Severe Frame Rate Issues During Raids After DX11 Patch

During raids tonight I was having severe frame rate issues. It seemed like the issue was only present when swarm pets were engaged on the mob. Prior to the event start and as soon as the event was over frame rates returned to normal as all the swarm pets stopped attacking. Moving away from the swarms helped but isn't possible in some raids. This wasn't an issue at all before the patch.

I'm not positive it was swarm pets but that's what it seemed like since there are no issues pre/post raid in the middle of 54 players or in guild lobby with large numbers of people.

Haven't been on a raid yet, but even alone in Abysmal Sea framerate has dropped noticeably while looking away from the ship...something is definitely wrong here.

In the dark, no one can see your frame rate drop...

...pretty sure that's the new advertising tag line.

Everything seems great to me. More fluid, even.

Probably going to need to provide specifics, computer specs, driver versions, etc.

In my case it looks like it was the new chat filter changes added in the patch. Setting all those to "Hide" under the options screen Chat tab resolved my issue. Especially hiding "Others Hits (Critical)" seemed to have the biggest impact.

I had also made a number of graphic changes that didn't seem to do anything so not ruling out it was a combination but as soon as I set those new chat filters to Hide things improved immediately in the middle of the raid.

Maybe this can help someone else with the same issue.

Yep, it is absolutely horrendous on some raids, and very definitely a new thing since this disaster of a DX11 update.

Some of the new chat filter settings do not offer a Hide option. I can send them to a hidden window but my client now must still receive them and add them to the Log. As a result, there is a lot more traffic between the server and the client and a lot more items added to the log file. I have Logging on because during raids I use GINA and cannot raid without GINA.

I know the Devs said that having a Hide option for Chat is a lot more work for them. However, making the game unplayable for people will make people quit and then the Devs will have no work at all.

There seems to be no way at all to not get this:

This is just a small sample of the MASSIVE increase in packet traffic and logging because of the chat filter changes made on January 17. There is zero reason I need to see every single player in the raid's damage they are doing.

EDIT: Apparently, there may be a way to Hide this. You see, the Options > Chat has five entries:
    • DoTs (Other Critical Hits
    • DoTs (Others)
    • DoTs (You Being Hit)
    • DoTs (Your Critical Hits)
    • DoTs (Yours
Of them, you can't Hide any of them.

However, there is also an entry which I missed, Damage Over Time, which you can set to Hide, Mine Only, Group Only, Show. So it appears I can hide DoTs. It just isn't under DoTs, but Damage Over Time.

A group of five players in view now feels like a lag pile of 20+ in the lobby. Raids are a whole other story. Preemptive explanation: My computer is not slow. My log files are not large. My drivers are not out of date. I don't use third party anything. Performance was great before the patch. Performance is great in other games.

I am experiencing this problem and have been unable to resolve it. I am suddenly dropped to 5 FPS in raids, which started about a week ago. I have tried a lot of things to correct this with no resolution. This seems to have something to do with drawing player models. For instance, on Brigadier Swarm, my FPS increases significantly when the raid moves to the aura, and it tanks when I move to the raid. Another example is that if I am in the GH, 3rd person, not nose in the wall but the direction of the wall, I am at 60 FPS. If I spin around and face the room, I drop to 20 FPS with 20-30 people there and no moving or casting.

    I deleted my log file
    turned off logging
    updated my drivers
change EQ properties to run as admin
changed eq properties to disable full screen optimization
ran cmd prompt sfc and fixed a bad file
fixed my indexer so it's not running
turned almost all my EQ settings to minimum, have no disabled luclin models
only 5 in game audio triggers in use

    8700k
    GTX 1060
    32 gb RAM
    running at 60c temps
below 50% CPU and 30% GPU
    EQ is at 2560x1440

This feels like it is a rendering issue. My tells go through immediately even if my FPS are 2. And again, yes, I updated my video drivers. And again, this started about a week ago. This was not like this when Dx11 launched. Nothing I can think of has changed in my system. I don't use this PC for pretty much anything but EQ so it's highly doubtful its a malware issue.

What memory mode are you running your client(s) in? Make sure you're running in high memory mode if not. If that doesn't help you may have to go with a custom Memory.ini.

I'm not sure which setting you are talking about. Is this the one under Advanced Display options? I am running that setting on balanced.

    Been doing some reading...

I checked the affinity on my processes and it seemed like everry instance of EQ was using it's own processor. Still, I went into my numerous eqclient.ini and changed CPUaffinity0=0 to -1.

Do I need to add this line?
    ClientCore=-1

I found it strange that I had eqclient.ini without a character, and then another for about half, but not all of my characters.

I wont know if this helps until the next time I can raid...

If I delete my eqclient.ini files, will it just remake them with all defaults?
