Too Many Vendors

Just had a leaguemate who is a casual player buy off the wrong vendor and got retribution gear instead of psycho jester. Now I pushed for purple gear to be added to the vendor but when they put out so many vendors does that create confusion? Would retribution gear be better served on the rare style vendor. Basically she went to the elite vendor saw it was the wrong one and ran up to the retribution vendor missing the regular psycho jester vendor. I can easily see how this could happen to less veteran players.

It doesn’t help that a “daily planet intern” doesn’t exactly scream GET YOUR PRIMARY EPISODE GEAR HERE.

I would assume that an *intern* would be carrying the event gear if anything.

At least the soda/repair gear is a vending machine this time so I don’t have to go around talking to everyone until I find the guy that’ll actually fix my damn gear.

I like it better this way. It's less scrolling

As whitecell mentioned, scrolling through a ton of items is a pain. I think they need to revamp the vendors though and organize items better. Though my playing is sporadic nowadays, but I feel like they did reduce some of the armor vendors in the bases. Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember back in the day going around to all the various vendors in the Watchtower to try and understand who sold what, especially the tier armor and stuff.

This is at the mission hub of the new dlc. Feel bad for her as this means she is going to have to end up missing out on getting some stuff and she is a huge Birds of Prey fan.

What is she going to miss out on? The episode is permanent.

She has health issues that prevent her from playing as much as the rest of us. But you bring up a great point that eventually she will be able to use source marks to get those accessories they add. :)

Don't forget about Triple and Double mark weekends.

I think having multiple vendors specialising in different item categories is a good thing.

That's not to say there's no room for improvement:
they all use the same interaction icon ⇩ and we could use some new ones to differentiate them from each other!

The Marketplace-substitute vendor is a good example of having a unique icon that demonstrates its purpose:

....? the retribution gear is purple? thats didnt send out any warning signs to them? you also cant preview it and it costs less then the raid gear.

I do have to admit it is a little confusing... Warp into the BOP rooftop operation center (??? I don't know is that a good name for it LOL) and you discover 3 different vendors. Now I suppose I can understand a bit this helps cut down on scroll time by not trying to have all of that stuff on one huge menu... But can anyone explain exactly why on top of a trio of vendor we have a soda machine? Not a single vendor gives a player the option to repair damage? Remember back in the "old days" when you bought your soda and repaired damage from the same guy you bought gear from?

Thing is guys this is not exactly new. We had multiple vendors including a separate repair bot in Thanagar. Same can be said about Metal Gotham except the repair bot is replaced by yet another soda machine and same is true of Chaos Gotham.

Psssst… blame it on a couple things

first part in every one of those at some point they were all events as well so ONE vendor selling the unattuned stuff to any player from between 10 and 15 level and up and another selling the stuff designed for the DLC.

next add in the Elite missions so now we have one vendor selling Regular dlc gear and another selling ELITE mission gear

next add in the DLC arifacts now available for purchase in each new DLC.

NOW imagine trying to scroll through all that to find what you want to actually buy if it was all in one vendor's list of available goods.

It would be nice if they were labeled better so we all don't have that moment where we are running around in circles trying to find the right vendor to click. Hey Maybe they could all stand there folding a cardboard sign saying what they sell. JUST design them all to look like street people trying to get enough cash to buy a cup of coffee. :D

Vendors need sub category sections to seperate the long lists of base item , armor , weapon , misc(styles , trinket and uplinks) , craft (catalyst , mods and aug) seasonal vendors are especially need sorting.

Honestly, I like the breakdown into three different vendors and think this was quite the brilliant move. The vendor where you purchase the purple gear is also the same vendor you find in the WT/HOD by the teleporter to go into the open world area. This means it is accessible by everyone, even if they are incapable of entering the content outside of event mode, and it contains stuff that anyone can purchase regardless of CR, including base items. Splitting the main vendor and the elite vendor is a smart thing to avoid having to scroll through lots of stuff just to get to your elite gear... this means that the only things in the elite vendor are items related to the OP item and the elite gear itself. The other one contains all gear of the same level... whether it's the main 8 pieces of gear or the other items (weapon, face, neck, rings, utility belt, buff trinket), as well as other general purpose DLC items that can only be obtained by someone who is of an appropriate CR for the content.
