I'm getting something a little weirder. I downloaded the game and got the 2 DLs, one roughly 7.5 and one for 5 GBs. I can get to the character select screen and when I choose a character it says I need to DL the rest of the game. I then go to the bottom tray, click options for DCUO and go to information. Apparently stuff is still downloading behind the scenes as I have another 15 GBs to go.
From what I'm seeing they've done away with the DL screen, its all in the background now so you can still use your PS4 while DC is running.
That is correct, you can DL in the background. You can also install in the background, ie do other stuff while installing instead of stare at the boring install screen with no progress bar (there is a progress bar on the game's XMB icon) Action shot :
Honestly, I have no idea. It says install 22GB , but shows the 2 big DLs at around 13 total. PSN was having major cramps and Service Unavailable kicks to the bottom of the menu kept hampering any navigation outside an actual game (now called apps). The DCUniverse Online Is Now Ready to Install notice kept popping up, even during the installation.
Was anyone actually expecting a smooth launch? What in this game has lead you to believe this would be the case?
We are looking into the errors above. For those wondering about how the PS4 download works... Once you start downloading DCUO, you'll have two downloads running: The main game (~7gb) The day-one patch (~5gb) Once those are downloaded, you can play the game in PlayGo mode Gameplay essentially limited to character creation, the tutorial, and safehouse The rest of the game will continue to download in the background
The smooth beta lau...oh wait At launch the game ran sm...nope The months after launch there were no hic...oh At least they solved the freez...no But when they put out updates, nothing is ever messed... umm... Well, the forums are running kinda smoothly?
Thanks Mepps. It feels like you just got into work and found this little mess sitting on your desk for you. Hang in there and good luck, bud. Looking forward to seeing this game as it's meant to be played.
Took me about 30-45 minutes, granted I was watching South Park re-runs at the time. 20 down, 10 up. Also, don't do like I did and think you accidentally downloaded the game twice and try and delete one of the downloads because you think it's slowing you down. I was about a fifth of the way through when I did that. Smh.
If you are currently unable to connect with your PS4, please send me a conversation with your IP address if you have it. Please do not post it in this thread. (Click my name to the left, then start a conversation.)
