DESCEND INTO THE DARK MULTIVERSE IN METAL PART I AND PART II Just announced at Comic Con, DC Universe Online's next content releases pit the Multiverse we know against the Dark Multiverse Batman has just uncovered. New episodes METAL PART I and METAL PART II will launch this September and December. DC Comics' Dark Nights 2019 NEW EPISODE: METAL PART I In METAL PART I, Batman has breached the barrier between our world and the Dark Multiverse, and then disappeared. In through the breach storm the Dark Knights, twisted versions of Batman hell-bent on revenge. What is this Dark Multiverse? Who are these Batmen? How can they be stopped? The answers lie in the exceptionally rare forms of Metal that the Dark Knights seek, Metal which must be found and returned before our world melts into the Darkness. SJ'S TAKE: "Metal reveals the Dark Multiverse - terrifying alternative universes where Batman has fallen to evil. If you thought Owl Man of the Crime Syndicate was scary, you better prepare yourself for the Batman Who Laughs. The Metal comics are such a trip. We’ve had a lot of fun bringing this crazy, dark, complex story arc to life in DCUO." - SJ Mueller, DC Universe Online Creative Director THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT METAL PART I: Metal Part I will be a large-scale episode, with level-agnostic event versions of content available to all players for a limited time. The episode will feature new and returning heroes and villains, including The Red Death, The Merciless, and The Batman Who Laughs. The storyline will include singleplayer and multiplayer adventures set in iconic but twisted locales as our universe descends. The episode will launch new player rewards, including new gear, styles, artifact ranks, base items, and feats. EPISODE 35: METAL PART I will launch this September on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. DC Comics' Dark Nights Metal Vol. 1 #5, 2018 NEW EPISODE: METAL PART II In METAL PART II, the saga of the Dark Knights, the Dark Multiverse, and Metal will come to an explosive conclusion. The Bat-God Barbatos has waited since the dawn of the universe for this moment, and it seems nothing can stand in his way. LEAH'S TAKE: "When we were just starting on the idea to bring Metal to the game, we knew the size and complexity of the cast and story would be challenging. We started testing the waters with looks from the comics - The Red Death and The Drowned - releasing those styles. The reaction was so overwhelming we knew we had to figure out how to bring the story into an episode. The way we figured it out? Not one Episode, but two! Doing the story right meant taking the time, and the team really stepped up and made it their own. We knew we were onto something good!" - Leah Bowers, DC Universe Online Executive Producer THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT METAL PART II: Metal Part II will be a large-scale episode, with level-agnostic event versions of content available to all players for a limited time. cool. I've was kinda sorta expecting Metal, anyway, so not a huge surprise, but, yeah, sounds fun. cheers. looking forward to it.
More Batman content ---- ok? More content period --- SUPER GREAT!!! Seems like this year is the year of the 'creepy' DLCs. JLD with tentacle monsters, undead megalomaniacs and demons, now the Metal duo with Creepy Batmans and evil parallel worlds. God help me, I might be looking forward to a simple Superman Vs Lex themed DLC in 2020. It will be interesting to see you guys get part II in under the 2019 wire though.... Dec 29th release anyone? Reinheld
Should have broken it up. Now if you don’t like Metal, you’re just s.o.l. for at least 7 months (because you know the following new ep won’t be out until the end of March at best). I guess Legion next year.
I'm guessing the Red Death for the event content, the Merciless for the at level version, & the Batman Who Laughs for the capsule.
Great artwork in that arc. I can't wait to see it translated into DCUO. My question whenever Batman is involved: Will Kevin Conroy & Mark Hamill be in this?
Yeah. This year has been all dark, all the time. Great if you like that sort of thing, but not everybody does.
While Batman was certainly the headliner for Metal, it was actually a DC Universe, Crisis-level event with everybody on deck (kind of like Blackest Night was a full-DCU story headlined by Green Lantern). So these episodes will probably be Bat-leaning, but hopefully we'll have a wider selection of heroes and villains in the mix - Plastic Man was a large part of the story, for instance, as was the Kendra Saunders version of Hawkgirl. Heck, Metal re-introduced Sandman into the DC Universe proper. Can you imagine him in DCUO, even as a cameo?
