To me and from what I have seen in my DCUO tenure is that the most unlikely fix of all is within the community. The "powering" through of content by typically high CR players is absurd and gets more of the team killed than helped through a "Team atmosphere". I have been dying in raids I have never died in and why? Because a high CR player is speeding through, avoiding adds and leaving a chaotic nightmare of them swarming on all behind. Of course some will say, "Well keep up" and to you I say, "I pay for this game too and unlike you I am not in a hurry, I do not have a bedtime or school tomorrow, and I am not your bruh whatever tf that is." Point and solution for me is simple, reverse CR requirement. In other words, in example, once you achieve CR 117 you can no longer go into previous content. This is much like the current loot system which restricts player to just loot with no marks after exceeding the 116 max. This would also force players to focus more on feats, modding, and character mechanics like blocking as many raid content once demanded like Love and War and Happiness Home. The power through of these monster 170+ dps (even un-modded and slack SP) to me quickly gains the appearance of complete noobs in OP suits, period. If you look at the big picture of the game this is a good idea. It force's actual game play, team efforts for not only success, but, feats, and eventually eliminates high CR suited noobs infiltrating higher level content with their chaos.
Players would miss out on feats and styles. Players wouldn't be able to help other players. If a player's subscription lapsed, they'd possibly have no content to play. This is a terrible idea.
Simply no, que times would increase. A better solution would be clamping stats or CR for gear only. This way, players who spent time farming for SP and mods still get those benefits.
So, what you are saying is that even though I pay for the game just like you do...That I should be restricted from ever going back into certain instances simply because my CR exceeds some silly imaginary line.
Sorry I enjoy my vengeance runs. This is a terrible idea. Now to be fair...I understand your point better than most. My account was stolen last year, after 5 years of leveling and skill point farming. I had to start over, and a large majority of these feats are near impossible due to the severe OP having crushed the instance while I was on way through...players who, quite simply; did not exist back then. There was nobody higher than we were (vets), give or take 1 or 2 CR when these instances dropped. CR diff did not exist, nor did WM/AM. Jump canceling was awesome, mental was so trash that I didn't dare admit my power in LFG. So how to solve this problem? Either quarantine the queue like they did with the seasonal so CR is a factor in the matchmaking, enable walk in portals to everything, or enable a feature that allows to queue with any number in a group up to maximum allowable. I know that all of these will result in abysmal queue times, your own idea included. Truth is, there isn't a remedy for this that won't make queue times horrible. But...to lock people out of lower content is about the worst thing imaginable, due to the fact that the majority of players aren't legendary. They are premium. They buy dlc/episodes. If your idea were to be implemented, those players would not be able to play content they purchased. The devs are looking into this. But being a more or less sensitive issue with any change to the queue system, something of that magnitude is going to take time. I'm quite sure They want to cover their bases and explore all possible avenues before committing to that change in the game. Just bear with it...grind What feats you can and help lower levels in the only way we can: knowledge. Teach them. The ones that reject your helping hand are the ones who will enjoy the kick/ignore chain later on.
I said it forces things like concentrating on feats etc... See that's the naysayers problem with it because they gear up high and go back for the feats which is lame. I got ALL feats with a 75-85 team in Prime and other raids on many characters. Did all feats with CC and even beyond in that 62 level item gear. These players just blast hammer power through ignoring virtually all mechanics of the content its ridiculous. Like I said the backtracking of the high is what makes it suck for the low unless they don't mind going lame and bringing up the rear basically doing nothing. I am not that player and do not need carried either.
Your going to get a lot of flaming but I will only say 1 thing. People have paid for yearly memberships, those memberships are not going to end on the exact same date, thus taking "benefits" They have paid for away.
I don't think the OP should be flamed for adding an idea to the pile. It's a bad idea yes, but having seen it from that point of view, frustration can run high when those inconsiderate noobs ruin a run for people, ignoring the chat box/voice chat calls for feats. Good luck convincing a 175 going after the arkham speed feat to wait for the terror level to reach 100 on scarecrow. Even though a 175 can solo both feats in the same run... They just don't want to wait around, and are too lazy to go to the walk in that exists...IF they are even aware that it exists.
Where were all these high CR players when I was bringing my alts up? I have done most things in this game and would love to just blow past the old stuff that I don't care for anymore.
