These are events that I rarely see threads about, but if you have any ideas for these celebrations, post them here!

A good idea for items that would go perfectly with the Summer Fireworks Festival would be to have the following items.. either as recipes or bought from a festival merchant..

    *fruit salad bowls
    *watermelon platters
*chilled lemonade glass pitcher (with ice cubes and lemon wedges floating in it ;))
*glasses filled with lemonade (matching the pitcher)
*small bowls with a scoop of flavored ice shavings (much like the Bowl of Party Dip but instead of the sauce you get a ball of ice)

You listed the things I've already asked for in other threads! I just finished a Beach themed house and kept bemoaning the fact that there were no Tall Glasses of lemonaide!

Different colored shaved ice, like the different colored candies you can make for Frostfell; very Hawaiian/tropical. :)

On watermelon:whole ones, slices with bites missing (like the Goblin-Tasted Apples), watermelons with taps like for ale barrels (for those "spiked" ones), etc. ;->

More fresh salads in general, veggie as well as fruit...gives us more reasons to have all those cabbages (bowls of coleslaw!). More veggies/fruit in general; seasonal (tomatoes, cukes, zucchini [that can be sized! who among us hasn't had baseball bat-sized ones in our gardens in RL?], etc.), you get the idea. ;->

The Red and Gold Hanging Baubles from Frostfell make perfect hot dogs in buns, if you can get them to lie flat (a big if) with the red facing up and hide the hanging bit with the mistletoe (though maybe that could be "relish" for another hot dog further down the line). "Stack" them end to end, so the end bits are hidden, too. Remember: you heard it here first! ;->

Absolutely no Summer Fireworks this year?

::sigh:: Think everyone was gearing up for the big "EQ3!!1! Ignore all the other EQ games out there and buy this one!!1!!!" presentation at SOE Live... :-/

who remembers when it used to be called Fan Faire...

No festival? That is absolutely crappy. I mean.. really? Things have really been going downhill over the last year. Very sad. Have they said why?

Cynical as it is, I like my theory. :-(

  9. Absyntheea Well-Known Member

Yeah.. seems that way. The effort for events has felt spotty since.. oh.. last NOTD..

Were you 'round to get 'em last year...

And I really can't understand why they can't activate the fest... Really? How hard is it to flip a frakin' switch?? <--- is getting very angsty with the comp'ny she's givin' lotsa ,moneys to.

I was, but didn't know the Festival existed until it was too late. :-(

    Absolutely! >:-|

Should be automatic, or literally have trained hamsters go for a Rodent Yummy to flip it. :-/

It reminds me a lot of various TV networks, who when they don't like a series but it seems to be getting a "cult" following, will shift it around all over the schedule, and then whine that it doesn't have any viewers, so they might as well kill it. :-/

I actually pondered about the festival on Twitter the other day, and Kaitheel responded:
@Cyliena:I wonder if the Summer Fireworks Festival is returning. Not seeing it on the in-game calendar.
@kaitheel: Nope. The calendar is accurate.
@Cyliena: @kaitheel Bummer! Always thought it was a short, cute event. :)
@Taysa_Gray: @kaitheel @Cyliena Is there a reason the Summer Fireworks Festival isn't returning this year?
@kaitheel: @Taysa_Gray: @Cyliena The Fireworks Festival isn't up to the standards of the other live events. Felt time was better spent on content.

Ummhmm. I.E. They didn't want to put any effort into it so they are just flat out not having it this year. Their lack of attention to festivals..(Oh.. I'm sorry... with exception to the marketplace stuffs) Is seriously making me consider of sony needs any more of my money. Like I have said in multiple places... it seems that a lot of the effort is going to the marketplace and a lot of other things are being ignored. /shrug...I mean.. fests have gotten the shaft before... but being skipped entirely. Unthinkable.

Yeah; why don't they let US decide if it doesn't live up to the other events? They could do a poll on that... ;->

Just double-checked and at least it's not one of the events you have to do for the Festive Spirit achievement. Not sure why they couldn't have just turned on last year's content. Of course, people would just complain about there being nothing new, etc.

But, luckily, I've got loads of those firework launchers already.

Sigh, lucky you...I was hoping that's why Tinkerfest was yanked off Test early, so that we could test the Fireworks Festival. :-/

And I'm not sure how many folks would complain, considering it didn't seem to be exactly touted; how well attended was it, does anyone know? Hey, execs: you can't sell something, from a TV series to an event, if the potential customers don't know about it. :-/

The Summer Fireworks Festival never changed between the first and second years in my recollection. It was just something quick and fun to do; really don't recall anyone ever expecting something spectacular from it. Though I'm understanding of Kaitheel's reasons for not making changes to it, I am surprised that it wasn't re-enabled in its original variation. Maybe I'm getting old and grumpy.. I find myself looking more forward to shorter events than the ones that have become huge and bloated. I'm at the point of loving Frostfell for what it is, but hating it for how long it takes to go through the experience every year. ;)

Hey, for me, the longer the merrier, with Frostfell. I spend waaay too much time there just on crafting with 36 toons; if we had the ability to craft the FF stuff the way we do everything else, I'd be a happy camper. :-/

Who was it who referred to the Crafting Island up on Everfrost, where they had stations for everything? They'd suggested we have FF stations there, and only shut them down during Frostfell, if people insisted on "keeping the specialness of that lovely time" (feh; the best way to honor FF, or any RL winter holiday of joy and giving, is to keep its spirit in one's heart year-round). Plus, we'd still have to go to the Village for the materials (if we didn't have 100s of them from prior years), we'd still have to go there for the daily stuff, we'd still have to go there for the quests, we'd still have to go there to get our stuff from the gobbo merchants, we'd still have to go there for the fuels (again, unless we'd stockpiled from prior years /raise_paw), etc., etc., etc. Whoever it was, was brilliant. :)

The Everstorm crafting island for the Frostfell stations was my idea. I miss that island. :(

I asked Kaitheel about the fireworks, and he said he removed it because there it wasn't up to the standards of other holidays, and not enough for all play styles, and there were complaints about having to use the marketplace for the quest.

I understand the devs not having time for everything, and spending time on year-round content instead of content that's only here for four days a year, but all they have to do is activate the event. If running around collecting shinies isn't your thing, don't do it. Spend your time raiding, or RPing, or doing dungeons, or whatever else you like to do.

They spend plenty of time on hard-mode raids, even though it's a very small portion of the player base that ever gets to see that content. So why can't we have a short holiday event that already exists?

Because hard-mode raids are flashier and the folks who focus just on that are generally noisier, even if there may be less of them here. :-/

Hopefully, we'll get to see the holiday back again next year. :)

To Absyntheea: your mailbox was full, but I just wanted to say, thank you SO much for your mail!! I am continually blown away at how wonderful the folks are in EQ2. It's such a great community. If there's anything I can do for you, let me know. :)
