In the coming weeks, we are going to add a new show format to Friday Night Legends in the form of Let's Plays, with the devs! We'll invite a league onto the show and drop a developer into their group to actually play content with the league. Throughout the show, we'll visit new content, revisit old content, and take questions from everyone watching on Twitch for that league or developer. We consider this a more laid back and casual approach to PvE on FNL, for those who are not up for the high-octane intensity of the PvE Challenge. If that sounds interesting to you, please sign up for FNL (or update your application) by starting a conversation here on the forums with myself (Mepps). Have other ideas for what you would like to see on episodes of Friday Night Legends? Let us know!
Or y'all could Do a let's play with more than one Dev and just little ole me. I am sure other players would enjoy a lets play with Foxy Love FNL!
Mepps, these lets plays sound like a really cool idea! It will definitely encourage more casual leagues to join since there is no fear of criticism if they fail at the challenge. Foxy here may be joking (or maybe not), but this post makes me think that you can do something like this in an even more casual way. If there was a day with no registrations, you could have some random fun by just starting the show getting on the server of your choice and just go on LFG, play with whoever joins up and answer questions twitter and twitch questions in the meantime. Spytle occasionally likes to do something like this and even streams it, I think it's super cool and it would be very cool to have other devs do it as well. Another idea, that could combine with the above and/or with the announced version of "Lets play" is that you guys could choose to focus on specific pieces of content and have the dev in turn tell us stuff about it. You could have sort of a "Behind the scenes" for how it was developed. For example I would love it if one day SJ "NerdofPrey" came on and told us how the story for her favorite piece of content came about. How does the "story-crafting" work in dcuo while she's playing. Or have your art director (Richie, right??) shows us some concept art and then hop into the game and play the final version of his ideas. I would love to see him run WotL stuff In fact you could make a monthly or bi-monthly cast dedicated to the stories and the art of dcuo or even music and voice work. It would be totally awesome if every so often you had a voice actor hop on Skype (or visit the office if they're in Austin) and answer Mepps-selected fan questions or if they want to play, even better! Man I'm nearly salivating at the idea of having James Marsters or Susan Eisenberg on. You could also do nostalgia raids/alerts/duos, they seem to be very popular. Oh and another idea would be to also take the pressure off of pvp and have more stuff like Spytle's pre-shows where perhaps more devs could join and fight with and against each other along with any and all players who joined. Just pvp for fun would be a nice change of pace from the FNL tour. It could work a bit like how Spord and Luperza did at Pax, where every match new people partnered up with Spord so as to give more people a chance to be on tv. It could be random or there could be sign-ups. If you're going to do 4v4s you could have groups of 3 people sign up before the show and whichever dev is playing would just get invited to ready-made groups every match over and over. btw Maggie is awesome! I'm sure people wouldn't mind seeing her more often on dcuo casts Perhaps she and other devs/team members who don't play that much since their work is related to other aspects, Buzzwerd comes to mind or some voice actors if they're interested, could participate in "Discover DCUO " in which volunteer leagues or groups of players walk them through the ins and outs of dcuo as well as their own favorite aspects/instances of the game. This could even work with players from other SOE games who want to give our game a chance and "Discover DCUO" TL: DR 1. Random "lets play" with whoever joins when you log on 2. Periodic shows dedicated to specific aspects of the game like story-telling, art, music, engineering, voice work etc. with devs in turn hopefully playing as well. 3. Nostalgia content 4. PVP with devs just for fun 5. Discover Dcuo 6. Celebrity guests
I like this! Hope that I'll be able to; my coming extended vacation and work would make Oct 17 the next Friday I could do it. D:
You're joking, but this does allow us to not require you to have a full raid group. We're looking to do smaller group content, too.
Actually a possibly good idea at some point if you want to do a PvE challenge is have people play content with less than the required number of people. Oh, did I mention the other person in my league doesn't log in anymore?
