1001 Ideas to Make Money For Owners And Make The Game Awesome

  1. Shakram1 Level 30

So since many players often share ideas with each others but the information never gets to the owners or developers I have created this thread to share ideas on how the game could improve in a variety of ways that would also be very lucrative for the owners.

Meaning ideas that could help everyone meaning help the owners make more money and ideas that we players may want to spend our money on.

The ideas in this thread could be things that the players would buy in the marketplace so there could be a tangible increase in profit for the game.

Also some ideas will be big changes to how the game is played meaning classes and leveling up but the changes will also allow players to buy things to that end.

This thread is only about ideas to make the game better through selling things in the marketplace so if there is another kind of conversation that you want to have to make the game better that doesn't include the marketplace please make another thread about it and derail this thread by discussing it here.

Ideas posted by me will be numbered and posted clearly so devs can see what the marketplace request is and a note on how lucrative the item could be.

This thread will also not really talk about removing things that are already there but just ad on items.
This is not an I don't like that idea thread it here to share your ideas. If you have an idea you think that you think could be sold in the marketplace by all means please do share.

If Owners like my ideas and make millions on them and want me as a part time consultant I have hundreds of ides like these lol.

    So lets start:
Idea number 1 (huge seller $10)
    Power Customization Pack
Players are always asking for powers so why not allow players to make their own for a price of course.
For players who want to create and customize their powers which has all of the classic powers of DCUO in it.
Meaning they can pick the shape color and visual effect of the power from existing already developed powers.
Of course the basic rules would be included and damage would be automatically assigned depending on what power the player chose.
Players get the basic templates to play around with.
Players also get the various power effects of all the powers currently available to work with.
As a bonus any material they have equipped could also be applied to the powers they shape.

Legends Powers($10 for whole pack or one characters powers for $1)
To spice it up add in all the legends powers as well to add to the templates.

    New Templates($5 for new updates)
Players can have groups of templates players can buy to work with in order to design their own powers.

    Idea number 2
    Legends Powers As Iconic Powers
(reasonable seller $1 per legends iconic character)
Allow players to purchase legends powers as iconic powers.
These powers belong in the iconic powers section.
Players can purchase them then put them on their loadout.
Players can use Banes powers in their loadout or Dr Fates sorcery powers for a price.

    Idea number 3
    Superpower Classes
Superpower games should be based on powers not necessarily exobits of nanotech so an idea is to phase in the ability to buy specialty classes like most RPGs have classes.
To legendary players giving one free class is suggested after that players can buy more if they like and want them.

These classes can represent different characters and be leveled up using something like xp.
Xp can be bought in the broker to level up your character class as well as farmed.

There should be no limit to the number of classes a character can level up on one character as each which would allow or a very diverse multiclass. This way the characters could keep leveling up new classes and increasing their characters customization.

    Selling point:
Class tokens(Big seller maybe $5 each class)
If you buy one your character can begin ranking up the new class shown on the broker
The more made by the developers the more players would want to buy them.

    Selling point
XP Leveling (Big seller maybe $1-$10 each class for players who want to speed level)
Passive buffs each class could improve things about the character similar to an artifact they get better with xp and get updated with new milestones so players would want to continue leveling them up with new developer updates.

    Special effects
Each multiclass can do some stuff for example assassins would do something ninja like every few seconds during combat that looked cool maybe have players assign which passive buffs they have activated for each of their classes. A kryptonian class could do some passive kryptonian stuff like a ground pound knocking things back or air hand clap.

Main point is these buffs would not interfere with an already cluttered loadout and would be passive effects. Meaning players wouldn't have t do anything during combat they would randomly go off during power rotation or be always active depending on which multiclasses players decided to buy.

It would add customization so if someone wanted a kryptonian based character they could pick some of the various kryptonian classes provided for example
Kryptonian invulnerability(gives armor, elemental resistances, and hp)
Kryptonian super speed (passive continuous buff to movement speed, visibly dodges in combat, increases attack speed of certain weapon attacks)
Kryptonian Eye beams (beams go off every few seconds when fighting can add various trick shots)

    Idea number 4
Origin power Farming (Hot Item $10)
Players should be able to have origin stories for how they got their powers and skills unique to them.
Origins should be special missions which give special powers and passive skills and abilities unique to that character origin.

