mmmm ok since you insist of defending the game, i am going to let you have it
Now I had no intention of scaring the community, I am just being realistic
Based on the facts and the game itself the game it is in no good shape. I had played many and multiples mmorpg but this one lacks everything and has many flaws.

Okay. Conjecture and anecdotes. Gotcha. :)

There is one thing that I commend you on, you are interested in this game enough to post in these threads.

Indeed I am, I had spend money and even bought a ps4 for this game, but my interest is declining. That is all

devs have embarked on a path that bores and drives away longtime players. "everything is fine we'll get new players."

devs embark on a path that turns away new players. "everything is fine we make enough money on existing subscriptions"

devs embark on a path that makes existing subscribers drop subscriptions because they no longer trust the direction of the game. "everything is fine the devs have something amazing planned"

devs embark on a path that leaves very little planned for the near future "everything is fine we have plenty to do for now"

there are other games coming out. "everything is fine dcuo has no real competition."

truth of the matter is, everything above in quotes is a lie. lies long time dedicated fans tell themselves to make them think that this game is just as guaranteed to continue as it has in the past. the population is going down the toilet longtime fans claim "summer is a slow time" despite how high the population has been during the summers of the last 4 years. the summer population has never been this low before. pc is very limited in population, likely because pc players have many more options for mmos that are not going down the path dcuo is. ps4 and ps3 population is dropping more steadily but still dropping, likely because of added pressure to sub due to lessened value of micro-transactions for an audience that is largely not inclined to subscriptions in their games. the population is less likely to recover because new players are punished, not rewarded for attempting to get farther in the game. these are problems that need to be corrected, plugging your ears and going "lalalalalalalala" whenever someone brings these up will not help anything.

also for comments for "p2p" will fix this. it won't. dcuo started as p2p the game was dying, so it was made f2p. our population including the f2p population is nearing the population level this game had when the f2p or close dilemma came about. to switch to p2p now would be the final nail in the coffin that puts dcuo in it's grave.

It's funny. I see threads like this and it seems like the general consensus of the boards is that the population is dwindling.

And yet, every night that I log into USPS, I feel like a grumpy old man - "Get off my lawn!"

There are SO many new players out in the Open World. In Metropolis, in Gotham, asking the same old Newb questions or asking to join Leagues. In Central City and the Gotham Wastelands even. And this isn't just at the low-end of leveling - when I go to do my daily mission on New Genesis, every area seems swarmed with other players. Dozens upon dozens of players dueling in the Watchtower. (And don't even get me started on the Seasonal).

Yes, my active League and Friend lists are a smidge shorter than usual on many nights. And maybe I'm just lucky enough to always get put into a high population phase. But USPS (PvE/Hero) seems to be absolutely thriving with players - new and old alike.

Anecdotal evidence, of course. Your mileage may vary. ;)

I was under the delusion that chicken little was a fictional character.

Does no one remember the summer of Orgin Crisis?

And what is it you think that image shows? And how is it a response to BumblingB's quote?

obviously population counts. bumbling is talking about there is no proof to be worried about the low population. however dcuo is over 1,000 less then elder scrolls (an mmo that just went free to play by the way.) over 3,000 less then marvel heroes, and over 11,000 under tera. pc population is extremely low and none of the "population is fine" crowd admits that it's a problem that needs to be tended to.

The lack of developer interaction on the forums is staggeringly low. Something this popular and controversial should have raised a few eyebrows. Ignoring stuff like this will run the game into the ground.

Except threads like this have been created from almost the git go and continue ad nauseum. I don't know that it's ignoring per sea but more likely just choosing which ones to respond to.

TBH I've not seen much in here that would necessitate a response. Population is low, fair enough, what response can they give?

Presuming they have a road map for interesting content on the horizon (which I hope is the case) I don't see why they'd break from a information marketing plan they'd likely have in place just because a thread of a couple dozen people is currently active. If they don't have any plan, then why would they advertise that? Either way I would suspect this thread like most others will be left to run it's course.

On top of all of that given that this a holiday week for many, I would not count on a lot of interaction other than by organic need such as replies to posts on test concerning update 50.

My sincere hope is that they do have some tangible news/dates to get the community excited about what is to come and like most years we'll hear about it mid-summer even without SOE Live as a platform convey it.

And...? Are those numbers from steam? Total population numbers from steam are meaningless. If they showed how it changed over time, that would at least be something, but just numbers? Meaningless. + We have no idea what percentage of PC players play through steam, and it's strictly pc when the majority of players are on PS. So triply meaningless.

I'm not saying dcuo isn't in trouble, but you guys are doing a very poor job of showing it.

    Is that steam?

Which I posted a link to a website earlier in this thread that states the same numbers. If that is steam, then all that tells me is that people like to log into Tera through steam. It also shows me that summer even dips for Tera too. Look at those peaks.

op took his numbers from checking the census daily, those numbers posted by zhiza are from steam, and numbers from various sources throughout have been shared before however, if numbers are meaningless then there is nothing else that can be said. because if a number is not enough to prove population, which is infact a number is at a certain point then i suppose nothing short of a dev announcing "dcuo is closing due to low population" is enough for you to prove that the population is low and needs to be somehow reinvigorated is necessary.

And you completely ignore the 3 reasons I gave why those numbers prove nothing. I guess once you've decided something, you stop listening to facts. Sad.

Cmon now! That 8k (1k EUPC Villain at least! others on vacation..) CR 114 chars on PC all represent individual players who are all subbed (15$/month) for the whole year. Those Subs alone make them atleast 1.45mil a year! Gross! Definetly nothing to worry about.

But those were posts just to scare us when we knew there was no lack of players. But after being on USPS Villian for 2 hours and seeing the same ten people shout for the same instance shown that the population has in fact decreased.

1.5 Million/ year is terribly low when you have a full studio and investors to pay( And server maintenance). That is the exact reason Columbus Nova got SoE for a cheap price. It was on the decline.

Daybreak _IS_ SOE. SOE was bought by Columbus Nova. SOE renamed themselves Daybreak.
