortable. That obligation belongs to your government.
