Bad-Luck loot table/calculator???

I have seen several comments on the forums referring to some sort of "bad-luck loot table/calculator".

Can someone direct me to a DEV's post regarding this topic?

My understanding was that loot was random, but weighted by common (green), uncommon (blue), rare (purple), ultra-rare (gold).

Again I'm looking for something written by a DEV, not players theories on how the loot system works.

    Thanks!

I'm not a dev but I did see a dev post once, do I count?

The loot is random and chaotic, it's governed by the other son of trigon Gamblor and His wife Pandora

If you get a drop that's awesome just know that someone else got a double drop for something completely useless

Someone told me that when you log out, your luck reset. So if you want something good like elite, even gold items, you have to defeat bosses a lot. If you log out, all your luck is gone and you have to restart.. I wish it could keep going, maybe dimish a little the luck but not completely reset it..

Or you get someone pure of luck. But the more bosses you defeat in your relevant contents, the more chances.

It works as described on the last part of your post. The more bosses you beat, without a purple drop, the better your chances at getting one.

Your "luck" does not reset when logging out. I'm sure I would have read that somewhere by now if it did.

Well if it doesn't reset, my luck is very very bad as I never got any gold items since I started the game 2 years ago.

I see some players having 4 gold gears as 160cr. I'm not asking to get all of them but at least one would be really great.

Most people have none. There's the few who just happened to get lucky, and the rest bought theirs with Replays. I wouldn't think much about it. You're not "supposed" to get any ;)

Ultra-rare (gold) items are not mentioned in the DEV's post. Thus I don't believe it is considered in the "bad-luck" calculator. It appears to be designed to increase the rate of rare (purple) drops, & resets as soon as a purple gear hits your list.

So you need real "luck" if you want gold.

I dare say, a large portion of the DCUO population will likely never see a single piece of gold gear. 5 years in for me with my first and only piece coming on an alt a few weeks ago (hands form DPE).

This us a good point, considering the thread subject. Gold items are NOT a part of the "loot luck counter" thingy.

The Devs really shouldn't have told us about this system.

The system isn't implemented very well, anyway. There really was no reason to tell us, considering it's not instance by instance but instead any instance with the counter implemented. If the counter was tied to each specific instance, it would be helpful. As it currently stands, it's really just an incentive to spend replay badges, which looks really bad on the surface.

On top of that, even with the system in place, probability theory only shows a 1-2% increase in the chance of a drop with each run, with the window I gave depending on where they actually start increasing the probability of a drop. Gaming the system seems silly with such a small increase.

Now, you might say, "But they said our chances increase a lot on the next boss." However, just because the probability of a drop increases on the next run by a lot, that doesn't mean the overall probability of getting a drop based on number of runs follows. I've crunched the numbers, and it's really not that helpful to game the system. There are some who believe the probability of getting a drop is guaranteed around the 10th drop. I think it's actually more than that, which means the following number crunch is actually too generous, but let's say it is guaranteed by the 10th drop:

    • 7th boss without a drop (8th boss overall): 95.6% of a rare drop without the luck system
7th boss without a drop (8th boss overall): 96.7% of a rare drop with the luck system
    • 8th boss without a drop (9th boss overall): 97.2% of a rare drop without the luck system
8th boss without a drop (9th boss overall): 98.9% of a rare drop with the luck system
    • 9th boss without a drop (10th boss overall): 98.2% of a rare drop without the luck system
9th boss without a drop (10th boss overall): 99.8% of a rare drop with the luck system
    • 10th boss without a drop (11th boss overall): 98.8% of a rare drop without the luck system
10th boss without a drop (11th boss overall): 100% of a rare drop with the luck system

I'm going on three years and I have seen gold items on Alts...but never my main until now. I have two..completely random that is all I have to state.

From my experience it goes beyond 10. I think the maximum number of bosses is 20.

Let me explain. I believe we have a loot table with say 20 possible selections. As we do not get rare gear, the lowest value items is removed from the loot table. Eventually you are more likely to get rare loot the longer you go without rare loot. However, if there are 20 pieces and you go 19 boss the very next boss should automatically give you that rare gear.

I state 20 as we have this...

    14 common pieces of gear
    4-5 uncommon pieces of gear
    4 rare gear

You start off with 14 common, 4 uncommon and 2 rare...Next boss if you do not get a rare piece it goes 13 common, 4 uncommon and 3 rare, etc...This continues until it is all rare and you get your rare piece.

This to makes the most sense and would be why I have never gone more than 20 bosses without a rare piece of gear.

Or because 20 bosses puts you at a 99.99% chance of getting a rare piece. 1-(1-0.36)^20 = 99.9867%

I was trying to make sense from gear drop point of view as in what is possible for gear. This players can look at what I provided and say, ok that makes sense.

We start off every run with 18/19 off of not getting rare gear. Each boss that drops by 1 meaning a 5% increase in getting rare gear.

Initially we have 5-10% to get a rare piece. Month 1 it starts off with 10%. Month 2 and 3 it is at 5% due to the single extra piece of uncommon gear we have (face piece in month 2) and Rings in month 3.

I believe the luck limiter only applies to items that have Rare status, versus items that have Common (green), Epic (blue), or Legendary (gold) status.

There's also the fact that the drop you get may not be the one you want I think some base items and the like count towards this and I know its possible to get the for example boots when you have that on both roles but want ANY other piece of gear.

Tertiary loot, e.g. base items, do not count toward the luck counter.
  20. Gimpy Loyal Player

You would think it would be a single tier Loot system because one can't get gear from the tier above it but getting the gear in ANY of the TIERS below the HIGHEST TIER resets you.

Now let's see that , what was it Calculus or Trigonometry, that you used to explain that to me about odds earlier

Because I haven't had a grasp on why it hasn't worked for me at all.

Might explain why gambling was NOT PROFITABLE when I was younger. Only way you will get me into a Casino is to PAY me to LOSE YOUR MONEY.
