Prec meta is Super Speed. There's not many better moves than Tornado Pull, Dervish, Vortex, Phase Dodge and the 25% supers. What are some Acrobatics equivalents to these Super Speed moves? Want to switch movements for my tank, but if my DPS will lack I'll just stay SS.
Those moves are irreplaceable. Some tank powers have pretty good might based DPS you could try, or see if there's any powers in Iconics or your power that can be used to clip.
Perfect Poise is an excellent supercharge shield that's also a pick-up/break out. Devastating Flip is a mid-range 2500 damage supercharge, not as strong as Speed Drain. Grapple Line and Zip Tie are two good single target moves, but they only do about 80% of the damage of Tornado Pull. Throwing Knives is a strong AOE move (same damage as Wildfire or Distortion Wave) but it's nowhere near the damage of Whirling Dervish. Flight has even fewer options. Whirlwind does 10% less damage than Vortex Trap and 50% less damage than Dervish. Really the only thing flight is good for is flying around to get collections, briefings, and investigations. It's not an accident that so many end-gamers are SS. It's a no-brainer.
Downdraft slaps. Good first attack, quick animation, clips well, pulls you to the floor, aoe attack that hits long range.
Some powersets have powers that can substitute for the superspeed powers everybody C&P’s. If your chosen powerset is such, you can be whatever movement you want. IMO, if you’re one of those powers, the only real advantage superspeed has is that you can flurry shot both in and out of movement mode. With acro and flight, it’s technically possible but really clunky to properly flurry shot while in movement mode. And of course, if you’re a first column scoreboarder, you don’t have any real equivalent to the “in-combat” speed burst thingy.
There's a handful of single target abilities that can match or come close tornado pull, but they all have long cool downs, and typically do damage over time instead of a burst. Nothing really matches Dervish.
Tornado pull also has a horrendously long and clunky animation, so it’s a damage loss if you’re using the power without clipping, unlike the other abilities that can match, or perform similiar to tornado pull. Dervish is a melee only ability, yes, it’s strong, but it’s viability is limited. You can barely melee adds in elite content without going down consistently
I know with PI applied taser pull hits slightly harder than tornado pull and slightly less without PI. I don’t know powers really well other than gadgets and atomic but do my best to learn from others who do (or seem to anyway) and I could have sworn there were a few out there that are close including cooldown. Could totally be wrong though. There are powers that can clip similar to dervish but they don’t do that kind of damage. Though dervish is melee range so it’s pretty tough to get consistent damage from it in an elite boss fight anyway.
Totally forgot that being in movement mode as Acro almost instantly grounds you after jump cancelling a flurry. Makes it super easy compared to SS being in movement mode and jumping.
