Damn Fatal, your thread is perfect to my current feelings on the game. My legendary expired today and I have no interest in renewing it at all. I can't even login to the game anymore as to how boringly repetitive the starro and seasonal events are. I'll be doing the same thing as you and i'll be taking a break for awhile. I don't even know if I'll be playing the new dlc when it comes out, just can't stand looking at this game as it is and watching it degrade before my eyes. I hope you find a decent replacement to get dcuo off your mind long enough for you to get that itch of curiosity to come back. I'm gonna need a couple months of rehab before I'm fit to come back myself.

I think it's the wiser way to go, I am close to drop the curtain myself just waiting my sub to expire, after so much love for the game it is so sad to see the game state is in; my lows in the game are far way more than the up:
UPS
my friends
League mates
The D.C. Universe

DOWNS
pay to win
Time capsules
Easy boring contenT
My friends and league mates shrinking
Lack of proper reason to grind
So so devaluated sp , even stats matter can't fix that
Cater just for casual and people chasing shiny stuff, Among direction of the game and a lot of other stuff
The more you spend in this game the more frustrated they will get at the end

•Content has gotten drastically easier over the years, they began to cater to the more casual crowd with nerfs and snooze fest raids with the exception of a few rare gems like DWF and throne, it made gameplay stale and boring, that combined with AMs ultimately killed any excitement that pugging bought forth. Hell the super challenging "members" version of the Starro raid isn't even that challenging, nor is a lot of the elite content, or SM, which are supposed to be built for the "I love a challenge" crowd.

•The community itself isn't the same as it was back then. A lot of freinds left after PvP went down the toilet or when AMs came into play. Not to mention the introduction of time capsules took another blow at the freindslist. The villain side is becoming a graveyard, it's hard to even create and get a league established because the population is so low. I've seen more villain league recruitment threads in the past 8 months then I ever seen before but according to Jackster the population is "healthier then it's ever been", yeah ok buddy, feel free to take a trip to the not-so-sunny side every now and then.

I'm aware the stats revamp will help a little bit, I plan to return for it, but it won't fix the money drive that daybreak has cranked into ignition and accelerated over the years. I understand it's a business but it's getting worse, to the point where players feel like they can't keep up without dumping their wallets or having hundreds of millions of ingame cash to buy everything they need, and the devs are feeding off that mentality of "I need to complete this" or "I need to get this feat or style" with capsules and replays, finding more ways to utilize both. They're too scared to even alter time capsules in any way in fear it could reduce stabilizer purchases, despite all of the negative feedback on the forums, the whales speak louder.

Speaking of whales, I used to be one. Dumping over $100+ on booster bundles (I spent $200 just trying to obtain the cosmic material). Looking back now I regret it. I fed into that mentality that I needed to have the cool shiny things no matter the cost and it helped contribute into the cash grabbing frenzy that we see today. The same frenzy that helped clear out a lot of good friends I had, as well as leagues that have been around for years just disappearing without a trace, but this is the "not so pretty" dark side of dcuo that isn't shown to the unknowing public, the side you won't hear about in livestreams or interviews with the CEO.

I'll just be real here, I'm not gonna say "I quit for good, I'm never coming back" because we all know that's bollocks for just about the majority of "I quit" threads, plus I always do end up returning eventually. What I'm hoping this thread will do is help redirect the direction the devs are taking the game, since I'm almost 100% sure I'm not the only one feeling like this. That said, no you can't have my sh*t, lol.

I feel the same way. I quit for good though, (wife did as well) and even deleted the game off the ol' hard drive. We left before, for months even, but this time felt different. We left not because of boredom, but because of the blatant cash grabs and $$$ hungry mentality. Glad you see the light and hopefully you find something better. Lurk the forums, it's much better than the game itself.

Logging into the forums for the first time in a while to say sorry to see you go. Hopefully you hang around here. I always found your posts pretty insightful, straight to the point & funny. Specifically remember a post in which you referred to Khalon (I think) regarding just loving the game & it's a shame that for the reasons you mentioned your own love for the game has dwindled.

Fwiw, given your point of view tends to be pretty fair, reasoned & on the whole positive, I think (or at least hope) this 1 might resonate wit the powers that be.

You've stated a few reasons why you're leaving. I think maybe what would also be helpful if you mentioned 1 change (stats matters apart) that might persuade you to hang around.

I never thought for a minute I would ever waste a sub and uninstall this game, however Daybreak got me over that little barrier.

2 weeks into my monthly, I deleted every character I had, uninstalled the game and haven't looked back since.

I now have a gaming life! I play Dawn of War 3, Mortal Kombat X, Street Fighter, Witcher 3, Hearthstone, to name just a few, DCUO USED to be great, now, its lifeless.

OP you will move on, DCUO is dead, it needs a new life, and it wont get it. However, you will move on, and find a new lease of life!