    Origin Trees Tokens
XP Leveling (Big seller maybe $1-$10 each xp bundle for players who want to speed level)
By gaining multiple origins of similar or different types a character can create a story and make real origin choices in ones story which open different branches in the story.
For example there would be over 30 different types of pathways to unlock per origin tree and each time you buy an origin you may go down a different path to unlock new powers and skills. Each origin will stack with the previous making the character more powerful each time.

    Selling Point
Each origin tree begins a story from start to finish increasing the potency of pre selected buffs stacking them again.

    Selling point
Each origin should have a list of powers a player may unlock specific to the origin which will be buffs that powers and effects the player will receive for unlocking different paths of the origin as well as abilities.
These buffs should be improved with experience be permanent buffs.
For example a magic origin hero may gain certain abilities like random spells attack his opponent from the helm of Nabu or when blocking enemies take damage reflected in an explosive backlash.

    Cosmetic Selling Point
There should also be cosmetic effects to these origins that can be applied as a secondary accessory and aura. if a character has multiple origins these powers and visual effects may stack. However you couldnt gain the same aura or visual effect twice.

    A few origin ideas:
Human Ingenuity (Batman, Steel, Mr Terrific, Mr Freeze)
Physical Training (Robin, Green Arrow, Karate Kid)
Magically Bestowed or Cosmic Bestowed (Shazam)
God or Demigod (New God Orion, Donna Troy )
Alien on earth like Martian (Manhunter, Superman, Dawnstar)
    Mutant (Chemical King, Kid Flash)
Found artifact (Blue Beetle, Green Lantern, Dr Fate)
Evolved Human (Beast Boy, Raven, Ultra Humanite, Vandal Savage)
    Experiments (Giganta, Metamorpho)
    Augmentation (Deathstroke)
    Accidents (like clayface, Joker,)

    Idea number 5
    Gear & Loot Items
$1 Special gear Detector(Raises chance of getting special powered gear drops)
$1-$3 Socket Device (Puts powers salvaged into gear maybe creates 3 more sockets once inserted)
$1 Gear Books/ Random Plans Never get the same plan twice(Plans can make specific powered gear or suits of synergised gear )

    How it works
The loot system needs to be reworked so that players can get rewards current to their level for running old content.
A difficulty meter should be there for both open world and tier instances whenever a boss is fought which gives a chance to drop specific special gear and items.

Never The Same Map With Random Dungeon Generator
Instances and walk ins should have a random dungeon generator so instances are never the same maps twice.

Dozens Of New Walk In Areas in Every Area Of DCUO
New walk in areas which randomly generate maps and bosses with high frequency bosses and mobs.
Making it possible to have overlap of bosses and mobs!

    Bosses And Mobs Everywhere!
Also bosses and mobs of enemies should roam the open world randomly with a very high frequency.

Add a Difficulty Meter For All Content
A difficulty meter should be able to make the game more challenging for hardcore gamers. With higher difficulty will come higher rewards.
There should be around 100 levels of difficulty and players should have to play through a mission log to unlock the next level.
This makes players go back and play the game again doing old missions at much higher difficulty in order to unlk the higher rewards.

For example Developers create hundreds of pieces of gear that each have their own special powers and abilities and put this gear through the old content as well as in new content. make it so the gear can drop anywhere whether open world or in instances.
Players collect this gear and refine it saving the powers of the gear in order to socket the powers into other gear.

Idea Number 6 ($10 perhaps a good seller)
    Customizable Sidekicks!
Choose sidekicks gender powers role and customize their style.
Also make a legends character your sidekick.
Sidekicks that are always there like a pet on ones loadout!
    Gain multiple sidekicks

Yes, keep all the ideas in one single thread to make it easier for the devs to ignore.

