There was a time when I cared about Star Wars, before the dark times, before Katheen Kennedy...

I'd take sentiments like this a little more seriously if the same kinds of comments hadn't already been made ad nauseum about George Lucas during the time the prequels were being made.

The problem with the prequel‘s, is that George Lucas is a visual director and not a performance director. He was also surrounded by yes man. That’s why when episode three came out, it was his best movie of the prequel trilogy. He had two movies to practice with and by the time the third was filmed he was more comfortable in that role. Much like Zack Snyder, George Lucas visuals are far superior than his story telling. What George needed to help with the prequel’s was a performance director, he tends to hire actors that he puts his full confidence in for the actors to carry out his dialogue and execute the correct tone and emotion.

The issue that the sequel trilogy ran into is in the deal that they made with Lucas to use the original trilogy characters. First of all they regressed both Han and Luke to previous films with us ruining the story arc that they had in the original trilogy. Han Solo went back to being a smuggler and returned to his ANH paradigm. They regressed Luke back to his ESB persona thus ruining his story arc. they want you to care for these new sequel trilogy characters, but they are only mishmash carbon copies of the original cast. Another problem that this sequel trilogy is having is the story. George made it so that at the end of return of the Jedi the galaxy was set right and there is no threat after Sidious. And from what I am hearing from the rumors is that they are going to be dabbling in time travel as well as a new force power fighting style called force flash where the characters are going to be fighting each other via light saber across the galaxy which is going to be visually fantastic but that’s where the buck stops, no substance.

Those weren't the criticisms about the prequels, though. More often than not "die-hards" were angry because it either wasn't like the original trilogy or that it wasn't how they thought the story would or should play out. And considering that your criticism of the new trilogy's treatment of Han and Luke is echoing those same kind of sentiments, you'll pardon me for seeing similarities.

A lot of those complaints, from my perspective, come from people putting all sorts of expectations on the story (particularly in how they think things should play out) that may not even be realistic. For example, the expectation that Snoke's backstory would be revealed or explored in Last Jedi was particularly unrealistic because the makers never said they were going to do anything like that. In those regards the best advice I give is this: let go of your expectations, let them tell the story and judge things based on what it is, not what you thought it should be.

Two last things: First, I'd take rumors about the new film with a grain of salt. Tends to lead to unrealistic expectations. Second? The OT ended with the Emperor dead, Vader redeemed and the heroes victorious. That's pretty far from "the galaxy is set right and there is no threat after Sidious." It did remind me of a Robot Chicken skit, though:

It’s not just that I didn’t agree with the treatment of Han and Luke. The whole Canto Byte scene was unnecessary, it achieved nothing. The side story with Rose and her sister felt shoehorned. There was no point to the end sequence with the Crait ships, they had no weaponry, just sitting ducks, the part where Finn was to sacrifice himself was goofy and impossible for rose to be able to catch up to him to knock him out of the way. The way they treated the space horses running through the casino teaching us how to abuse animals by running them head first into a solid wall without giving them a concussion. All in all the Last Jedi was a boring slowspeed chase that should have taken a couple more drafts or rewrites before going into production. It had good elements to it, Doug Chaing was still the art director, like he was in the prequel trilogy, however, I am hugely disappointed with the reuse of Tie fighters and Xwings for this era. Thanks for bringing to life more of Ralph’s concept art but this sequel trilogy really needed its own identity. I relied heavily on the OT. Too much in my opinion.

Oh yeah, they have so many things they can do in that 20-year period on Tatooine (maybe even other worlds). I like to think Qui-Gon did visit Obi-wan again after seeing him in the Clone Wars series.

I find Collider Live to be the best show of the Collider family.

As for Rule of Two, I don't like Mark Fernandez and find it hard to watch the show but will watch if the subject looks good.

The main thing he did was watch over Luke. That was his main purpose there, as he said to Bail Organa and Yoda on Polis Massa

Liam Neeson. Even if he’s just a Force Ghost, Qui-Gon teaching Obi-Wan how to be the mentor Luke needs — and how he went wrong with Anakin — could add quite a bit of something... to the saga’s mythology.

It really depends on the situation, he's an okay guy.

Why would you throw down that money for the Smuggler's run attraction?

There is literally nothing to do but shop in the park.

There are fans out there who would love the chance to walk around in a Star Wars environment.

Personally I already got to do that for about seven years via Star Wars Galaxies, so I'm good. :D

I spent years working on Star wars movie props and CG models, I guess it's ok, but Galaxies Edge is really generic when it comes to starwars. The most starwars thing about the park is the Falcon. Paying 200 dollars for their lightsaber is ridiculous, since there are better blades out there (Master Replica, Saberforge, etc) Paying for the droid is silly too, I guess it is fun to assemble these droids like a Build-a-bear workshop, but they are very pricey too.

I'm just not impressed with what the "Imagineers" created. The park is based heavily on the sequel trilogy, which I understand, that is the only era that Disney legally own all rights to. That is why they are bringing Vader back in Orlando; they see that the nostalgic characters are what continues to excite and delight the fans, both young and old.

It's official at the D23 Expo.

    • Ewan McGregor returns for Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. The series will take place 8 years after RoTS, around the same time as Solo. Filming will begin in 2020.
    • Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk will reprise their roles as Cassian Andor and K-2SO from Rogue 1 in a prequel series on Disney+. The series will take place after SW Rebels. Filming will begin in 2020.
    • The Mandalorian official trailer revealed.
    • Disney also revealed an official Star Wars timeline, as seen above.

Alongside the MCU shows announced, Disney+ looks to be a real contender in the streaming service games. Not to mention, it's half the cost of Netflix.

Oh and one thing I forgot:

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 will premier on Disney+ in February 2020. And here's anew pic.

I can't wait for season 7. TCW is, in my opinion, some of the best Star Wars content ever created. The story arcs are beautiful, the characters are well developed, and the show hovers the lines between PG and PG-13, making it great for everyone to watch (the show gets really dark at times). I highly recommend it for any SW fan. It's the best animated show I've ever seen, and probably one of the best out there.

Collider is a joke, no substance, watch beyond the trailer (even though i disagree with her on a lot of issues), emergency awesome, jeremy jahns, popcorn planet or tyrone magnus!

Collider is the worst and heavily opinionated, media controlled bunch I’ve come across!

I’m interested in the mandalorian, it’s got potential, but if I know Disney, (and I do) they will somehow mess it up.

I liked Rogue One and for the most part enjoyed Solo, but that’s it so far. I’m waiting on Disney to come out with something that’s not garbage.

And this kind of character is why Boba Fett remained so freaking popular with fans. LOL

I always preferred the Expanded Universe exploration of Mandalorians and their culture over what they decided on for canon in the Clone Wars series (really, yet another elected monarchy?!) but I think this series has the potential to scratch a particular itch for parts of the Star Wars fanbase.