If you're claiming it would increase queue times then you're stating the game is so broken that it's core has died and this is the only way it works from here out. I wouldn't argue against that, either, to a point. CR Differential definitely made the issue worse, as it just increased the over-powered scale further and further based on a stupid number. The problem still existed before the CR change, too. This is just one issue stemming from a larger one, though. The first and foremost problem area the game had was never having locked roles bound by the queue. IE: What the server 'suggested' you play as would instead have been what you 'would be playing as', period. From this problem the devs allowed players to bend the rule of group composition and stack damage roles. With the game never having built with long term longevity of content health in mind, which would have included a limiting mechanic of some sort on wild stats and breaking the difficulty curve of content, this problem allowed stacking damage roles to continue, let alone flourish. Additional features like WM and then AMs only pushed this further, as somebody on the team lacked the vision necessary to foresee the damage it would have caused, or they had simply given up by that point. Either way, the damage snowballed for five years and took its toll on the quality and health of the game, and also played a part in the dramatic shift of community attitude and expectations. The game is nothing like it's original version (bugs aside), and ultimately not for the better. With the CR differential going away, eventually, it may reduce the impact these problems currently have, but to what extent is unknown. I can only imagine that instead of stat clamping, stat caps were used instead, at the very least on the damage factor itself. Another route, though heavily more complicated (may require more experience than what is available), is to have adaptive AI adjust to group composition on one layer, which would change up what type of enemies appear to counter extreme role stacking and prey upon difficiencies, and on a second layer, target individual players based on damage threat if and when a particular player begins to punish enemies more than the average, allowing abnormally high damage to actually pull enmity away from any tanks present for a uniquely coded attack. This factor would have to be attuned to what would be pre-defined as an acceptable scale for damage in that piece of content, as opposed to punishing the top dps because the others in the group aren't as skilled. This would unfortunately also require the mother #*&^%@* balancing to be #*&^$@& completed, too. I believe it would be beyond the scope of the team without serious resource gains, which I do not see happening. I see small corrections in functionality as possible, but not much beyond that. It's more about turning whatever DCUO is now into something that can maintain itself to simply keep sailing, as opposed to something of a course correction change that pushes the game into exponentially greater territory. It did last five, going on six years, survived multiple producers and directors, a CEO change, a studio buyout, and still has short term appeal, even with archaic tech. Considering the mishandling of properties under SOE, which lead to the disasters that cancelled The Agency (literally as DCUO was to release) and Everquest Next, the fact that DCUO has survived this long means that its potential has never gone unnoticed by it's user base. Whenever the next comic book inspired MMORPG comes around, and it will, DCUO will be sure to have had a large hand in influencing its design in many ways.
Like I've said before in a seperate thread, just modify the que system. https://forums.daybreakgames.com/dc...issues-with-the-current-queing-system.277868/ This thread should have some ideas that some of you people might agree with.
Nope. Do this instead: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/dc...ller-group-feature-for-every-instance.162363/ 149 upvotes so far
Thanks for input just throwing it out there knowing the reply. Makes the flaming irrelevant it was expected.
AN WELCOME ONCE AGAIN BOYS AND GIRLS TO WHAT? THE 1000TH THREAD ON JUST HOW HORRIBLE HIGHER CR ARE TO THOSE POOR LOWER TIER PLAYERS. First of all as several others here have already stated you say you pay for this game too... YEAH well so do we. Those HIGH CR running that mission with you get ZERO marks for doing so, UNLIKE YOU, get a bunch of crappy armor that unless it completes a style they are working on for a specific feat, is only good as salvage (and TRUST me we get enough salvage ffrom the junk gear that drops in our own content that we don't need), and running the thing means taking time away from running content that might actually give us armor we can use and ACTUAL marks we can buy other armor with. The only reason they are doing that to begin with is because this game is set up so it is nearly impossible to get all the feats available, of even do all the missions available, before your CR raises to a point where the content is considered "irrelevant" and we get nothing but alternate reward boxes. Now, just in case you live in a tunnel some where and have never heard this before lets go over the ISSUE you are moaning about because its been going on for a while. WAY back lower tier players were on here moaning and crying, just like you, about the high cr "ruining" their game experience. Then GU47 appeared and a big pile of content became "IRRELEVANT" which at the time meant if a higher cr did it they got no reward at all. GUESS what happened? All the higher CR stopped doing lower tier missions. YEAH They wont be ruining our fun anymore.. RIGHT? Yeah except a week later, IF THAT LONG< those same lower tier players were back on here because when al the higher CR left it started taking a LOT longer to find a team to run those alerts and raids.. Like as much as an hour. So the Devs came up with the Alternate Reward Box.. which has its good and not so good features but at least you got something if you qued up and did lower tier stuff. And so many Higher CR came back and worked on those