Heres the thing alot of us have shared ideas but its fallen on deaf ears for last 10 years so we just dont bother anymore with giving ideas.
  7. Shakram1 Level 30

    Idea Number 7
    Multiple Roles(Jack of all trades)

Selling point Augments that allow your character to function as multiple roles.
($20 Very Hot Item Jack of all trades augment which allows gear to be leveled up)
(Hot item $1-$10 buy xp for gear)
($1 XP boosters gain more xp for an hour)
Players could buy xp and xp augments for their gear to help level it up rather than farming gear to salvage and feed their gear.
The idea is to allow players to infuse their gear with multiple sets of gear at the same time.
So gear itself would have up to 4 roles and when it got fed it would rank up the desired role.
With the jack of all trades augment players could play as all roles at the same time meaning they could Tank Heal Troll and DPS

While I have always heard that there are 'no bad questions', there are possibly some bad ideas. Pretty much everything you listed would require a lot of programming (costomizable powers...sidekicks?) with very little return. The prices would either need to be outrageous or things would be a lot less customized. About the only one I see as happening is you could maybe see someone being able to have a legend's powerset. The powers and animations are already in the game, and Ideally could be assigned to a player character. Who would use such a thing? Not sure, but that one...maybe.

Hopefully the other 994 ideas are more realistic.

    Idea Number 8
    Legendary Levels
With legendary levels players never stop getting more powerful it gives players a reason to keep playing and leveling up.

Hot Selling Item $1 per level
New Legendary Level System With Infinite 50,000 level goalpost can be raised by devs if needed for super hardcore gamers.
    Xp bosters $1 each

    Selling Point
Players can level up a sets of Legendary attributes each time they gain a level.
Players Gain 1 point per level
    These levels can be purchased

This leveling system supports the previous difficulty setting with 30-50 or so levels of difficulty for elite hardcore gamers.
Players would need a certain level of legendary power to survive a new difficulty level.

    Selling Point
Players legendary abilities are as important or even more important than gear
When we look at comic book heroes they're abilities power levels ar not based on gear they wear but their innate abilities.
For example superman has powers that make him stronger not due to his gear.
Anywhere the players played they would get xp for defeating enemies.
Lesser enemies on easier difficulty players get less xp for defeating and stronger enemies would have higher xp on higher levels of difficulty.

    Selling Point
This system encourages players to set the game settings to higher difficulty and start the game over again and again to reach the next level.
Players need a way to go back and enjoy replaying the game and this leveling system gives them a reason to go back rather than always waiting for a new DLC with nothing to do.

    Random Map/Dungeon Generator & Walk In's
With a random dungeon generator and making all instances walk ins it opens the game to new levels of fun.
The maps will never be the same just the same theme and randomize the bosses and adds so they also are new every time.

Typical Legendary Abilities Gained Per Level
    Intelligence/ Xp boost
    Constitution/ Health
    Strength/ Melee Damage
    Agility / Dodge Skill
    Ranged Weaponry
    Attack Speed
    Movement Speed
    Dodge Chance
Charisma / the ability to grant buffs which inspire allies
Will Power (resist compulsions stuns etc)
Stealth (to sneak and be attacked less)
    Gold / Cash Gain
Luck Treasure Find(Special Weapons and Gear)
    Health regeneration
    Health per hit
    Health per kill
    Power cost reduction
    Damage Bonus
Invulnerability defence vs cold/fire/electric/quantum/mental etc etc
Invulnerability defence vs melee damage and ranged physical damage
Etc Etc Devs could keep on adding new abilities as they updated the game with new patches

    Selling Point
Every ten levels players can select a special ability from a list of legendary feats.
Some feats would have requirements in order to select them for example a kryptonian battle cry that buffs allies and causes enemies to be knocked down that goes off every 30 seconds couldn't be purchased without first having some other kryptonian racial heritage feats.
The same feats could be bought again and again to improve their effectiveness.
Legendary feats would be abilities similar to passive buffs unique to your character here are a few examples:
Rending melee weapons deal damage over time
Fast Healing your wounds heal themseles
    Damage Reduction
Great strength punch ground every 30 seconds knockback enemies
Power enhancement single target powers damage foes with damage over time
Leadership gain a special customizable sidekick
Teleport or dodge out of harm's way rather than being hit by death causing hit
    Trapfinding ability to see traps
Toughness your harder to kill extra hp
Omega Eye beams deal more damage
    Etc Etc

