Does the avatar of will count as a pet and if so is it safe to assume it would benefit from soul stone and other pet buffs?
I can also confirm it's not a pet. Both effects activate on your character as a visual, and they come from your character when you attack. You don't summon anything that attacks on its own with this artifact like you do with Quislet, for instance.
This is just a "visual effect indicator" that the artifact property is active. The trigger for activating the property is the use of any skill that spends power during combat (the property is not activated outside of combat). The trigger for the damage itself is any damage inflicted by the character (including damage from skills, dots, weapon damage, and even damage from pets). The damage scales from the might and can cause critical damage. And since this is not a pet, artifacts that affect pets do not affect it in any way.
(facepalms really really hard) I've been seeing that green fish (sometimes yellow, on my Mental toon) swimming around my toon, and I've been wondering where it came from. I totally forgot about the Avatar of Fear/Avatar of Will effects from the new artifact.
