Yes they need to let go with the trader system and just implement an auction house system where you buy directly from the auction UI. Charge a small fee for listing and purchasing but get rid of this clunky mess that is the trader system. If you want to limit the number of items players can place in the auction house then tie to the bag system you currently use or something similar, but yes the bazaar is insanely bad compared to an auction house system.
You probably won't notice any difference at the client level. Hopefully it will help somewhere at the server level but I bet it just makes it easier for them to add more servers to the same cluster than before due to memory amount increases.
Everything looks great! Classic achievements and UI changes are fantastic ideas. Thanks a lot for sharing the roadmap with us
most pc's run 64bit windows 10 already, if your pc has more than 4GB ram it pretty much have 64bit to use that.
it will do so you can actually play the game at all since windows is planned to drop 32bit compatability "soon"TM
As far as I have seen they are only planning to drop 32 bit for the OS itself but allow for 32 bit apps to run. There are a massive amount of apps that are still being developed that are only 32 bit and forcing 64 bit could cause a lot of chaos.
absolutely, would be SAD to see quests removed from EverQUEST.... keep the quests please... make it a full set of merc armor then instead 1 piece each for each type of merc (aka 4 pieces per quest) so do J2 quests and get earring, do J3 and get necklace yada yada
They didn't say they are removing the quests. They said they are removing the requirement to do the quests. The old quests are part of Seeds of Destruction progression. They wouldn't get removed.
same thing when they dropped 16bit, no big deal, it will let them remove all the 32bit junk and run clean 64bit instead. win win for all and coding for 32bit now is foolish they should code for 64bit and should have for quite a few years already, limiting their own apps to only 4gb ram is silly and I bet the more ram can help the EQ servers... surprised they don't run the old 64bit... we have had that since WinXp-64bit and another thing is... STEAM has to convert to 64bit... and yes that is in the works. else they would have a few issues ;-)
Just came here to say thank you for the roadmap. I really appreciate being able to see what is being worked on or what's planned, or even just what you're thinking of working on.
We are 52+ posts in. Lets talk about the Anti cheating measures. Are we referring to the AFK bot teams and warp cheaters? Or are we talking about people who box in general and use assistance? Are we seeing a roadmap for all this new* and improved* structure that wont matter much in the long run? The servers are already quieting down. We didnt make it 2 months in to the expansion and even box crews are vanishing. Next on the road map... Are you planning on releasing a real expansion of real content that is not ripped off from an earlier expansion? Are you going to release the full expansion at release or will we need to wait for basic items that should come with expansion release? Will that Beta be well thought out and actually beta test and resolve things before release? Pitstop on the roadmap mk.2..... The 64 bit client and new engine. What is it that you see in EverQuests future that would justify this big of a change? A new engine opens a heap of things for us. A Client designed for a newer age does as well. Is Everquest planning on trying to make a comeback in to the new age of MMOs? Are we going to see advertising to bring in new players, or a streamline in gameplay that makes us more competitive as a fast-paced MMO, and not the slug-kill-speed that we are? I want to have excitement, but man, that gnome on my back keeps whispering things like "hemorrhage money and kill the beast!"
Not really as there is no plans for them to drop support for running 32 bit apps just making it so that they no longer have a 32 bit os. If they had actual plans to drop all 32 bit support it would be major news.
we are not removing the quests. We will need to consider the rewards. Early, so not everything nailed down.
First, thank you for everything. Second: regarding May and new servers, PLEASE make a progression locked server, like Agnarr but it stops at Omens of War. Or anything similar to that!
Thank you so much for the transparency! Wish list for 2023: Some sort of instanced guide for characters that use Heroic Character boost. Something that will slowly (over the course of the instance - lets call it something akin to Glooming) grant access to spells, armor, and AAs that amounts to what a Heroic Character normally gets. Creating a logical progression that will help newly minted level 85 (or 100) characters understand the basics of their class, the basics of their gear The various AAs they get and when /how to use it. To explain Purity and Powersources (still don't get it or what to do when my power source runs out).
Also - I want to vote Xcelon Silverblade onto the Board of EQ. This just makes too much sense. Any chance we can sneak this into 2022? <3<3
