NO SOURCE MARKS FOR END-GAME CONENT??!!

Making it optional defeats the purpose of the change. You might as well just remove it entirely. I've explained this.

Let me say what it would take for it not to break the purpose. You'd have to award no feats, no source marks, no equipment etc. on the unclamped version of it. The purpose of old content to end game users (previous to scaling equipment and source marks) is specifically for farming feats. So if you hand out feats in unclamped version... it will cut the playerbase running these instances significantly. At that point, you'd be running just for fun...and everyone here is saying these instances aren't fun for them anymore right?

Why does it? If I want to make a group to run old elite raids unclamped, why does that hurt anyone?

Dang, out of all the elite raids you finished one of the hardest even without a clamp? I was on one of the teams that ran the speed contest that the devs hosted a while back in there. We lost but in our defense, we didn't know we could skip cutscenes lol. Was still a blast and we had a tom of fun practicing every day prior.

But yeah, I get what you're saying. We were carrying 100% but we were accomplishing teaching in a controlled environment. They could still get one shot (as could we even at 100cr over cuz elite don't care) so it still had to be run correctly. Plus we got to show then what they would have to donif they chose to do the roles instead which they would eventually have to and we would be the burners on a seperate run. They've all become really good players and learnt not to use rainbow augs or sub par artifacts. Even just teaching people ways to farm and grind can make all the difference.

I'm on the fence about even logging in today but will send you am invite if I do or at least message the other league boss and get him to. He's in Hawaii so more of a west coast time player, I'm east coast. We meet up at 4pm on sundays for league runs. Prior to all this, I was 5pm to 7ish daily and on a lot on the weekends. Lots of new players added to the league lately, we don't force anyone to chat unless they're asking us to run specific content that requires it. Listening in for is fine tho. It's a relaxed but highly knowledgeable team with some good sister leagues to fill in spots of a group

Endgame content is still loot locked, while old content is not.

Then its lack of source marks should actually be minimal in impact to you. After all, resets being bought are similar to just buying source marks.

The op wasn't suggesting that endgame had infinite marks. If endgame hadn't changed and had the same source mark rewards (with the same daily/weekly locks), people would still do endgame for the marks, THEN do the old content if they wanted even more marks.

I really don't understand how people are not understanding this.

What if we don't want to run old content? I for one has done so many times now that it is boring. But this is my opinion and just me. Maybe a lot of people would like to visit old content and really like it

    Exactly

What if they let you convert end game currency (WV, Legion, and Wayne Coins) early, rather than give source + other currency? That way you’re not getting double but you have access to source if that’s your desire.

And as I've said 100 times before, if the clamp was supposed to provide 'fun' runs in old content, why do you need the marks?

If much or even 1/2 the community was enjoying the clamp as much as you guys report, that should still be plenty of people queuing up omni and clamped if you made it an option. The fact you admit people would stop running it shows how much you don't believe in it....except that it provides marks.

So let me get this right from all you pro clampers out there.
Old run, easy, no marks = no fun
Old run, hard, no marks = no fun
Old run, easy, marks = fun
Old run, hard, marks = fun

So the common denominator for fun/no fun is not the difficulty....it's the marks. So fun=marks. Got it. This passes on to the fact that endgame content is all but dead since the change....so again no marks, no fun, so people aren't playing it. So if I don't need marks, I will have no fun. I kind of think that's what most of us are saying.

See personally, I'd want to have 'fun' in all my runs, old and new. Not sure why you guys don't but it seems that way.

it was the only thing that motivated me to do the last instances after getting all the normal, elite and omnipotent stuff x)

Now no reason to do it x)

In fairness to Flashpoint, I think most are over it because by the episode model used…we should be moving on to the next area. Most are done the gear and feats and are probably just doing it daily as a habit. :)

That’s part of what I don’t get, and what I think some are bothered by…just that fact that this is an atypical episode and then isn’t a new area. Did it matter if you ran open world in flashpoint for source marks or open world in say JLD or Atlantis? Maybe all this freedom isn’t a good thing for those that need more direction (start threads on what to spam next…lol).

It’s just people want new stuff, and that’s ok.

Have you run Atlantis or JLD?

Terrible idea and it solves nothing - endgame is still dead to the community unless they restore source mark rewards - that's the problem!

Again just make endgame mark rewards exactly as they was before with daily/weekly locks, then people will do endgame again. Once that's exhausted people can do the "new" old crap if they want more.

They are setting a very dangerous precedent by not rewarding marks in endgame. If people don't see this they need to step back and think about it. The "elitest" players will swarm through any new DLC content, get their gear/feats and then drop it, leaving it a ghost town in a matter of days or weeks at best.

I've played all the old content a billion times before across 3 stints dating back to beta days and I'm bored stiff of it, I don't want to play old content again unless I choose to.

I get the community asked to make old content relevant again, but it seems the devs have delivered this in just about the worst, most polarizing way I can possibly imagine. I literally cannot think of a worse way they could have done this.

For the record I've run FOS3/DD, etc exactly ZERO times since HoL launched. For the first few days I did the dailies, realised I hated the DLC and subsequently cancelled my sub. I have ZERO interest in this type of content farming becoming the "meta game", so I won't contribute to the problem.

Then power run open world bounties or specific quick content like others do. After all, they cleared up 7-8 minutes of time (vault/stabilizers which were boring as crap) and there are instances that take that long.

Dang, well said. I hadn't even thought about it this way.
  17. Steamboat2302 Well-Known Player

You don't get marks, but you do get endgame currency for running new instances. So you still get currency. And I disagree that overly easy content, even rewarding marks is still fun. Its not. Its not even a game. Its just blindly hitting buttons.

Not sure on that. WV was about a year old last week before the clamp, and you'd see groups running FGS every day...so not 'over it'....you'd see patchwork spams a few times a week. Legion same thing...COU was run a lot, HQ a bit less so, but still run. Not sure I've seen any of these things being run the last week...not nearly as much as before.

And yeah it matters a bit. We ran JLD for like 7-8 months...Atlantis for a bit less time. I've only been running FP dailies since April 15, so slightly less time spent in there so far, and I didn't run them all every day...which helps with burnout. In FP I still need to close portals and knock out some princes...which I'd do 1 every few days if I saw a Tyrant going down(for the orbital chance), as groups were plentiful...less so now. I need nothing from JLD or Atlantis Open worlds except the marks(now)...if I were to go there. In FP I'm was getting Casino tokens too....so Source+Casino tokens > source only in JLD/Atlantis. It all boils down to time vs rewards...and it's not like I'm starving for source, but in the time I was spending running current content, I had a steady supply of source too....not as fast as FOS3 spams for sure, but at no extra time investment over what I was doing anyway. So yes...there is a difference.

I'd have to say - out of all the changes with this new DLC this one is the most pervasive and baffling.

Leave Source Marks End Game. Don't make it so obvious that end-gamers are being pushed to lower-end content.

The jury is still out, for ME at least - regarding the other changes with Stat clamping. Much of it is still confusing but I'm giving that a chance.

Point was that if there’s Wayne and Source in FP, then there’s double currency (basically 1 source now and 1 source once the episode is no longer current). That’s ‘incentive’ to run it over the other older stuff. Thought equalizing the mark payout would be a middle ground.
