I dont think it is,do f2p players pay for something that would justify them having this feature? Whats the point to spend money at all if f2p gets the best stuff legendary used to offer? I find it „stupid“ to request such thing and you are being greedy seems like the f2p get more and more greedy.
I'd forgotten about the chat restrictions, they were a more recent addition. Free player restrictions on chat were a failed attempt at stopping the gold sellers. Some ways around the restriction without paying were discovered, and paying $5 on new accounts several times might not even put a dent in their bottom line. But chat restrictions existing or not does not affect the other current/long existing benefits of premium over free. I should note, Mepps only mentioned membership benefits changes, but it's possible there would be a more comprehensive change impacting premium as well.
First of all we had people ******** that DCUO is NOT F2P. Now they are ******** that it looks like they may be going down that route... ...whilst also ******** that they have lost value from the next month's sub without seeing what the increased Membership Benefits are. I seem to remember that Open Episodes and Event Versions didn't attract this much grief? They were hailed as an incentive to get new players in, and tide people over through the pandemic? Make your minds up, people. Seriously, how is Open Episodes NOT a massive hit on the value of your Membership? But ONE FREE EPISODE as a track to F2P? OH NOES!
If the game-cash cap was "just stupid" and didn't limit people in a way that annoys them, no one would ask for it to be removed. That it bothers people enough to ask for the cash cap to be removed demonstrates that the cash cap is working as intended. Which is to say, it's intended to make people feel so limited by not subscribing that they want to subscribe. Alternatively, people can choose not to play at all. But the limitation, given how well it works, is demonstrably not "stupid" from the POV of the business. If you want to play the game, show some monetary support. The devs don't pay rent or for food with Likes.
Open episodes is, in theory, a temporary thing that gives limited access to episodes (some rewards are only available to Legendary players, and to those who have actually bought the episode). The announcement implies that, if this trial with episode 40 works out, then all future episodes will be given free to players. Including all rewards. That's the difference. I think they should have announced the changes to Legendary membership at the same time. As it stands, we are being asked to take it on faith that Legendary membership will be adjusted to compensate for the removal of one of its major perks. Just as we were told that the block on transferring cash within our own account was a temporary change that would soon be removed, for example. Details of the expected changes to Legendary would likely have made the announcement of the removal of a perk more palatable (assuming the changes were seen to be worth the lost value of episode access). Problem is that a lot of people don't seem to trust the devs these days.
im thinking they gotta be expanding legendary perks,too many non members? so increase the incentives to become legendary im guessing. this episode is free but not everything else that comes with being legendary hmm ok thats fine. Mannnnnn keep that stabilizer fragment boost going since they getting an episode free, hook us paying customers upppppp fr tho
I've played other games in which a membership was not needed, however, there were perks that the free players could not get without paying. I'm excited to see where this goes. Since we don't know what the devs have planned, lets speculate for a second. What if a perk for time capsules were similar to lockboxes? Or maybe paid members got automatic breakthroughs? What would be worth our sub? They said they will be reading our feedback, so let's voice our opinions about what we would like to see as new perks, give the devs a chance. I'm sure they have something awesome in mind, or they are waiting for US to tell them what we would like to see.
Why do people say this, as a member you're still better off than the other 2, access to money, all powers, extra slots, loyalty points, discount on markeplace etc.
Revamp membership benefits it's good, but I hope all categories of players(premium, free) will get some improvements. The game is not very friendly to premium and free players. For example premium players can't craft episode specific soder due to cash cap... And it's kinda not fair, you know, they are bought episode, but they didn't get access to all perks in the episode. It's better than it was in old days, when they couldn't craft mods for gear, but still... Devs, please just make DCUO better and more friendly for all players. Thx.
Making the Membership perks appealing while making the free & premium experience a struggle is the best way to make paid subscriptions both appealing and worth the subscription cost. If they made life easier for F2P players why would they want to pay any money for premium let alone subscription each month?
I think this is actually something great. Really hope active player base gets increase. Something I think would be great for members is a seal of completion with the membership. The artifact system is already horrible so I think this would be something great taking in consideration theres people (myself included) running 6+ artifacts and have more than 1 toon.
