Yeah, but they tend to be busy being with their families (for some reason) or traveling to be with said family

Guess it's time for some other elaborate sandwich recipe again....

BBQ Steak Sandwiches with Smothered Onions

    You need:
    - vegetable oil
    - 8 (1 pound) slices minute steaks, seasoned to taste with salt and pepper
    - 1 large Vidalia onion, sliced or sweet onions
    - ¾ cup barbecue sauce
    - ¼ cup Worcestershire Sauce
    - 8 slices cheese (pick your favorite, I love cheddar)
    - 4 sub rolls, split

    Step 1:
Heat oil in large nonstick skillet until very hot. Cook steak pieces 5 minutes until browned, turning once; remove from skillet.

    Step 2:
Saute onion in same skillet until tender. Add barbecue sauce and Worcestershire. Heat through.

    Step 3:
Spoon saucy onions on bottom of rolls, dividing evenly. Arrange 2 pieces steak on bottom of each roll and top with 2 slices cheese. Close rolls.

Apropos of nothing, here's a recipe:

    Red's Glazed Ham

    1/4 cup honey
    1/3 cup marmalade
    3 tbsp molasses
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 tsp ground cloves
    1/8 cup water

    1 large ham
    1 pkg whole cloves

Cross-hatch cut the ham and poke whole cloves in the center of each diamond.

Mix all other ingredients in a small saucepan
simmer on low until it reaches a smooth consistency - about 15 minutes

brush glaze on ham, cook 20 mins per pound at 275 F
reapply glaze at same 20 min intervals.
let stand for 3 mins before carving.

Had to learn to cook ethnic food for my husband

LOMO SALTADO aka Stir Fried Beef

1 (16 ounce) package of frozen fries
    vegetable oil
1 pound of beef tri tip (sliced 1/8 or 1/4 inch thick)
    salt and pepper
1 large onion (sliced into strips)
3 large tomatoes (peeled, seeded, sliced into strips)
1 yellow chili pepper (Peruvian aji amarrillo)
    1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
    1 dash soy sauce
    2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

    Steps (Cooking time 20 min)
    1. Prepare the bag of French fries according to package directions
    2. While the French fries are cooking, heat the oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
3.Season the sliced meat with salt and pepper to taste. Fry the meat until just cooked, and the juices begin to release.
4.Remove the meat from the frying pan, then cook the onions, with additional oil if needed, until they are transparent. Stir in the tomato and aji amarillo; cook until the tomato softens. Pour in the vinegar and soy sauce, add the French fries, cover, and cook until the beef is done, about 3 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with chopped parsley to serve.
