I want to understand this Chit

I'm trying to farm up the Exalted style. According to the DCUO Wiki, obtaining it involves getting a bunch of little Chits from Wonder Woman's box. Easy to follow, cool, cool.
You get your hands on her box after doing chores for most of the week, so it's not a daily privilege and you have to sink some time into it. Fine, makes sense and I have no problem with that.

But I've done it on multiple characters for a few weeks now, and noticed that this little Chit is giving a generic Gear Box now, instead of what it's described as rewarding; namely, Empyrean pieces that are of the Exalted style.
This generic Gear Box seems to contain random items from a pool that extends across a bulk of the life of the game, and may not be tied to the DLC it originates from. Is that accurate for how the Gear Box works?

I took some screenshots from this morning's attempt to visually demonstrate the process, as well. I know some of us are visual learners!

Is there another method of obtaining the Exalted style set, be it directly a style item or a scaling piece of Empyrean gear or a vendor sale, etc.? I've poked around online and I find plenty of older posts about it dropping from the Sons of Trigon content, followed by more recent posts that this is no longer the case. I've also found other posts that mention the difficulty of finding older style items, like Exalted, but more in a passing mention of a larger problem with older styles' collection methods being changed over time.

Please let me know if I've misunderstood the obtainment means/process as it currently exists for the Exalted style.
    Thank you for your time.

Yeah, the Trigon episode had exalted and corrupted. Exalted came from the weekly boxes after the 5th day duo was run (requiring the 'extra' boss brother in each duo location), and corrupted came from defeating Raven weekly. What was nice about these as well as the weekly 5th day interior mission in Ace Chem or Strykers, was that you picked your piece, meaning after a max of 8 picks, you had the set done. For exalted, that meant about 2 weeks (3 missions a day for 5 days x 8 boxes so about 15 days to complete) or the other 3, it meant about 8 weeks running a quick daily, then the interior mission...or the raven bounty 1 time a week. So while it was a bit time consuming....it was 'easy' to complete these sets as you knew exactly how long it would take to get any 1 piece...the exact piece you wanted.

NOW....since all these are injected into the 'can drop everywhere....or nowhere' randomness, it might be done in a week...or 2...or 50...RNG cares not for how long you try to get a style done. These fixed style choices should NOT be mixed into the omni rotations and you should still get the 1 of 8 choices originally there. I think because these didn't really 'drop' and were instead choices from a fixed rewards list, making them drops and adding them to the 'general' style table was just the easiest fix they could come up with, but should be undone. That or they should be in the drop style vendor at a reduced rate as they were indeed 'easy' to get before...easier than 70 marks would be appropriate. Maybe 30 per piece...240 a set.

i noticed this is the same for Amazon Fury Part 1 in the Gotham Under Siege open world. do days of quest and the box no longer rewards its special gear type, just the 2 randoms.

it would be nice IF the original gear was still in there ALONG with the 2 randoms, but its not.

idk if its a bug or if its intended, never found out, but i ended up buying my last piece from the house of legends bot (thankfully i only needed one more after the clamp)

Also the collections dont drop despite the game going f2p in Gotham Under Siege, its in the bug reports, but never got any mentioned/attention from the devs yet, so dropping it here too with problem :)

  4. BumblingB I got better.

This is one of the changes that came in with Omnibus that I did not like. We should still be able to get the styles that used to be guaranteed from those specific quest rewards.

Also, I thought you were saying something else when you said chit... lol

Oh now now. We all knew they meant the reward boxes. :)

This! Needed my last piece for the af1 style and opened the box and it’s something completely else! So stupid it’s like chit!

Not that this solves the actual issue but I just finally finished the set and I got the missing pieces by running all 4 of my toons thru event alerts. They’re random drops in there. So ran it the last 2 dlcs and bought what I needed with rps on my main of an alt collected the
Feat is done as of last week. Finished 3 random sets this way. Event pays one less coin than reg, 3 vs 4, and doesn’t drop relevant gear or guitar picks but it’s a guaranteed successful pug run and can be done in under 5mins and still get salvage gear. And my alts get a ton of styles

So, if I'm reading this right, you're saying you got some of the Exalted set pieces in the event alerts...but what is the "bout what I needed with rps" bit?
  10. xxHELLSTROKExx Loyal Player

Sorry, meant to write “rb’s”. Replay badges. So I’ve been running 4 toons thru event alerts for the last 2-3 months and every now and then, one gets a piece of exalted or some other random style they don’t have. Earlier this week, I went thru my mains style list and unlocked a bunch of styles with replay badges. Exalted was one of the style sets that completed and the feat popped. My main was missing 2 pieces so one of my alts got it at some point for him. None of my alts run any old content so I know that’s where it’s coming from plus I did get one piece on my main because I was very surprised to see a style he didn’t already have drop.

While this IS the best method we have now, run on alts, then buy missing pieces as they drop....should it be? Personally I'd rather have something I know I have to run for X days on 1 toon (most 8 piece sets were done in 40 days with just a few min a day detour to whatever area the job was in) vs something I have to run on a ton of alts AND just have dumb luck on drops. Granted, in the end it might be 'faster' if you get lucky, but RNG is RNG....you might miss that 1 piece for months, all while eating up more time running and switching toons multiple times a day. If you already plan on running a ton of alts, I suppose this might be a 'win' for you....for people that run 1 toon, it's a PITA.

I'd rather have slow and steady than random...personally....but I hate anything tied to random luck. I'm not here to gamble...I'd go to a casino game for that.

Definitely agree. Which is why I said “not that it solves the actual issue” part. Just giving op another option. I don’t play old content unless I’m chasing something and I had given up on getting this exact style a while ago but discovered it when playing lazy haha

So...time to start spamming current content and hoping for the best. Thank y'all for stopping by and sharing what you've found, I honestly appreciate the clarification.

Update: it finally dropped in the Halloween vault.

To anyone who finds this thread later, looking for the same answer: make alts, run vaults.
  15. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

Congrats. But for those keeping score, New system of random drop everywhere took 5+ months. I'll assume you didn't run every day, but figure 3-4 months worth in that time (just a guess).

Old system of getting 3 pieces every 5 days if you ran the 3 daily missions in Gotham Wastelands....2 weeks...max.
