    Its not so much a joke as it is ironic I think. Especially since the last sentence in the forward to Death in the Family is "It would be a pretty crummy thing to bring Jason Todd back to life."

    Ambush Bug.

    And if I were to write the story - he meets a female Ambush bug and after dating for a while, he pops the question and she accepts. All the superheroes and villains attend the wedding so we get to see one of those big spread cheesy comic shots trying to squeeze them all in. They run off to honeymoon in a trash bin; and then she eats him to provide the much needed nutrients for her brooding larva. Then all the heroes and villains can attend the funeral for another big cheesy shot.
