I see since I have been gone DCUO has gained a TON of new and exciting powers. It looks like the game has become a plethora of endless combinations of fun. I had a concept for a power of healing and I don't know if anyone would be in agreement to this but: For the heros having a Blue Lantern, and for the Villains using Star Sapphires. I understand that S.S. are normally women but eh we've broken rules thanks to the ExoBytes, so why not? It is essentially the same as the controller with GL's and YL's and it gives people to use more of the emotional spectrum. Just a thought
Its not so much that they can't its more so they would REALLY be stretching the lore to the point that WB/DC would step in and say uhhh no.
Except the Star Sapphires are both heroic and villainous so making them villain exclusive wouldn't work they even act more heroic in this game. Really Star Sapphires would make the best candidate for the Healer Lantern power and they should be for both males and females. There have been more Star Sapphire females but male Star Sapphires do exist. I mean by the same token for a good portion of comic history there were more evil Red Lanterns then good ones but the power is still for both factions.
Star Sapphires may be either gender (or any number of alien races that do not confine themselves to binary gender constructs). Star Sapphires may be both heroic or villainous. The only requirement was that they had a strong connection to the Love portion of the emotional spectrum (either feeling great love, or great loss related to love). The idea that Star Sapphires were female by nature stems from an early divide of the Oans where the males decided to suppress emotion in order to impose order and structure, becoming what would eventually be the Guardians over the Green Lantern Corp, while the female Oans embraced emotion and never accepted the idea that rejecting emotion was the proper way to build a healthy society, splintering off and becoming the Zamarons and eventually the Star Sapphires. Since both Corps have extended beyond their original planet to become an intergalactic force, that core divide by gender is less rigidly structured and more just a historical snippet. The Star Sapphire rings do not care about gender; only about the ability to harness the violet light energy of the Predator Entity.
Exactly Brit which is again the reason why I think that Star Sapphires would make the perfect Healer Lantern power. They are members of both factions and genders.
