My account was suspended for 4 days do to the fact that i threatned to report someone since they used a racial slur against me. I dont understand how that is breaking the rules all i wanted was an appology and i get treated like im a criminal. I have been playing for more than 2 years and i get treated like this. This is the dumbest rules violation i have heard of in my life.
From in-game, i'm assuming. Was the arguement as one-sides as you're making it out to be, or were you actually both guilty of ripping into each other, even if the other guy started it first? Keep this in mind: last year SOE released info regarding their policy on bans, stating that they are more than ready to ban players from any SOE games if they were made aware of a player's poor online behavior (and not just within an SOE game). If you do have to report somebody in-game that is being abusive, do not respond to the person's taunts and report them, ignore them, and move along if you can (or leave the instance if you have to, or votekick the person if they are being negative to the group). SOE can log history for, at the very least, all text based exchanges. I'm not aware if they have the capability to data mine and record any verbal/voice chat abuse, but don't take any chances. Also, if you feel you were negatively impacted by a decision to remove an actual offender and don't feel you contributed to any ill behavior yourself, then contact SOE support and submit a ticket. These are the guys that handle account privileges, not the folks handling content on the forums. If you're trying to report the issue on the forums, you're effectively reporting to the middle man, if even that.

ya they need to clarify what can get you banned. i got banned for 7 weeks for asking a fellow player if i could take his mother to the The Amazing spiderman 2 premier. so whats bannable about that?? is it because its a marvel movie???

I've had a racial slur thrown at me once in this game. Just put them on Ignore and move on, it's best not to argue or threaten.
It's hard to believe that this used to be the normal reaction online. Now you got kids wanting blood whenever someone dares to insult them.
Clearly you didnt read what i said. I was called a racist remark and was banned for threatening to report the dude for using a racial slur on ME and i got banned for threatening to report someone.
There are two sides to every story. I'm sure you didn't get banned for threatening to report someone. I'm sure there were actions greater then that which took place. I see people threaten to report other people on a daily basis with no bans being brought down on them.
Why even listen? Somebody calls you a racist remark, vote to kick, ask to be dismissed or leave and take the deserter penalty. Then put them on your ignore list. Doesn't really have to be more complicated than that. You can't stop/change somebody else's attitude.
Usually, arguments that result in such slurs will probably stem from at least two participants. Im not saying that you specifically did anything, but you also need to keep in mind that the player in question could have reported you for something. Someone else could have witnessed the two of you and reported just you, just him, or both of you. The other player could have gotten a ban too. Could be a longer one, a shorter one, or exactly the same. ---------------------------------- There are a number of things that play into the debate here if you were to try and contest this - most of it you will not ever find out and will only be known by SOE. Essentially, all you can do is voice your case and live with the result. Believe it or not, ANY player-to-player communication made is a risk - because one person can take offense to something others do not - and SOE as the moderating faction must take into account any and all points of view. Its very commonplace many things seemingly unoffensive actually offend people - the poster above mentioning a line asking a player to take his mother to somewhere is a perfect example. A random player seeing that may see that as you making a mom joke. Careful with your words, and understand there are risks that many players often take for granted. SOE found your actions potentially offensive to the point it warranted a ban. Other than your usual appeal process, you'll have to simply deal with the 4 day ban. Careful next time. You will not see anyone respond here in the forums that will be able to assist you other than suggest using the appeal process.
They eventually unbanned me i "Technically" broke the rules by threatening to report someone but they let me off the hook.