    Idea Number 9
Allow for the buying of all old content rewards and old items.
    Super Hot Items
    $1 for individual styles
$10 for the whole style set
$1.25 one star feat $2.50 two star feat $5 three star feat
$1 For an old briefing or collection
$5 for sets of collections and briefings
$10 For material and aura collections

    Selling Point
Alot of old collections, briefings, and investigations, feats, styles, base items, trinkets, auras, materials etc are very difficult for players to get.

By allowing players to buy the items on the market place it eases the tension with the high risk low reward that drove many players away.

This could be a huge source of revenue for the new owners for casual players who want their characters to be cool but dont have the time to invest in grinding out every feat and base item of the last 30 DLCs.
It also allows players to get items without the gamble of not getting an item they wanted.
Alot of players would be more willing to buy an aura for $10 rather than a chance to get an aura with ten time capsules.

I've always wanted to have a base pet that leaves your base and collects exobytes, collections, and other items while you're offline.

Seriously, replace the sidekick and give us a harmless pet as well!

I've thrown this out a few times over the last decade: in-game advertising over existing ingame billboards.

Instead of every billboard and Soder machine being ads for fictional DC products, make those surfaces adjustable for monthly real-world advertisements. Some zones would be a little more of a challenge for making them fit in (looking at you, Themyscira) but many could be done with variations of computer screens or billboards. This brings in extra revenue onto mainly existing structures without being obnoxious (ie: popups) and without taking that cash out of the pockets of players.

Back in the early days of EQ they had a deal with either Dominos or Pizza Hut (can't remember, all I know is it wasn't available in my rural area) where you could type /pizza and it would bring up a special window where you could order a pizza without having to log out of the game (EQ probably got a little % from that).

Or how about during the loading screens on the way out of an instance for those who do not have a membership? On the way in, unless they are 5 seconds or less (or maybe a still image instead of the standard loading screens for that) you run the risk of holding up members when entering an instance... the whole idea being that "membership takes away advertisements" in the same way a lot of other services do it. On the way out of an instance you're not holding anyone up.

In terms of the "/pizza" command, perhaps you could do something with Grubhub where you can get a menu of things you set up as a fast or repeat order.

Oh man, this is probably a can of worms legally and technically to allow someone else's content to go into the game. There have been some companies that have acted as middle men to help games do this and serve appropriate ads.

I'm pretty sure DC would have thoughts on this as well.

Wow so you're giving out warnings to anyone who's even remotely negative towards the devs? Doesn't that make the conversation a little one-sided and defeat the purpose of a forum? Geez. As if I needed any more reasons to stop playing your game.

They tried refining power interactions a while back. If memory serves it got more and more complicated as more new powers were added. This is also part of what hampered them with PVP (new powers being added would be either OP or UP in PVP eventually kicking off a new round of balance attempts).

No, I think you miss the concept that if you're going to make suggestions the devs want something that is constructive. It's like filing a bug report. "X doesn't work. Fix it!" Well, what do you mean by "doesn't work"? The error could be anything from an actual bug to a misunderstanding to a willful failure to perform certain functions (what your Helpless Desk will call a PEBKAC error). If all you are going to do is complain, of course it will fall on deaf ears. They can't act on emotional complaints. They can only act on facts... and sometimes the action they have to take is to ignore it because of legal or other reasons. When you make constructive comments, provide constructive feedback, give good details on bug reports, etc., then the devs can actually take a real look at it and decide if it is something they can act on.

The warning they attached to those posts is more like a "Wrong Way" sign you see on the road... trying to tell people to not go down that path. Is it harsh? I don't know. I didn't tack on the warning.
