If Healers, Tanks, and Controller's could put out the same damage what would the game look like?

I'm curious, if we support roles could perform our functions and put out the same amount of damage,... how would the game be?

I am not asking based off skilled in the role, but if one has to insist, then,...

What if the players who knew how to play as the support role could match a skilled DPS in damage?

dps would be pointless. the stats revamp was suppose to close the gap between support and dps. i for one hope it does

The gap is still farely large, but it's mainly because they nerf the damage of abilities with support capabilities while in support role, for example powers that CC in troll role do less damage in troll then in DPS because the powers have no CC effects in dps. Stuff like that widens the gap. It's hit healing hard as well, celestial used to be an amazing battle healer, but now the damage many combos do in healer role aren't enough to rely on battle healing with.

If they wanna close the gap more, they need to cut out that particular trade-off rule.

I wouldn't say pointless, most wouldn't know how to use the role anyway.

That's like saying the DPS role as a generic type role.

Better yet it's like saying this DPS is the simple starter role.

it should never happen, if a DPS was truly skilled no support should match their damage.
  7. xoHLxDPSox Steadfast Player

it would be pointless as would this entire revamp the devs are doing. Granted I think the revamp is pointless is some aspect or another anyways.

b/c if I can deal as much damage as a tank why the hell would I DPS when I have more survivability in my off role? I wouldnt, nor would anyone else. You'd see 'Need atomic tanks for x' in LFG

I believe this requires an answer which is similar to how I'd respond to your next statement.

Granted, the survivalabilty would be crazy as a tank, healer or troll.

But I'd have to say the match NPC's would have to be buffed to match.

While you or I maybe top notch players, the masses could burn Capt. Kruel. and would probably wipe.

Again the best could match or possibly beat the best, in this scenario.

Not saying the support roles received a buff greater than DPS damage but equal.

Besides being experienced as an Tank goes a whole lot further than just switching to tank with DPS powers.

If it were not then, any newb could simple change to Tank and be the best tank as of now with basic DPS loadouts. LoL

Sorry I just cant see support being equal man, and Im a earth tank player.

I still think DPS > support for damage by a large margin. Now the gap between damage should be smaller sure but not on par with each other. Maybe if its a scrub DPS or half baked DPS and a good support then yes the support should be able to keep up or surpass the DPS possibly. Other then that no.

I mean experience is key for any of the 4 roles really. If you arent experience and good with your power then you have the potential to get passed up by support players battle supporting.
  10. lordexecution365 Loyal Player

Exactly, see if you put 2 scrub players against each other given the same damage, by default the better of the two would surpass the other.

    As you said above.

I get it as well, seeing support players doing damage only, is not something that a lot of players want to hear or deal with.

Making the damage equal, even scarier for people, it is different for DCuo.

Maybe the question should be what if the DPS role was the catch all and the standard role were the others actually were the more skill based roles as they are now.

Pretty much like how they say the risk/reward thingy.
