Arms forward in flight

Well that's discouraging. How is it that the easy suggestions are so difficult to accomplish. I imagine that switching the RAG animation for the animation I've suggested might take maybe 4 hours to accomplish....with a lunch break. The same goes for the flight animation changes. I will admit that the other acrobat tweaks might be challenging, particularly the swinging animation but when it comes down to it this isn't about how difficult the changes are to implement but more their willingness to make the changes. Maybe I made a mistake in naming the thread Arms Forward in flight. Perhaps that small detail has discouraged the Developers even reading the thread for fear of the enormity of the request.

Awesome did you catch what he/she said at 1:40 , "ppl choose this as their SECOND travel power for indoors".

That would be a great feature flight for farming ! SS for alerts and raids..

For the past three years the developers have been showing a lack of imagination when it comes to DCUO. That's why most of their ideas come from already established story-lines, and other sources (like their players). I won't deny that they have at least listened to some cool ideas like armories, but still need to fix stupid ideas they listened to like the nerfing of Dash Attack, when they could have easily come up with an idea to counter its abused use in PvP. I've loved this game since I heard about it and can't help, and feel betrayed every time they make another decision that affects us adversely. We'll see what the future brings, and whether I'll be around to see it if they take too long.

If you check page 3 reply #57 I have that idea too. Again the animation is already in-game. When just hovering your arms are at your sides.

Maybe when they add the hover board movement they'll take the time to put these changes in as well. I can only hope. Personally I don't think we need another movement mode just add more features to those we already have

Not to be rude, and i am not against your idea, but what make you think they have any kind of obligation to implement yours, or anybody else ideas, no matter how simple or not they are to implement ? Game development is not a democracy. No matter how good of a idea someone post on the forums, is their game to make. If they cant, or dont want to do it, is not going in, no mattter how many likes it have.

I dont mean you should stop posting any kind of ideas. Just undestand that the forums are not any kind of suggestion box.

First, who is "us" ? Second, do you undestand how game developing works ? Do realy thing they go in the forums and say "Lets take a look, and see what the players are saying. Oh look ! 0,0001% of our player base think dash attack is op, so lets nerf that !"
  12. Original Empress Well-Known Player

That was my point exactly. They are not willing to make the changes. It's their game and they do with it what they will. I still enjoy DCUO and I'm not likely to cancel my membership despite my suggestions being ignored or simply not seen. I don't think they are obligated to do anything but they have. Armories spawned from an idea that was posted in the forums. Weapons Mastery came about because someone posted that they would like to use a sword and a shield. They did it the only way it would work since a mouse only has 2 buttons to control melee and range it would be impossible to combine the 2 at the same time but to make a combo out of it well they've been doing that with powers for a long time Hard Light is nothing without it's combos and the same goes for Celestial. I guess I keep posting and promoting this thread because I'm hoping that it will spawn something new for the movement modes. I try to make my suggestions attractive to provoke player input and Developer thought and easy so to negate the difficulty factor. In short to make the developers "want" to make the changes. Because in the end DCUO IS a customer driven business. If all of the members who pay to play the game got together behind something you better believe they would implement it. Loss of business is a great motivator.

I can offer prove that armories is based on a concept that existed even before the game went live. Just because something goes into the game is similar to a idea that was in the forums, that doesnt mean that something exist BECAUSE of that idea.

No offense, but i hope it never works that way. First, the % of the paying menbers that goes into the forums is very, very small. Second just because a lot of people agree to a idea, doesnt mean is a good one. Watch "Robocop II" for a example. And 3rd, i pay to see the devs vision to the game, not other players. The moment a bussiness gives control to this consumers, that bussiness is dead.

None of this have anything to do with your ideas of, course. just my opinion on how things works. After 3 years, if we dont have any option to customize movement modes, there must be a reason. But dont let that stop you. You have a fun, harmless, creative idea. Keep fighting.

Please explain the Robocop II comment.
(I don't understand where you're coming from here)

When they, with second intentions in mind, have a meeting with some resentatives of the public, asking for suggestions. "He shouldnt be so violent", "he should be a better example for the kids". All good ideas, but without the proper context. Can you imagine if the devs took every suggestion from the forrus ?

Again, not trying to say the op suggestion is bad, in any way. Just saying that the forums are not a suggestion box. The idea with the most "likes" doesnt get added to the game. I would love for something like this to get into the game, but the op shouldnt take it personaly if, for some reason, it doesnt.

Is that the one where he's such a wimp until he unloads his clip at the guy for smoking?
Yeah, that went a bit far...

The thing with this idea, is that it should be additional options.
Maybe even Market Place items that would make SOE more money to give the options.
And these are entirely cosmetic, changing nothing but the looks of the game
and leaving ruining the actual gameplay entirely to the devs, so they keep their current jobs.

Thats the one. I kind of want to watch that movie again. The thing is, there is prob a reason why we dont have this kind of cometic ideas. Just wish i knew what that reason is. And that, if we ever have more options, please let me buy then, instead of buying a chance to get it.

Yes You are right about the "chance to get" stuff. I found that particularly mean spirited and greedy. After many months of seeing green aura requests and discussions both in game chat and in forums the green aura finally became a reality. The ability to buy it would have been better than buying something else that I didn't really care about for a "chance" to get what I wanted. I was fortunate. When I finally broke down and decided to buy one of those whatsits in hopes of scoring a green aura i got it on the first try.
However, the original post was never about buying anything. It was simply a couple of suggestions regarding an animation that I thought looked better than the animation that is currently being used. Extra stuff like in reply #50 and #57 would be more the marketplace type of thing. I know that I would pay for the Parkour package or a an acrobat upgrade package that included all of the new moves. A good portion of the fun for me in this game is travelling around the cities gathering in acrobat mode. I run around trying to make acrobat do things that were never intended imagining where I'd execute a kong vault or how cool splendid wings would look while gliding. I jump onto lamp poles trying to catch it just right so it looks like my acrobat has used the pole in a move. $20 no question.

You I think that some of the more negative posters in this thread are right. I don't think the Devs don't do things from the forums because they are lazy. I think that they have an agenda already. They have several things planned and something like a movement mode revamp might not be part of that agenda regardless of how simple they would be to do. So, shamefully, I give up. There have been no other responses from players and certainly no response from the Devs pro or con. I've suggested other things as well. Styles and what have you but I'm now convinced that none of them will ever happen. Will that stop me from playing DCUO? Not likely. Despite these little things I still enjoy the game.

Anyone else say "afternoon delight" after reading the title?
Being able to customize our movement modes would be something I fully support. I'd love to get rid if the electric effects on super speed.
