That would cause too much of a revolt, because it resembles Capcom style DLC charging, and we all know what happened with Capcom
  6. Ivar New Player

Why doesn´t this game have repair kits?

Yes, your argument is just that - an argument with no facts and only opinion.

Sony is making money when they charge for a DLC. Raising the cap in increments directly related to DLC purchases means they are still making money.

If Sony wishes to charge for DLCs while shutting out people who play DLCs from experiencing content due to poorly planned out cash cap, then they will actually stop making money off DLC sales.

    That's how marketing works.

    That's how game design works.

Right now, it's barely doable for premium to handle DLC 11. As of DLC 12, it will be impossible. You guys haven't experienced it yet, but it will be impossible given the current numbers I'm seeing.

The only other option is for Devs to dramatically reduce the cost of armor repair.

WOW had a similar problem, where repairing armor was breaking the bank of players. They had to reduce armor repair for it to work.

The Devs have a choice - Do nothing and risk losing lots of money and generating bad press; Gradually increase the cash cap, but not too much; or Dramatically reduce the cost of Armor Repair.
  8. Flavian Committed Player

    Ok, That's a welcome solution.

Your response is blatantly ignoring differences between legendary and premium.

    Legendary can do the following:
    1. Unlimited cash access - that means buying AH items for 2 MILLION. Premium users CANNOT do this.
    2. Legendary can send cash, and purchase massive upgrades and updates. They have no restriction on certain special gear increases.

I am asking for a progressive cap of $250 for each dlc, which would pay for armor repairs.

That is no where near comparable to other benefits Legendary users experience and enjoy.

If you honestly think that raising a premium cap to what, a possible 4,000 from 2,000 will do anything other than allow a premium player to repair, then you have no clue how many benefits you have as a legendary player, and you should not be apart of this discussion.

There is already an active thread on this topic....
    https://forums.station.sony.com/dcu...ad-ideas-to-solve-the-money-cap-issue.217801/

Your idea is very common and the one most often touted as a logic solution, the devs are likely very aware of the idea....

One of the more recent Cash-cap (credit cap) threads from just before Amazon Fury DLC launch is an interesting read even though it was mistaken information. It also shows the Devs commitment to holding the line on the $2000 cap - simply because the gear price was never intended to exceed $2000
    https://forums.station.sony.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/breaking-news-better-sub-up-now.200033/

The way the DCUO crew has decide to monetize the game is extremely fair. Perhaps in the future this model will change, but it will be to increase player retention and maintain profitability.

If a player plans on playing premium and wants to reach end-game content, they should expect to have to buy Escrow tokens along the way.

The developers have clearly stated their feeling on the topic. for example:
    https://forums.station.sony.com/dcu...-the-premium-cash.176978/page-23#post-2118218
"Unlimited cash is a perk of the Legendary Membership, and there are several marketplace options for the Premium player looking to take advantage of more in-game cash. Currently there are no plans for changes, though we do appreciate the feedback and discussion."

We do offer escrow withdrawals and the 7 day unlimited escrow unlock for Premium players who wish to take full advantage of the in-game economy. Unlimited cash is a feature of the Legendary Membership.

We are always looking for ways to improve the experience for all players, and that includes adding to and improving the membership. The way we're introducing Supergirl for Legends is just one example of that.
To the cash cap specifically, we recognize it's a major point of friction for non-members, and a major part of membership for members. We're open to ideas and solutions, so please continue to post yours. We are reading.

Over a year worth of threads and chances are anything written in this thread has been written before....
So, you need to try a unique argument that works for the Devs....not Premium vs Legendary. These threads should help you understand the history. I would encourage you to try the search feature on the website, in the future. Searching before creating a thread can save many newposters endless hours on the cash-cap hamster wheel or similarly over discussed topics.

When someone purchase a DLC it is a one time fee. The company made $10, fact. You pay for legendary the company makes a recurring $15 every month, fact.

Take buying a car. You go to a dealership and you find a basic model. It starts, it drives, its new. You pay your fee. BUT....if you spent more money you could get that same exact car with nicer rims, a better sound system, warranties, paint job...you name it. I can guarantee that no dealership will sell the best car they have on the lot for the same price as the basic model.

DCUO charges you $10 for a DLC so you have content to play, fact. They charge you $15 a month for a subscription fee to have access to said DLC at no extra cost PLUS access to all your money and extra perks, fact.

    That is marketing.

My friends in India, Mexico and Philippines cannot "go Legendary". They have been open about not purchasing more DLCs unless something makes raiding more accessible. Right now, repair costs are rising exponentially. DLC 12 will push them beyond Premium Limits.
  14. Flavian Committed Player

In previous posts, the Devs also were talking about people purchasing minor upgrades and equipment tiers.

The Devs never addressed rising repair costs.

Something which isn't in all of these threads you posted is that the repair cost for armor in DLC 12 is going to be very, very high. If the Devs wish to ignore the repair cost, they will find nothing but massive complaints about Premium users being unable to raid.

That will lead to a drop in sales for DLC13.
  15. Flavian Committed Player

Fact: Armor repair cost is rising, which will make it impossible for Premium users to enjoy the raids.

Fact: As of DLC 12 and 13 Premium users will be unable to use the content for which they spent money to play, this will lead to a player revolt.

Fact: A car is a necessity that is used to make money to live and work. A videogame DLC is not. That makes your comparison a false comparison.

Fact: Legendary Users experience far more benefits than a progressive premium increase in cash cap. In my scenario, a Premium User with DLC 10 would have a cash cap of 4,000. That in no way equals Unlimited Cash Access, Unlimited Legends Access, Unlimited Features Access, Unlimited Test Access.

Fact: If players are unable to play new content because of a design flaw the Devs insist on retaining, then it will generate BAD PRESS

Fact: BAD PRESS = less in sales.

Fact: something needs to be done or this game of 18 million registered users, and 1.8 "ACTIVE" monthly users will experience a massive hit - either minor increase, or armor kit repair will stave this off.
  16. FESTER665 Devoted Player

Or they could farm for a little, trade those exobits for stacks of EI's and repair....

Or use one of the many microtransactions in the marketplace.....

  17. TKMcClone Steadfast Player

The Dev address repair cost the same way they address gear costs .... keep it under $2000.
I think the Devs have a pretty good handle on the in-game economy and how it works for premium players.
If they need to change it they will change it...

    • Armor repair cost can be address in two way. Purchasing Legendary or purchasing Unlimited Escrow.

    • If the players actually revolted I would love to see this.

    • A video game DLC is not necessary to survive. My car to game comparison was only to show you how you paid for basic and you get basic.

    • Unlimited Test is only if you have a PC account. I play on the PSN. And as of right now, the only perk for me with legendary is my unlimited cash cap and dlc. I don't need things out of the lockboxes, I don't need to go in the vault everyday.

    • BAD PRESS do to flaws has nothing to do with raising a cash cap. BUT...less sales means the people who see the problems aren't buying the DLC, which is then not cause you any higher a Armor Repair Bill because you're not playing new content.
Other than your "bill" I don't see any reason to raise the cap when you can just purchase legendary or get escrow unlocks.

Unlimited Test Access isn't much of perk. They should be paying beta testers, not expecting us to pay for the 'privilege.'

"Unlimited" Legends Access is new, only applies to new Legends, and only appeals to people who actually play Legends.

Unlimited Features Access. What does that even mean? Does it mean we get "free" dlcs? Cuz a premium player can have that for a lot cheaper.

Unlimited Cash Access, many Legendary players barely use the broker and just pay to always have enough cash to repair and buy interfaces.
