Electric a Why Try DPS

    I know I did some range testing that I think Sore used. I did not use Brawling but Staff (I liked the clip better) but don't think I got as good results for melee.

    With a straight power spam loadout out (my preferred playstyle) I got an average of 19.5k to 20.5k with a cr of 126. I cannot remember if it was modded or not. I think modded. Without mods I remember 16.5k to 18.5k. Have not played on test since gu50 so I cannot remember exact numbers. I have a vid of the 19.5-20.5 but in it I did not show gear or mods. That is of course at range. Again this is my preferred style.

    The way sore was testing was pretty specific. Only max damage could be used and your precision and might were 2796 and 8255. It was pretty much a test-server only thing. I'm curious what your rotation was though.
    thanks for the response. I've tried brawling and hand blaster, but not staff, shield, or martial arts.

    I am a fan of Staff actually . I used to like it for tanking prior to everything needing lunges. I am just not a fan of it's lunge.

    I've said in other posts how ridiculous it is to include melee weapon damage in the electric dps numbers for Tunso testing. Not fair to electric when other powers don't need the weapon damage to reach their max. All other powers can use melee weapon attacks too. It's actually penalizing electric to include them.

    I feel that the baseline damage for all powers should be based on no weapon damage. All powers can use weapons equally, so everyone can feel free to use handblasters solar flame or dual wield throw. Measure the baseline without weapons, and allow players to mix in weapon attacks to their rotation as they see fit.

    I have been electric since the first day it was released and even though it's my favorite power it's the worst dps power I have a toon for every power so Im sure of it. Its insane how long this power has been ignored. The last buff was a sad attempt. Hopefully one day they give it a proper fix. I've been loyal to the power been waiting years for a proper fix.

    I know how Sore was testing...I helped with the fire aspect but could not help with the Electric because of how I lay (do not use weapons so I would have been a poor example of paring them with the correct weapon clips) Here is a vid of my rotation on both 3 and 8 targets.

    I'm about to expose my Electric ignorance here. Why keep Electrogenesis on cooldown? Doesn't Voltaic bolt extend the electrocharge?

    I should have known that if we took your name in vain enough you'd show up in this thread! ;)

    Thanks for posting. I searched for electric results, but all I found was Penryn's report using brawling.

    On the test server just now I managed to get 20k dps using staff 3-tap 2-hold, MA smoke bomb, and Shield with a few different moves. Never quite hit 21k, but I didn't try dual wield (hate DW) and maybe you're just better at clipping than I am. Brawling I could only get 19k from.

    No worries...it does not make sense to keep it on cool down but after others asking and several tests all I can say is that it is a dps loss not keeping it on cooldown. I keep it that way simply because you never know when more adds will come in during a boss fight and I like to hit them with it asap. However Vb does spread the charge so it should not make a difference. It does though. It is about a 2k dps difference on the high end and a 1k on the low end.

    I know there is a ton of problems with electric but it is not limited to just the dps side. One galvanize should have a knock back effect of 3m increase the over time ticks of healing and it's pi should buff all heals while active.
    2. Tesla ball is not apart of the am for dps so make it apart of healing as well as damage in healer role. Arc lightning electrified everything now so if enemies are electrified have them give off a hot like 3lectroburst or just have it do hot and dot for 400 to 800 ticks per target make Elect4ic healers different from all others we don't have pets or song hots so make us do more burst then or damage as well as heal

    This post and all the others that claim Electric's DPS is ok, do not know what they are talking about, and probably do not play Electric at all.

    The electro charge power interaction stacks DOT's over an extended period of time. It's not damage over time, it's damage over ttttttiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmeeee. These DOT's have to be stacked to maximize damage, casting and recasting successive powers. The time to set the dots is close to 10 seconds, the amount of time it takes for these dots to do the job is just as long. One of the problems is, Electro genesis' cool down is to long . By the time you activate the power interaction, the people using Ice, Fire, Mental, Earth, Sorcery and Celestial have already sent the target to the bone yard. The damage from electrocute is anemic.
    It does not work well in solo's, duo's and alerts. You can solo dps desecrated cathedral, but it takes so long, the rest of the team wants to kick you After the first boss. Raids with lots of recurring adds and boss' with high health are the only place in the game where you have a chance to contribute to the burn.
    The Highest crit totals listed by the OP are right on the money.
    I think the Dev's need to take another look at the DOT power interaction form of DPS.

    You're absolutely right.

    You can speed things up by running with electroburst-- but that doesn't solve everything. The main problem is when adds die and you no longer have electro charges out there to spread. Fire, Ice and Gadgets all have a PI that they apply to themselves, and have to refresh. Electric has to keep the charge alive out there. Not a big deal in boss fights. A big old pain in every other case.

    The other problem with solo content as electric that I'm finding is that you can't narrowly direct your attacks, and wind up spreading electro charges to new sets of adds before you're done dealing with the old ones. You're aggro-ing everything like a tank. Except, you know, you're not a tank.

    i think electric need a FULL rework with combo power and DoTs.
    I have a rework idea
    (DoT got duble dmg by the new DoT) You give 1 DoT 2.500 dmg, next 2 DoT 5.000 dmg, next 3 DoT 10.000 dmg, next 4 DoT 20.000 dmg, next 5 DoT 40.000 Dmg(that is the max DoT by cr 130-140) if the DoT have maxed than is 1 DoT a re(dot)buff(also a tick is 40.000 the Time have a reset) and ticking longer with 40.000 dmg. A tick comes all 1.25 seconds long, no clip, no woaponmastery buff the dmg and the time is 3.75 seconds long(for maximum 3 ticks). If u need more time as 3.75 seconds than the DoT got a reset and u start by 1 DoT (the dots can crit and got +110%-140% dmg the chance max by 25% not higher)

    You can DoT 3 adds with no dmg reduction if u DoT more than is the dmg -25% to 5 adds more as 5 -40% and you can max dot 8 adds.
    And electricity can not steal or unbuffed or debuffedd the DoT from other electircity power if they are 2 or more in a team(what by all other power it is)

    I think than is the dmg by 25.000-30.000 dmg per second not more by 10.000 dmg

    I'm not sure a combo set is the answer. Electric should stack with each other making it stronger with each stack there have removed some of the stacking from 6 to 3 on somethings years ago. A revamp to balance it with all the stuns and knock backs or dazing needs to be incorporated the pi was completely destroyed a while ago. Plus electric seems to be last on the list for midrange revamp. If that's the case then update more then just the footstomp to midrange include a knock back in some of the moves similar to the push back of the shield have arc lightning stun better plus factor in the pi growing in strength with each charge effect

    I appreciate all the work you have contributed for Tunso testing, but I really disagree with the devs saying they need to look at weapons first. All powers can use the same weapon attacks as electric. Everyone can use HB solar flame, scissor kick, or dual wield throw. I feel that it is BS to say weapons need to be done before DoT powers. Just another way to punish electric powers with more delays. I don't want to rely on weapons for my damage (yes I know they can account for 30% of my damage, unfortunately), so it's not fair for weapon attacks to be used for electric damage baselines because all powers can use weapons.

    I understand the devs need time to redo electric or add some mid range, so all I'm really asking for is that they give us the damage hotfix promised back in GU 50. Just increase all the damage we have now, and work on the revamp later.

    well, the fact of the matter is the devs haven't said what percentage of Electricity damage should be done by powers vs. Weapons. Unlike tray powers, you have to balance 2 separate mechanics. It makes no sense to temporarily make Electricity OP to back it down later. Devs have said they want to avoid that. GU 50 was flawed and the devs have acknowledged that and are trying to correct that, starting first with the low hanging fruit.
