Appropriate response to a undergeared in the raid

Why would the rest of the raid have to work "that much" harder? If anything the undergeared person will be the one working harder to be on par with the others. I know that when I see I have the least amount of max gear in a raid it drives me to work much harder to leave a good impression.

Define under performing. If you're looking at the scoreboard and basing it off that, then that is not an accurate way to judge.

Speaking from personal experience, I'd say yes.

I have yet to encounter an instance or piece of content that I can't finish at the base/minimum CR level. I've even finished content in South Gotham when my CR isn't high enough to qualify for loot drops. And this is usually while underplaying my characters (skill point totals are usually lower than expected when compared to my CR) and going it alone most of the time.

Is it always easy? No. Do I die sometimes? Yes, especially if I make a foolish mistake or don't pay attention to my surroundings. But it can be done. And if I can do it while underplaying my characters and going it alone, I don't see any reason why (minus a few exceptions like some OC content) it can't be done in a group situation.

Under-performing is when troller POT is 140 in necro and can't WM their recharge, a dps that is literally @ 1/3 the damage output, dying left and right, and cannot find time to revive others, healers that doesn't have the restoration to back up the other healer, and tanks that keep rage-crashing, giving immunities to bosses, excessive power consumption without the need.

I won't type a whole scenerio, but any of the under performing cases mentioned above puts a strain on the raid or even an instance. Some trolls specialize in dom to stun, and eases the tank's job. Thus, their low power output means nothing, and this isn't an "under performing" troller.

Am I clear now? Unfortunately, many under geared people tend to be this under performing group from my experience.

Let me see if I follow you? In your first post you state that you only have a couple hours a day to play and it bothers you that people YOU consider under geared have that audacity to que up and join a T6 raid that requires CR 106 and the gear they are wearing, along with mods, gets their CR to 106.

NOW.. you are saying that same group of players should spend hours, days or even weeks slowly earning enough marks to purchase all CR 90, 92 and then 94 gear before showing up in CR106 content? So they are supposed to spend a ton of time buying gear that they can skip so YOU don't waste YOUR time? Let me be very clear that once the CR 90 gear became available I never bought another bit of CR 86 gear in in the wastelands again. Both cost the exact same amount of marks so why on earth would I waste all that time, energy and effort to buy gear 1 CR higher than what I am already wearing when I can buy gear that was 5 CR higher? Right now I have 2 characters at CR 106 and I am using replays to grab gear doing the Doc Lighting Bounty and grabbing CR 96 gear so I can get my CR up and be able to handle the new content. I never bought a single bit of CR 92 gear.. I have complete sets of CR 90 with VI mods in everything that easily got me to 106.

Using your logic should I also waste time doing T5 or below content to earn Marks of triumph to buy Synthetic V and V expert mods before I go to Mogo and but VI ones? Keeping in mind that the Synthetic 5 expert mods now cost over 15,000 MOT which translated to 10 Marks of Fury and AMAZINGLY those same mods used to only cost FIVE MOF which is what the 6 mods available in MOGO run now. MY TIME is important to me too and I have no desire to waste weeks running content again and again and again to buy gear that's inferior to stuff I can buy that's better because "It will make me a better player" I have been here for over 2 years now and have 9 characters above CR 100 including Tanks, Trolls, healers and DPS. I may not be an expert but I THINK I know how to PLAY the game.

Good point, but I don't know of many players that strive for such feats like you have. Hell, I even see bunch of T6's running around in packs to do the dailies in WotL II when it's "supposed" to be solo-able. Maybe it's more fun? It's definitely easier, right? But yes, it can be done with the right people. I think the key there is RIGHT people, not just random pugs.

    Sure buddy

You mean to tell me you have never been in a last boss fight, you kick one guy and a new one comes in and ta-da, your finished....-_-
  7. Little MD Well-Known Player

so you're only playing the game to reach the end-content faster? You don't care for playing T2/T3/T4/T5 content, and just want to skip to T6 as fast as you can? That sounds great! I'm sure your time is important too, just as mine is to me. So, what is your suggestion to my dilemma? Can I infer that since you have done all you can to save YOUR TIME, I have the freedom to do what I choose to save MY TIME, like kicking the undergeared player?

Because they'll be able to :) But they're not representative of the majority.
  11. rival exe New Player

But unless we come up with enough examples that cover over half the player base, they would not represent majority either...

    I don't kick. I leave.
  12. rival exe New Player

Not sure if joking or genuinely implying that you shouldn't do content at entry level if you're not with your league.
  13. DCUController New Player

no you asked how were ppl suppose to get "at level" if ppl got kicked for being "under geared"

    my reply was leagues

either join a league or make your own groups. Can't really complain if you choose not to use the tools that are available to you right?

This is becoming much more of a complicated issue than it needs to be.

If they're an active strain on the group (dying all the time, causing wipes, etc) then kick them. If not, leave them alone. It's that simple. Even if their damage is trailing a good deal, as long as you're not actively effected and suffering, so what? Let them play the game they've payed for. Wipes are the real time wasters.

As a note, IMHO, pugging is very rarely quick and breezy experience unless you're undergeared (or it's lockdown :p), it's to be used when you can't form a group of your own. If you have very limited time, then plan ahead and try to be on with leaguemates. Play weekends. I dunno. Bu whatever you chose to do, you simply cannot expect a straightforward run from a PUG. Not saying it doesn't happen, but it CERTAINLY is not the standard.

I pug everything, and it is actually pretty rare that the problem has been undergeared players (although it has happened). My problem is usually fully geared players that won't listen.

But I can't honestly say I don't understand your perspective either.

Seems to me that the developers set the players up for failure in this situation. That's a game design issue. If I can get into an instance by they required CR then I should be able to finish it without being "carried".

Feel free to kick....but don't be surprised when they remember you and return the favour.

i spent 67 minutes in Security Breach the other night because people don't know to use the terminals to encrypt the data, and one of the DPS was under performing.

We could've instigated a kick....but nobody did, and we finished in the end. I'll take an uner performer with a good attitude over an "beast" with a **** attitude anyday.

In the end though, your time is only precious to you.

I'm agreeing with everything you've said in this thread but I take exception with this statement. Although troller stuns "can" ease the tanks job (last boss AB, 1st bosses adds in ARTI), the exact opposite is more often the case. Lol

Also, the awesome trollers I'm lucky to run with can stun adds just fine without sacrificing a bit of vit.

    Carry on :)
