It would be interesting to know how many people are actually on-line. Counting characters is not really significant because, for instance, I log in daily with all of my 4 characters.

Also, a new created character doesn't mean necessarily a new player and a deleted character doesn't represent an abandoning player; I created characters just to read in-game the power descriptions of the various superpowers (to better understand how certain powers worked or to find a hint about countering certain powers in PvP) and i deleted them in the same day.

It would be great to have a statistic of online people for each hour of each day of the week, but I guess this data would be only available if you had a software to monitor the server traffic. Many games tell you how many people are on-line in that moment. I wonder why DCUO doesn't do that.

    Good job, AlwaysFumbles :).

I'm not seeing this most of this information anywhere either in the census data. Perhaps you could share exactly where and how you are accessing this data?

Nekron 99 figured it out above. I'm doing a daily snapshot of census data and comparing.

These numbers are a bit shocking! Is his after the last update? It sure does feel like half the pop left on the USPS villain side.

So, is the hash a timestamp that can be converted to a date or is it just some random data saved in the hash field each time a character is saved? A sample hash value looks like this: cadafa47b7a82abfc538cf6f5d282a67

The hash isn't exactly a timestamp or random, but yes, it is like a random number saved eact time a character is saved and you cannot reverse it to figure out a timestamp.

This is probably my last posting of these things. I'm gonna shut down the data collection.

I think it's part of the devs not really Acknowledging the Veteran Players. I have been a member since January 2012, and i have not seen anything exclusive to the Vets. Also, a couple of my friends have started playing but once they hit level 30 and realized that's where the progressive story ends. After that it's playing Raids and waiting until Reset to play some more. Plus it's plain old MMO burnout.

I logged into planet side for free on PS4 and it took over 10 minutes to log into the game. I saw hundreds of players online. When I say hundred, I'm talking about just the lone area I was in at that point. Went into another area, hundreds more. Within about 5 minutes I saw around 1,000 players on Planetside 2.

Logged into DCUO walked around the Watch Tower, checked out the police station, went to PVP phase, etc...I think and watched the names in LFG...I counted around maybe 500 total players, give or take. I logged off after I completed the seasonal.

DCUO is slowly losing players interest as nothing is really new or exciting. Seasonal is boring and doesn't take long and even the new content is old now.

If you want a true hero vs villian game, time to remove the two servers and make it interesting or make it so you have PVE world until you complete the main story arch. Once you complete the story arch you are placed into the PVP side of the game. Making heroes vs. villians more realistic than we have now. When I'm in PVP side, I rarely see any body. I can farm all day and night and get what I need without too much trouble. It would be nice to see more population there and big battles between heroes and villians.

We would probably see very similar to these things, and these numbers could discourage playing.

And you could see the effects of certain gameupdate.

    I forgot one more.

i know summer is normally a slow season for the game but i have never seen a summer this slow (been here since day 1). Honestly these numbers are very discouraging, hopefully the new monthly episodes will change things around because if not i honestly do not see how DCUO will survive if the numbers continue their downward trend

    Two questions...
    1. Where do you get these numbers?
    2. Why is EUPC villain missing? o_O
  14. Deranya Dedicated Player

I was wondering why EUPC Villains are missing too, but then I saw ... the graphs are not going into the negative :p nice overview tho

PS has an unusual amount of high Cr toons because we have an unusual amount of cheaters lol.....dox glitch and throne glitches catapulted hundreds to high Cr.

Actually... Summer is when ANY game is supposed to be booming. I remember summer of 2013, the servers used to crash because too many people were on.

I knew the USPC villain has been dead lately, but looking at the trend... wow. Growth has essentially stopped at the top PvE tier and at such low population numbers.

I still prefer everything about the villain side, but now I'm thinking the planned server merges won't be enough. Adding Suicide Squad to PvE may also be necessary.

interesting, now where are the fools saying that we have enough population in Dcuo
I laugh at the way of how some of you tell some of the people that are leaving to leave and not come back
Some of us rather leave without saying anything, "oh dont worry a new player would take your spot" hahahaha What new players?
let me see how long they stay until they leave and uninstall

Well for one, they could allow us to give gear to other Alts. It's like they want the grind to happen all over again
  20. UltraVillain Committed Player

Great work with the stat collation, it is all very interesting stuff, if a little disheartening as a PC villain myself - for the record I hate the idea of pve Suicide Squad because it would negate any reason to actually provide villainous content going forward.

At a time when we need to be doing everything we can to open the game to new players, encourage older players to assist in older content and make players feel their time is well spent in committing to the game progression........for GU47 to suddenly devalue vast swathes of the game, increase the inevitability of isolating players into smaller and smaller sub sections, equate progression to the game offering less, is self destructive and crazy on a whole new level.

Sadly also there is a tipping point in terms of population whereby it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, the perception of low numbers meaning people feel less inclined to log in again etc, but that rides atop a game that already divides and subdivides its population via a seemingly rigid mentality of 'new update=new instance'.

    Urgently imo we need
    • Crossplay
    • A Marks system that actually encourages players to all sections and levels of the game always (make the game feel like it expands going forward rather than contract as it demonstrably does thanks to Game Upset 47).
    • Content that really exploits the unique selling points of DCUO..ie the DC label, content that offers day to day tasks of heroism and villainy that puts us in the mould of a comic-book character.
    • Desist the automatic routine of new instances and make more reasons for players to share the world (stop increasing he reasons for us to isolate ourselves from one another).
