I can see all of the benefits and "potential" of having a butler in my house too, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to "pay up" for one. After all, a butler is not "necessary" for dusting my table. That's just "my opinion" and I know that others share that too.

I for one will be buying the 15 package... So there will be at least one purchase... I'm sure I will not be the only one... Can't wait for the mass changes in metro... Smoke bombs everywhere!!!

I understand your frustration. The whole "forgetting" to include 3 pieces of armor in the loot table for 5 months was very bad business.

I clicked on your link and it said page not found. I prefer to avoid the social spectrum for the most part. Thanks for the offer though.

While there may be 63 pages of a lot of people saying here that they won't be buying, almost everyone I talk to on a group Facebook page says they WILL be buying. I know I'll be doing the 15-pack myself and I know several others doing the same. So for people to make claims that NOBODY will be buying is a crock and just wishful thinking on their part. Many of us were expecting prices between $5-$10, so the pricing is actually better when bought in quantity. I think this appeals especially to newer players who will want to invest in alts, along with other players who want the advantage of being able to switch loadouts on the fly. It won't appeal to many veteran players who just run the same loadouts and don't want to be creative.

I know I've also read people complaining about armories being character bound upon consuming and that if they delete the character they will lose the armory... well, the same goes for your deeds as well. Sure a deed is $3, but armories are MUCH more useful in daily game-play whereas, how many people actually visit their bases on a daily basis?!?

You couldn't be more wrong. The only reason I'd want an Armoury is to try new stuff as a veteran player. If I were a new player and saw this in any game I joined, I'd instantly be turned away. I know, I've seen gouged prices in the past on games like this, and since I had no attachment to it, I got a bad taste in my mouth and left it. I haven't gone back and played them since even after they reduced prices because it's bad for a consumer-producer relationship to do this kind of thing. I want no part of games like that, and it was in large part because of ridiculous prices on things like this.

Now that I can understand (point of view) far better than "dayam socialists!" hehehe :)

I see where you are coming from. For my own slant on it, I am comparing the armories to other items int he marketplace that are not free, by any stretch - and are out of the price range of many - however are at the very least redeemable by other characters on the account. There is a line between entitlement on the part of the consumer and greed on the part of the corporation.

I have spent a lot of money in this game on things (I'm a good consumer haha) and am always looking for fun ways to support this company with my wallet. (For instance, new styles for purchase in the marketplace would be great.) I don't think we should get these for free, by any means, especially with what they mean for changing ones gaming experience.

I simply think that if I buy one, I should be able to claim that one for all of my characters. If I want to have 4 bases with 4 armories each, I should have to buy 15 (since we get one free). All of my characters should be able to claim any that I buy though.

Not entitlement, just a reasonable expectation of cost outlay. I mean, look, if they were $10 each (just a figure folks don't throw eggs at me) and i had to buy 15 of them to be totally "tricked out", that's $150.

That's a LOT of money for a digital good that, let's face it, could disappear at any time if the game goes away.

It's a heck of a lot more reasonable than $150 PER CHARACTER though.

At any rate, thanks for expressing your point of view, appreciated. :)

No I agree, there are several people who will pay, and they'll make some money. Probably a lot of money. Doesnt make it any less of a slap in the face. But again, thats just me.

While I agree with almost everything you say. This part isn't true. I know many veterans who are completely pumped for this chance. Myself, being one of them. Otherwise, great post! ^.^

EDIT: Great, because you bring up some good points about the differing of opinions being expressed in the forums vs. opinion on social websites like Facebook.

    SOE surprised me a bit.

    $8 for a single character?

Seriously, I WANT to make them laugh, BUT they have to make ME laugh too. However, with this price... they only makes me :(

Lol. I think you took what I said way to seriously. look imagine this.

"You must put a lot of value in re-spec'ing ;)"

That's how I meant it lol. Just ony had 30 minutes to edit

I'm gonna buy to. But that's only because i can afford it. I also know that the price is unfair when looking at DCUO as a whole. That thing is expensive for a non-account bound item. period.

That's funny, because the day before yesterday I was so over all of this (for a day or so) that I spent my time in PS Home sky fishing in Aurora. As a nearly 40 year old ATARI gen myself, I feel ya.

I do think a lot of the people in this thread have more disposable income than you think. That's one of the things about the younger generation that has changed drastically since we were kids. They have an amazingly larger amount of disposable income. Whether they earn it or are handed it, they have it within their discretion to decide how to spend it. It's one reason the "youth market" is being targeted as spenders in pretty much every industry. Things just aren't like when we had our meager allowance if we lucky and worked our butts off for it growing up.

My concern in this is of course, self centered in that I want what I perceive to be value for my money. I work hard for it (albeit in my own hours on my own time in my own fashion with people I choose to work with - self employed and loving it.)

Believe it or not I am also concerned with the welfare of the game and SONY Online Entertainment too. I have been paying SOE to play since the late 90s and would love to keep doing so. I get that they need to make a profit to stay in business. Another poster said it exactly right a couple of days ago.

"The price needs to make me want to spend my money" (versus not do so obviously). I don't personally care how people come about their money - if I thought about it too much I'd get worked up and that's jsut not important enough to be riled up about.

(I already spend enough mental time yelling "GET OFF MY LAWN" if you know what I mean LOL).

At any rate, nice to meet you. And you aren't alone. There are other adults with actual incomes around too :)

But you are still going to buy it. And that is the point. The outrage is already dying down after only a day or two. It wont change and they wont address it because in the end, they'll get enough of their money to pull the same stunt, if not a worse one, with future "micro" transactions.

That's the issue. People buy it knowing it's unfair, they'll keep putting this stuff out with gouged prices. Why? Because people will buy it. They won't care who complains because at the end of the day, they get the money they ask for and people don't quit.

I'd rather see people argue for lowering the price only if they won't buy any as long as it remains this way, otherwise it's rather empty. Similarly, if someone's not going to buy any, arguing to keep the price the same is likewise hollow.

I don't like these prices. They're awful and unreasonable. As a result, I won't be spending anything on them. That's the only way they'll end up listening.

Here is your $5 worth for the epic shill post you just made , minus the bolded part , which fails all logic.

It is interesting how convenient this failed maintenance is - exactly the day after people outraged at the atrocious pricing of the armories . Ain't it funny that the momentum this topic had slowly began to dissipate , and exact at the same time they gave people a "rage redirection target" - namely the failed patch . Coincidentally ( or not ) in the last 6 or so pages in this topic , many defenders of the current armory price suddenly started to pop left and right . Yesterday , at roughly the same time , more than 90% of the people that had posted in the topic disliked the current price of the armories , but if one is to come now and sift through the last couple of pages only , one might think that now it is 50:50 .

After all , what is one more FAIL-tenance ,as opposed to having to back out on their decided price about the armories ?

I think they wont adjust the armory prices at all , cos they simply need money ASAP , and they are betting on having enough zealous fans who will cough up for armories even at this price . For me , the armory pricing shows NO LONG TERM vision and plans about the game - they just want to cash in now , and never care for what happens next . Just for the record - this price bomb comes after creating hype for the feature for months on end , and after mesmerizing the populace with reassuring things about the game's future such as Trilogy DLCs and whatnot .

I hope I am wrong and they do adjust the pricing , but my experience so far tells me this wont be the case .
