Ice. It is by far the simplest tanking power which allows you to focus on learning general tanking mechanics and strategies and not worry about learning the the complexities of a powerset.
Fire or ice. I'd say fire to be honest. Very simple, more so than ice to me. It's not the greatest but simple to understand-Pull, heal, and most importantly run away! More forgiving in terms of shields too. Ice is a bit trickier with no 360 pull and ice armor mechanic. Ice is easy to pick up and have success but it doesn't teach you enough because you need to learn how to time your shields first. Imo ice it doesn't teach you enough for successfully tank later on with you mistiming and overriding your shields. Fire on the other hand teaches you everything and is simple enough to digest and understand. You will learn a lot from fire tanking, unlike ice that doesn't really teach you how to properly mitigate damage and how much is too much. Tell you what... If you learn how to fire tank, you will learn enough to be successful as any other tank power if you switch later on
