Devs/ Meeps any news on a PS4 Pro Patch?

ESO got theirs. The Division gets its patch next week. Neverwinter and Warframe have confirmed updates in the works. Just wondering if anything is planned for DCUO. Most of the player base is PS-centric, isn't it? Seems like a sound upgrade and would be a good way to revitalize some PS interest in the game. Kind regards and happy holidays.

ESO, the division, NW and Warframe all are ps4 and pc titles only. So no. DC will not get any updates in this manner because this game is also on ps3

those other games you mentioned are not.

None of you are actually involved in development, and the responses are sadly in line with the snide, dismissive behaviour so prevalent in the community. For the record, FFXIV is getting a Pro patch, and that's on PS3, too. (They're also killing PS3 support next year.) There are plenty crossgen titles getting Pro patches, even games that are on the Vita. It's a mandate that every new title (as in released on or after the Pro launch) is updated with a Pro mode.

MMORPGs are in a bit of a gray area as ongoing service titles, but most if not all are getting Pro patches. To outright say that DCUO isn't getting one ignores the trends and evidence to the contrary. Again, only a dev can answer this, which is to whom the question was asked.

Mandated? Really? That seems a little excessive from PS. Huh.

DCUO will probably get a new shirt style with a patch that says "Pro Patch".

Then perhaps you should have sent the question to Mepps or someone else on the dev team via PM. That way you could have avoided all the "snide, dismissive behavior" that came with people giving responses.

And for the record, this isn't FFXIV. Comparisons to other MMOs and their associated companies only go so far and usually end up being an "apples and oranges" comparison at the end of the day.

A dev announcement saying that DCUO would be getting a Pro patch would be evidence to the contrary of people outright saying it isn't getting one. Other MMOs getting the patch would indicate the possibility of DCUO getting one, but it's not evidence that it IS getting one.

PS4 version of DCUO is already playing at 60 FPS.

If you are like me and have a PS4 Pro with a HDR tv, your TV can upscale DCUO. While it may not be the best like the other games that have a patch for it. Its the best you can do for right now.

They already said earlier that PS3 still makes a good amount of revenue so they cant drop it( how sad). And for them to work on a patch for PS4 pro would be going out of their way especially considering they have stats matter to worry about.

This isnt FFXIV. FFXIV is a P2P game. DCUO is F2P. At fanfest in Las Vegas Yoshi stated his reasons for dropping the PS3 version, not only that but PC minimum requirements for that game was increased. The amount of money FFXIV makes compared to DCUO is very large, and most Pro patches have very strong developer teams behind them.

The Witness, Helldivers and plenty of Indie to A (not AAA) games got Pro patches; every game from November 12th onward HAS a Pro patch. The work is supposedly minimal and can be done by one man in a matter of weeks.

Also (to a different poster), I PM'd Meeps days ago and Tweeted the question to the official Twitter without any sort of response. So this would be my final recourse.

The first three replies were outright, uniformed dismissals of the question that invited no kind of civil debate and ignored any and all knowledge regarding Pro patches thus far (well the one fellow's wasn't overly hostile, though it wasn't knowledgeable). And as I mentioned above, Meeps and the official Twitter were pinged to no effect. Every game from November 12th and onwards is getting Pro support. There isn't one that isn't.

I was just wondering if/ when DCUO was getting it, since every other persistent online game launched before the Pro seems to be. That's all. I'll just check back for any official reply if there is one since these threads degrade so quickly.

P.S. The suggestion that they haven't the manpower to implement what is lauded as a simple "one-man" job when they clearly had the resources to blow launching a stillborn X1 version, seems a bit strange. I'd think that doubling down on the PS userbase would be a good idea considering the game's population woes.

You have to keep in mind these titles had PS4 pro patch in the works before PS4 pro was released. Sony gave several developing studios PS4 pros to implement a PS4 pro version or day 1 patch. Ultimately Sony even stated its up to the developers to decide if they want to do a PS4 Pro patch and for some games Sony even teamed up with some studios to do so.

DCUO is not the only one. Planetside 2 ( also made by Daybreak) is also waiting for their PS4 pro patch. And their devs admitted to having the kits but dont have any details of yet. It seems to be more of a Daybreak problem in general. Especially considering many of their soon to be titles for the PS4 were canceled this year.

While the first three replies may have been a bit on the dismissive side, it's tough for me to look at them as hostile in any way. If anything, your reply in regard to those responses was easy to read as more or less jumping down their throats. As for not getting any response on Twitter or from the community manager, it's best to keep in mind that it is VERY close to the holidays and that the devs may be winding down a bit before the holidays hit. And just as a spelling thing, Mepps is the community manager. Dunno who Meeps might be, maybe you're thinking of this guy...

    Couldn't resist. :D

As for the manpower, beyond the holidays coming up you also have to keep in mind that the #StatsMatter stuff looks to be an "all hands on deck" affair for the team. After the first round of testing we had a bunch of new devs starting up and contributing to feedback threads for the changes that showed up on Test. Even if it's a relatively simple task, the devs look to have a lot on their plates already and a Pro patch could very well be low priority right now.

Just learned that Planetside 2, by Daybreak, received its patch on the 30th of November.

The people answering you for the most part, have been here long enough to know where to look for answers to these types of questions...particularly when you're not the first to ask this question. They also know that no answer usually means there's nothing to say on the subject just yet...because if they give a definitive no, they've basically lied if things change, and they'll get crucified as usual. And if there is something in the works, they won't reveal anything until they are remotely close to bringing it out.

As I stated above, they may not answer at all...so you either get a thread that you bump until it gets closed for adding nothing constructive or you get answers from people here who may have a clue or two about whether or not it may be a possibility. Having said that, you have the privilege of creating a thread to ask the Devs questions. You do not have the right or privilege to essentially (for all intents and purposes) tell people to be quiet.

After doing a quick search on the forum for the subject matter at hand, I saw no green names (Mepps pretty much) confirming or denying any possible graphical upgrade for either the PS Pro or X-Box One S (same gos for the PC...which technically has always been more capable of supporting higher graphics). Considering the MASSIVE undertaking that is the Stats Revamp, I highly doubt they're working on an upgrade that will only benefit a small handful of early adopters. Unlike the upgrade from a PS3 to PS4, the PS pro is a marginal improvement for those who own or will own a 4K tv. That's going to be (or already is) a significantly small number of players (there are more people playing the games you mentioned respectively). That would be a waste of resources, at this time...so don't expect an answer from the Devs. And if Mepps does replay, be prepared to be disappointed when he says that there's nothing in the works. That's s.o.p. around these parts.

Good news for Planetside 2, then. But are their devs working on the same kind of stat revamp that we're looking at in our game? Did they just deliver a rather sizable amount of content to their game, along with working on an anniversary event that looks to be surprisingly significant? Are they on the same platforms (or even the same amount of platforms) as DCUO? Are they having to deal with the possibility of having to get approval from an outside company because it's not their own IP?

Even within the same game company, comparisons are rarely "apples to apples."

DCUO is already compatible with the PS4 Pro and will play on the system.