elusive feats they'd missed and THEN........... Days later the same idiots that were crying because it was taking too long to form a team were right back here complaining because HIGHER CR ARE RUINING OUR FUN. Then the REAL fun started with the STAT CLAMPING threads demanding that if those higher CR drop back to do lower tier stuff they should be clamped so they were only as high as the other players on the team. Other players, mostly higher tier that had no desire to be stat clamped, suggested portals for every mission so they could simply go in an run the thing all by them selves. Well Day Break's response was simple. No plans to stat clamp anything and sorry no telepads to instances since the few that already exists cause glitches in the game and god knows we don't need anymore of those. YOUR options are pretty simple 1. FORM YOUR OWN TEAM.. this comes straight from Daybreak. Basically when you QUE up for any mission at any tier you are agreeing to team with whoever the que finds that is interested in doing that same mission at that time. If the resulting team doesn't meet YOUR standards Form your own. Now these are my add ons which also exist its just that daybreak didn't bother to list them... 2. You join a team, for an alert as example, and three of you are all within the normal range to be a part of that team but 1 guy is HIGHER CR. if YOU don't want him on the team start a kick vote to get rid of him. Now three things can happen here when you do that.. first one is the guy gets kicked and you all get to stand around waiting for the que to replace him. Then you get a team mate that is the right CR for the mission and move on second is the guy gets kicked and you might kick a CR 140 player and the que will find and replace him with a CR 170 player. At that point your screwed because you need to wait 3 hours before you can kick anyone again. third you start the vote and it fails. Now on a 4 man alert the guy your trying to kick has no vote so to get a majority and have the kick take place all you need is for one of the other two guys on the team to vote yes. IF the kick vote fails. no one on that team is upset with having a HIGHER CR on the team but YOU. 3. You can quit the team an after your 2 minute deserter penalty is up you can que up and look for another team. One that may or may not have another higher CR player as a member and you can start the whole thing all over again Now lets discuss why your so called solution will never take place. And the easiest example I can use is the Central City Rogue Bounty mission which have FEATS associated with them up to 500 defeated Rogues. This is set up so that the absolute most any player can do in a single day is 9 defeated rogues. Do the math.. it take 56 days to defeat 500 of them. They do not become available until a player reached CR 53 and no longer are considered "RELEVANT" by CR 77. I created a brand new character during the summer event taking advantage of the XP boost from the Wonder Woman logo. That new character is currently a CR 112 in less than 30 days of game play..... Now explain to me how he, or anyone else, gets those feats IF your PLAN goes into effect? I have no idea how long you have played this game or what plan you use, F2P, Premium, or Legendary but I have been subscribing, LEGENDARY, for FIVE years now and I have 20+ alts with multiple lairs (PAID for extra Deeds), multiple armories (Paid your extra armories) and took advantage of the replays to buy feats deal so every single one of them didn't have to do all that stuff over and over and over. Now SUPPOSEDLY one of the perks of being a subscriber is "Access to the entire game at no extra charge" Just so we are clear ALL THAT LOWER TIER CONTENT IS PART OF THE ENTIRE GAME. Do you honestly think the Daybreak Execs are THAT stupid? Your idea would cause a flood of players quitting and guess what... when the game stops turning a profit you can stop worrying about that High CR ruining it for you because they will shut the game down completely.. then you can go find a new game to play. Oh and in case you haven't figured it out yet.. Can you tell I am sick to death of threads like these.
OKAY see NOW I call BS. You are trying to tell ANYONE that you managed to complete 500 ROGUE BOUNTY missions all while still within relevancy and got 500 MARKS for completing all those missions? SO you stayed between CR 53-77 for 56 days. So what? You got to the cap for marks(which is 100) and then just did everything for zero marks? because if you bought any armor at all with all those marks you supposedly earned you would have passed VR 77 long before you got to 500 done. Sorry but this game is set up to advance quickly. Let's take a look at my new ALT I mention in my previous post here. I hit Cr 70 and started T4 content. Managed to find teams and did the Siege Bot and Morrow Bot Bounties and grabbed some free CR 73 armor there, ran the Gates of Tartarus and Prime Battle field raids and grabbed even more armor there. Ran T4 duos and grabbed some more armor there and the T4 alerts dropped even more armor there. Next thing I knew I was CR 84 and headed to the Wastelands and the T5 content.. Ran the daily missions in there and had some armor drop, ran the duos and had more drop, ran the alerts and raids and even more armor dropped. Without using a single replay I went from CR 70 to CR 100 in less than a week and hadn't even put a dent on all of the feats available in the T4 and T5 content and I was now doing T6. And trust me I have 20+ alt I KNOW that until you hit the upper tiers the unatunned gear simply doesn't exist so it doesn't matter if you slot it or not once armor hits you inventory it increases your CR. There is no way to SLOW down the process. That CR 111 alt I mention still needs to be assigned and complete FIVE (5) more daily mission at ACE Chemical to get the 10 FEAT points for that and still needs 7 more Siege and Morrow bot defeats to get those 2 ten point feats. I have defeatewd Raven in the wasteland exactly 1 time (need 14 for the feat) and have defeated Jack, Julius and James in the Wasteland dues one time each.. So I have 3 of the 17 defeats required for THAT feat.
